Amazing stay! Came during a snow storm and the host and the property manager were great to make sure we were ok and resolved a small issue super fast!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m so glad we could help you navigate that snowstorm comfortably. As the owner of Yough Vacation Rentals, I make it a priority to stay personally involved in every booking to ensure my guests have a seamless experience.
While I handle the details from my end, I’m lucky to have a dedicated local property manager who can jump in immediately when needed.
We’d love to host you again (hopefully with a bit less snow next time)!

Very Nice
The Casselman River Loft was very well decorated, had a great view of the river and was centrally located to the town. The layout of the loft was very well suited for two couples or a family with children. The beds and sofas were extremely comfortable.
We were visiting for a wedding and saw some of the other accommodations and ours was far superior. If visiting Confluence, I would highly recommend the Casselman River Loft.
We stopped off at Casselman River Loft on our drive to Kentucky for Thanksgiving. We felt right at home when we arrived. The loft is very nicely appointed and equipped with all the essentials. We hope to return!
The property was very nicely equipped for all of our needs. It was clean and comfortable. I have to say their mattresses are the best I’ve come across when traveling. Kara is great to work with and very prompt when responding to questions. We love the fact that they accommodate pets at their properties. This was not our first stay at the Casselman Loft and we look forward to trying out more of the Yough properties in the future.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for being a returning guest at the Casselman Loft! We’re especially glad you enjoyed the mattresses and found everything clean and comfortable—that means a lot to us. It’s always a pleasure hosting you, and we love being able to welcome pets along too. We’re excited for you to try out some of our other Yough Vacation Rentals in the future!
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful, well-appointed loft! It was the perfect getaway to celebrate Thanksgiving, play board games, and finish a jigsaw puzzle while eating leftovers and drinking hot cocoa. We really enjoyed the king size bed and comfy mattress as well. Overall a 10/10 stay!

Great weekend away
What a great weekend away. We had wonderful weather, but enjoyed our time inside as much as we did out - as the space was incredibly comfortable. Also, the loft is equipped with all of the essentials.
A lovely weekend getaway! Confluence is such a charming little town and close to many outdoor recreational areas. The space is huge, very clean, well appointed and just a neat place to stay! Highly recommend!

Pleasant stay
We found the Loft to be much nicer than expected. It's extremely clean, well maintained and has everything that could have been needed. The coffee was a bonus. We hope to be able to stay there again when we return to the Confluence area.
This property is amazing! The best VRBO I have stayed at. The loft is spacious, very clean, and the location and view of the river makes it the perfect place. It is furnished head to toe with everything you could need while traveling. The modern decor and coziness of the place tops it off to make for a wonderful stay.

Thank you for the lovely review. We love the location with easy access to the GAP trail in either direction, riverside, and ease of walking into both sides of town (the "downtown" area, and the west side area to spots like Lucky Dog Cafe and Rivers Edge.
The Loft was beautiful, comfortable, and exactly what we needed! It was super close to the GAP, and the perfect place to take a 2 day break from biking. Thank you to Kara and her team for everything!
The location worked out perfectly for us because we didn’t want to be in the middle of everything at Ohio Pyle. The nearby restaurants were great. The space was clean and had everything we needed.

Thank you for the review! I agree that Confluence is a better location for lodging and makes for an easy trip by car, bike or float to Ohiopyle.
Lovely, tastefully decorated home with an amazing river view and a fully equipped kitchen where we made several meals. Direct access to GAP trail, for biking to Ohiopyle and Pinkerton bridges. Beautiful hikes nearby with waterfall Bald Eagle sighting and spring wild flowers. People with mobility problems may struggle with stairs.

We’re so happy you enjoyed the view and the kitchen.
Sounds like you took advantage to the easy GAP access and made it Pinkerton Bridge, and Ohiopyle in the other direction.
The bald eagles are such a treat and never get old. Spring wildflowers too--particularly the trilliums!
And thanks for the note about the stairs—that’s helpful for future guests to know.
Hope to see you again soon!

Amazing stay at the Casselman River Loft
Kids described loft as very luxurious. Great river view and lots of space. Great lighting and air conditioning, crazy to think that it used to be an old chool house. Very convenient location for a variety of outdoor adventures. Highly recommend a stay here.
Wonderful new space, beautiful kitchen, bathrooms and living room furniture. Nice and bright with large windows! Close to the bike trail! Convenient to Ohiopyle and many hikes!

Fall 2024 Confluence
This is our third stay at the loft and we can’t say enough good things about the place and Kara from the Yough Treehouse. The location is perfect for everything. As far as the loft, it’s the perfect place for us. It’s clean, spacious, and has everything you need to make for a great weekend. We would definitely recommend it and can’t wait to stay again.
This loft was spacious, beautiful, and clean! The kitchen was big and we enjoyed cooking family meals. My husband and I stayed here with our two kids and his brother/girlfriend. Hosts were very communicative and kind. Would definitely stay again!
Wow! The loft is amazing. It is meticulously clean, comfortable and spacious. Kara was extremely responsive when I had questions. This was hands down our favorite stop along the GAP trail.

Hidden gem
Great place to stay . Three of us stayed on a GAP bike ride. Close to trail and excellent loft. You don’t expect it from the out side. It is part of an old High School. Great views of the river.
What a great find! Absolutely loved the place! The space and decor was beautiful. The bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect and the kitchen was amazing. Plenty of space for the four of us to cook and hang out. We would definitely come back and recommend this rental to friends and family!
Thank you!

About the host
Hosted by Kara (Treehouse)
I grew up in Confluence and graduated from Turkeyfoot High School. At about 10 years old I learned to kayak with my dad. Kayaking quickly became my passion, and I raced slalom on the US Team for 13 years. I met my husband, John, through kayaking. In 1997 we started a business making kayaking gear called Immersion Research (IR) in our basement. Eventually we moved IR into the former Confluence high school. In 2013 later purchased it. It's been a dream of ours to build a loft apartment in the building since the day we moved in. That dream finally became a reality and we are excited to share it.
Why they chose this property
The Confluence High School was built in the 1930's and reminded a school until 1955. Soon after it was repurposed into a sewing factory (called Faymore). Faymore employed almost 200 workers until it shut down around 1994. A few years later, we started our own business, called Immersion Research, making kayaking gear and apparel in our basement. Quickly we outgrew our basement, then an old car garage across town. Eventually we talked the owner of the (now empty) Faymore/old high school into letting us lease the building. Finally we were able to purchase the building in 2013. As our kayaking gear business grew we dreamed of building a better space for shipping/receiving and converting the top floor into a loft apartment. Finally in 2022, that dream became a reality.
What makes this property unique
The unique benefits of the Loft include an enormous deck and huge windows with a view of the Casselman River as it meanders towards its confluence with the Youghiogheny River and Laurel Hill Creek just downstream. The Loft is centrally located to town and allows for easy access to the bike trail. The spacious and modern interior gives it a feeling of an industrial city loft apartment. The building is powered by solar panels on the roof. The kitchen is full stocked and fantastic for cooking group meals. Watching birds and eagles soar up and down the Casselman while drinking coffee in the morning is a highlight.
