Casselman Cabin Retreat

Casselman Cabin Retreat is a completely remolded cabin overlooking the Casselman River. Our riverfront property with upper and lower wrap around decks offer beautiful views, serenity, and relaxation. Our clean, well-equipped home is situated in the Laurel Highlands Mountains and is minutes away from the quaint little town of Confluence. Enjoy being steps away from the Casselman River, which is known for great Bass fishing. You can also grab an inner tube and take a relaxing float to Confluence. Casselman Cabin Retreat is also only one mile to the Great Allegheny Passageway Bike Trail.

Casselman Cabin Retreat is cozy enough for a romantic getaway but also offers a spacious, open floorplan which allows larger families, multiple families, and groups of friends to gather and socialize. The cabin will accommodate 15 people comfortably with 5 bedrooms, futon and 2 full bathrooms. Our kitchen is a delight to cook in and you can do so while spending time with loved ones sitting at the island or nearby dining room table. The home also includes a propane fireplace and an electric fireplace to snuggle up to.

The best place for a little R & R is in our well shaded back yard that has an open view to the Casselman River. Our propane gas grill is perfect for an outdoor dinner with a relaxing glass of wine or cup of coffee afterwards. Also enjoy making mountain pies and roasting marshmallows at the campfire with comfortable seating. Cornhole games, tossing a football or shooting some hoops on our small concrete court is always a great time. Casselman Cabin Retreat is also pet friendly (fees will apply) therefore, our completely fenced in back yard creates a spacious, safe area for your fur baby.

Featured amenities include but are not limited to; Dish and Smart TV in every bedroom and the living room, highspeed wireless internet, free local calls, washer/dryer, hair dryers, towels and bed linens, Keurig and regular coffee pot along with other small appliances. AT&T and Verizon both have a cell tower in Confluence and both work very well.

Welcome to the Casselman Cabin Retreat. We are the “Smith’s”, better known as TJ & Deneane. I am a Personal Care Home Administrator, and my husband, TJ, is a Highway Construction Consultant. Both of us were raised in Confluence and attended Turkeyfoot Valley School. We’ve remained locals and live 5 minutes from the cabin. We are a blended family and blessed with a son and 3 daughters. Growing up we spent a lot of time swimming, fishing, rafting and kayaking in the local rivers and as we get a little older we are enjoying kayaking, paddle boarding & boating on the lake! We feel that we are very fortunate to live in an area with so much natural beauty all around us.

Why they chose this property

My father, Mick Miller, originally built this home in 1993. Although it has had an addition added on and several renovations through the years, his vision of the log siding and wrap around double decks remain and continue to charm all who enter. From the very start of him building this home our family called it “the cabin”.

Not only was it built by my father, I also moved into the home as a single mother in 2001 and this is where I raised my daughters until 2017. With the large open living room and dining/kitchen area this home has hosted many family and holiday dinners and celebrations. The cabin will always have a piece of my heart for those reasons.

As my daughters grew older “the cabin” was the meeting place for all of their friends. Every weekend it was filled with kids laughing and having fun. Creating a vacation rental where friends and families could continue to make fond memories, relax and enjoy life seemed like the perfect purpose for our home.

What makes this property unique

While the upper and lower decks along the side of the house and the back yard area provide a private area with a river view, my favorite spot was always on the front porch swing. It wasn’t as private, as you could see the neighbors home and farm, however, I always enjoyed looking at the cows graze and especially liked seeing the baby goats, piglets and calves.
