the house was very nice. The kitchen had everything, except the coffee maker was only 4 cups.
It sits high on a hill over looking the bay. There is no beach, it's all rock and not easily accessible. You had to be very careful walking down the hill to the lake due to loose rocks.
My husband and I stayed for a week at this beautiful home. This is by far the CLEANEST vacation rental we have EVER stayed in!
Was not sure initially if we were going to the correct location, as we had no contact with the owners/manager. It looked like the photos in the listing, and the door was unlocked upon arrival, so we went in and stayed. Guess it was the right place, as no one said anything.
That said, the beds were super comfy and the view was beautiful. Wonderful listening to the waves to fall asleep. Super lovely waking up to the birds chirping and watching the eagles soar overhead every day.
It is quite a bit of a trek down to the lake (3-5 minute walk), and the ground is uneven/rocky, so not very convenient for those with balance issues, or for launching canoes/kayaks. I think there was supposed to be a dock, because there was pieces/parts on shore that hadn’t been set up. No real beach; mostly hand size hunks of limestone. Make sure to were Chico’s/Teva’s/Keens, as it’ll hurt your feet without. While there’s lots of trees on the lot, no great place to hang a hammock.
Great kitchen, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fans appreciated. So thankful they allowed us to bring our dogs. Huge yard.
We didn’t leave, as we brought everything we needed for the week, so we didn’t explore the area. Again, very beautiful and super clean place.
The house was spacious, very clean and the beds were super comfy! Our host was also very responsive to messages. To get to the water was a bit of a downhill (and then uphill) trek, but for us and the dogs it was pretty easy. The beach is very rocky. Again, not a problem for us, but if you are looking for long walks on the beach you are going to be challenged here! Just something to keep in mind if you have older people staying with you. The yard was HUGE! A great place for kids and dogs to run and play. Found two nice restaurants nearby as well as a couple of great breakfast places in Manistique. Never saw or heard the neighbors on either side of us and feel asleep to the sound of the lake each night. It was a wonderful stay, I will be back for sure.
We loved our stay here. The setting was beautiful over looking the lake. We saw numerous bald eagles and deer. The house layout worked out great for our family. The best surprise was the cute little toddler bed in the master bedroom closet. Our almost 3 year old absolutely loved it. He is autistic and i think this secluded area all for him was very special. Beware of the numerous bees on the walk out to the dock though; we saw many nests and they made us worry for our dog and ourselves. The location was kinda far from some things we wanted to do but Manistique and Fayette were pretty close with nice beaches and places to eat.
The rental property was exactly as described in the description. We throughly enjoyed our stay. Our 2 dogs enjoyed the large yard & the waterfront. We will definitely consider returning next year!
We really enjoyed our stay, spent a lot of time on the deck in the back enjoying the lake view. The cottage itself is clean, modern, and very comfortable. We had a wonderful time and have no complaints!
I will second another reviewer in saying that google does not have the map right for this area and shows the road the cottage is on as "mm.5" when it is actually "18.5". Just look for the blue "Lake House" signs and you will find it!
We had a very pleasant stay. Our nephew and his daughter came over for dinner one night and we all enjoyed the place. Fayette was very interesting-- a gem of a state park and the Garden mini-mart carried everything we needed for a family dinner and our extended stay.
Two suggestions. Tableware--need more spoons, we kept running out. Also, for directions be aware that Google mislabels the road names. The real 18.5 is labeled mm.5 and 18.75 is labeled 18.5.
All in all; a great weekend.
My husband and I enjoyed a great stay at the Lake House. The view of the water is spectacular. The kitchen is well stocked, the only thing I would add is a full size coffee maker. The backyard was great for our pup and we were able to enjoy the fire pit. The king size bed was very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!!
This is the most peaceful and serene setting. The house is nestled in the woods on the bay, has easy lake access for kayaking or floating, and nature abounds. One can watch bald eagles fly over, perch in the trees and dive for fish from the back deck, and cap the night off under the stars by the fire pit listening to owls. The house has all the amenities and Hope and Ben are responsive hosts. Definitely recommend this place, it is worth the drive if you live under the bridge.
This property was vary secluded yet vary modern in amenities. The wildlife and views where something to behold. The bald eagle population in the area is thriving and witnessed often. I would recommend a stay for a nature lover or just a quiet get away.
