About this property

Stella Luna in Arroyo Seco - Hot Tub - Longterm

Off the Rim Road in Arroyo Seco - down a quiet country lane is Stella Luna. With dramatic views of Lobo Peak & Taos Mountain off the back deck and El Pedernal off the front -a secluded outdoor hot tub, a kiva fireplace & an out door grill - this is the ideal place to unwind. 15 min to TSV & 15 min to the Plaza. We will entertain long term visitors during the pandemic - please ask.

Nestled at the foot of Taos Mountain off the Valdez Rim Road, Stella Luna, our 1500 square foot, two bedroom, two bath home sits on a quiet lane. It`s just 15 mins from the slopes of Taos Ski Valley, 15 mins from the Town of Taos & Taos Plaza, and 5 mins from the charming village of Arroyo Seco. Extraordinary views in all directions, high ceilings throughout, large windows, and a floor plan that offers both open space and privacy come together to create a home that graciously welcomes you back after a day of skiing, sightseeing, or shopping. In fact, if you`re like us, you might never want to leave Stella Luna at all!

Our lovely home offers a spacious, master suite with a King bed, attached office/nursery, TV/DVD, a Jacuzzi bath, and walk-in closet & dressing area. The second bedroom, conveniently separated from the master by the common living space, comes with a queen bed & double futon, TV/DVD, and an amazing view of Taos Mtn. While the house can comfortably sleep four adults, it can easily accommodate two more on the sleeper sofa in the living room.

A cozy fire in the kiva fireplace will warm your bones while you dine or relax in the comfortable living area. Being travelers, cooks, and foodies ourselves, Stella Luna provides you with a well-equipped kitchen and a home tastefully decorated with furnishings, art and objects from near and far. A selection of movies, books, and games will help you unwind from your life in the real world. To soothe those aching limbs and enjoy our spectacular New Mexico skies, there`s a hot tub on the back deck; from the SW facing portal you get views of the Truchas, El Pedernal (a leitmotif of Georgia O`Keeffe), sunsets, and the neighbor’s grazing cows.

We love children and they`re welcome at Stella Luna. We`ll work with you to provide you the amenities you need.

Private outdoor hot tub; gas grill. Crib and high chair for the tykes. Free Dish network for TV; DVR; BluRay multi screens - fast internet (30mb/sec) for streaming on your own accounts. Lots of parking; hiking and mountain biking trails are just 10 min drive away.

Delighted to be your guide to all that makes Taos so special--the sights, the food, the events, the history and the culture. Lots of guide books, trail maps, stories and more. Always available via mobile or text - unless I am skiing.

Quiet country lanes with dramatic views. Watch the changing clouds and brilliant sunsets. Watch the hummers battle each other for food. Patio out back is secluded. The small lane is perfect for a stroll to catch the sunrise or sunset. To the west are open fields where you might see a few horses grazing in the summer.

You need a car. But bikes are fun to the village of Arroyo Seco. You can catch the shuttle to the ski valley but you will have to drive a mile to the stop.

Its a quiet neighbourhood and a dead-end lane - so a stroll to take in the stars is a wonderful treat.

About the host

In 1979 as a new immigrant to the US , I came out to NM to attend St. John’s College in Santa Fe. Plato and Aristotle, Aeschylus and Shakespeare, Kant, Baudelaire, Einstein, and Dante brought me to NM. But it was this land itself, with its stark, bright light, dramatic landscape, rich culture and the many friendships I made here that kept me coming back.

After a 13-year career working for a number of SF Bay Area retail companies (The Nature Company/Discovery Channel Stores, The North Face, Illuminations, Restoration Hardware, etc.), in operations, human resources and real estate/construction, including managing several multi-store roll outs, I followed the woman I love to northern NM in 2002, to set down roots, invest in real estate and to make Taos home.

Here in Taos I have enjoyed becoming a part of a community that is diverse, creative and serious. There is nothing like involvement in the life and institutions of a community to build relationships and to make sense of how it all works. My own interests and those of my step children have been my guide: I became a part of the Taos Soccer Coalition, a couple of Acequias in the Taos Valley, the Friends of Anansi Charter School, the Board of the Taos Ski Team and Intermezzo of the Santa Fe Opera. In addition I served for six years on the Board of Visitors and Governors of St. John’s College which has campuses in both Santa Fe, NM and Annapolis, MD. Today I serve on the boards of the Taos Land Trust and of the Quail Roost Foundation. I believe in the long term value of real estate in northern NM.

Why they chose this property

This is a home in the country, with breathtaking views, quiet, proximity to Arroyo Seco Village and Taos Ski Valley

What makes this property unique

Magnificent views--the bright and piercing morning light off the back of Taos Mountain greet each day; the last rays of sun set over the Rio Grande with El Pedernal as a back drop. All this is on a quiet dead-end lane in Arroyo Seco.
