About this property
Historic Gem*1 Block 2 Main*PetsOK*Fire Pit
Pioneer Cabin is a historic gem, built in 1865, and was relocated from the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church property in 2018. The cozy cabin accommodates 2 people comfortably with a queen size bed, a large bathroom and a nicely stocked kitchenette with microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator and toaster oven. The cabin is decorated with period antiques while providing all the modern comforts. Wi-fi and a streaming TV for staying connected inside and the outdoor firepit, patio seating and grill allow for enjoying the private yard space. Please note that the driveway is shared access between Pioneer Haus at the front of the property and Pioneer Cabin at the back of the driveway. There is a fence with a gate to provide privacy between the two homes.
The property is directly across the street from the Pioneer Museum and also across the street from St. Mary's Catholic Church, making it very convenient for anyone attending events at either of these popular destinations. Pioneer Cabin is very walkable to all of Main Street with a myriad of restaurants, shops and event venues. One block to Main Street means you can park your car on-property and never have to look for a parking space in town! Have dinner at one of the many restaurants and enjoy an easy stroll home. Back at the cabin, luxuriate in the top tier linens on the comfortable bed. We welcome your pets with food dishes, a bed and a yard to stretch their legs. We do not have a weight limit as the owners are Great Dane parents and know well behaved furry friends come in all sizes! We do an extra detailed clean after every pet stay to ensure no hair or odors are left behind.

This home is in an unbeatable location—only a block from Main Street and steps from great restaurants and shopping. We hardly needed the car. Inside, everything was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our visit, and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. The backyard provided both privacy and easy parking, with plenty of space in front as well. Cindy was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout our stay. We’d definitely come back and happily recommend it. Reserve; you will not be disappointed.

Thank you so much for such nice comments about Pioneer Cabin! We loved having you stay and hope to see you again soon.
We spent a few days in this adorable country cabin for 2. It was perfect! Within walking distance of mainstreet. Loved hearing the church bells. It was secluded even though it was right on main. The decor and the history of the cabin was delightful.

About the host
Hosted by Cindy Nelson
With long ties to Fredericksburg, Texas, the owner of this property is the Great-great grandchild of one of the early settlers of this historic town. Having sailed on the "Element" from Germany, he became one of the first school teachers while also making a living as a wine maker, inventor, furniture maker, composer and music teacher. Jacob Brodbeck was a true pioneer in many aspects. His wife, Christine was born in Germany and also immigrated to Texas with her family as a young girl.
Why they chose this property
We wanted to be closer to our roots in this historic town. We love the friendly atmosphere with so many fun events and activities to choose from. Everything is walkable from our location and we feel connected to the heart of the community here.
What makes this property unique
This cabin is unique in that you feel like you have stepped back in time and will truly immerse yourself in the pioneer spirit of early Texas and authentic Fredericksburg. Staying at Pioneer Cabin is diving into the culture and leaving with a greater understanding of the town and its early inhabitants and how they lived. Outside the cabin is the original windmill that pumped water for the family and also the water tower that held their precious water used for all daily tasks.
