About the host
Hosted by Sally Ooms
After a career as a print journalist, I wrote a non-fiction book at the casita on the property I now call home. The book is called Finding Home: How Americans Prevail. A native of Kansas City, I have lived in New Mexico for almost 25 years. I moved briefly to San Francisco in 2011, and then to the California Delta 2013, after an extensive book tour. I owned and ran an art gallery and store in Isleton, CA, for four years. Now, when my husband, dog and I are not at 30A Valerio Rd. North in Taos, we are traveling the country in our retro Winnebago Brave. At home and during travels, I am working on a novel, and sketching and painting the countryside we pass through.
Why they chose this property
The mountains and quality of light found in and around Taos have become part of my soul. I love the organic feel of an adobe house. Plus I am a sucker for a view. That's why I chose my particular viewing spot. The sunrises and sunsets always delight. Watching the moon rise from the portal is magic.
