Treat yourself to a stay in this charming cottage in the heart of the Alpes Mancelles, a truly unspoiled haven ideal for recharging your batteries as a couple, with friends, or as a family. Here, the absence of Wi-Fi and television allows for a complete digital detox experience. Slow down and savour the surrounding nature, whether during a nap in a hammock or while exploring the local sporting and cultural attractions. Inside, the space invites sharing: cook delicious meals, immerse yourself in a good book, or enjoy the small games library available for special moments together. This carefully renovated house showcases healthy, bio-sourced materials, combining respect for the environment with modern, disconnected comfort. The accommodation offers large spaces, including two spacious bedrooms spread over two levels, one above the other, connected by an open staircase. This layout creates a convivial atmosphere and is particularly well-suited to family stays, while also allowing for a bit more shared privacy for a stay between adults. The house also has a large dining room for gathering around a good meal or board games, as well as a small lounge area. A life-sized playground for sports and outdoor enthusiasts: From the gîte, explore numerous hiking trails, including routes such as the GR36, several local trails (PR), the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago), and the GR de Pays des Alpes Mancelles, offering a variety of routes, both loop and point-to-point. Just a few minutes away, Saint-Léonard-des-Bois offers kayak rentals for paddling down the Sarthe River, natural climbing spots, and trail running centers for trail running enthusiasts. Cyclists will also be well catered for: direct access from the gîte to five marked mountain bike trails as well as the "Vélobuissonnière," a 250 km cycle route linking Alençon to Saumur. And for anglers, privileged access to the Toyères fly fishing area awaits: a first-category river, fly fishing in "catch and release" mode. A region rich in discoveries, nature, and heritage: 3 km away (or a 40-minute walk via the GR hiking trail), discover the village of Saint-Léonard-des-Bois, designated a "Petite Cité de Caractère" (Small Town of Character) and a "Station Verte" (Green Resort). Here you will find the Domaine du Gasseau, a lively nature area with treetop adventure courses (6 routes), a permaculture vegetable garden, a café-shop selling local products, exhibitions, concerts, climbing, horseback riding, disc golf, and interpretive trails. The gîte is also just 3 km from Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, famous for its bucolic charm, art galleries, and inspiring landscapes. Also nearby: • Fresnay-sur-Sarthe (15 km), a medieval town voted the 2nd Favourite Village of the French in 2021, with its artisans and cultural offerings. • Alençon (17 km), a city of art and history, renowned for its lace, which is listed as part of the intangible cultural heritage of France. UNESCO. • Numerous flea markets throughout the summer in the surrounding villages for lovers of antiques and authentic finds. We enjoy the company of animals, but unfortunately cannot accommodate them in the gîte, with the exception of assistance animals.
