Winter weekend with friends and family

We had a wonderful weekend at Elk Meadows. Plenty of space for our group and a stocked kitchen that allowed us to prepare all meals at the house. The only drawback of the weekend was that it was too short, definitely going for a couple more days next time!

Beautiful setting and lovely home!

We had a lovely girls staycation at this property. Lots of space for gathering and perfect layout for privacy as well. Perfect entertaining and gathering home in a beautiful setting.

Spring Break Stay - House and Barn

Fantastic property overall—great location, spacious layout, and incredible views (some of the best we've experienced in Colorado). We had 15 family members, including two sets of grandparents, and the home accommodated everyone very comfortably. The multiple floors helped keep things quiet, even with different schedules. It worked great for our ski trip—about a 30+ minute drive to Purgatory, but a beautiful and easy drive. A few areas of the home could use some updating, but nothing that impacted our stay. One note: if you're planning to use all listed rooms, be aware the barn is a separate booking from the main house—but it's a great additional space with a very nice master setup. There are some stairs, so just something to keep in mind for older guests, but overall this place worked well for all ages. Our family loved it and would absolutely stay again.

Outstanding!

Despite this crew struggling to figure out how to work the air conditioning and the showers (they were kind to walk us through it!) we finally figured out and by day 2 we had a cool house and could work everything! The house was just outstanding and we loved the location! A quick trip to town if needed and a beautiful view!

Remote location with amazing views and only minutes from town

House is located on a large private property that proves privacy yet is located not too far from town. The accommodations are very nice and the views are absolutely amazing. Someone previously commented on not being able to operate HVAC but there is a house guide book that I clearly illustrates how to operate. In visited in early October just in time to see a large flock of wild turkeys each morning. Look forward to next trip.

Overall, this house was great! The location was fantastic and if we had been there in winter, it would have been perfect. However, the listing specifically listed A/C as an amenity, which was very deceptive. The main house has the original building plus some add-ons. The kitchen and original bedrooms have no vents connected to the central air conditioning unit, which is small and undersized. A mini-split is in the hallway that blows toward the kitchen, but this does very little for the kitchen and nothing for the original bedrooms. The bedroom on the third level was basically uninhabitable as it was significantly hotter than the rest of the house. When we arrived, the breaker to the air conditioner which is located outside right next to the unit was turned completely off and the temperature of the living room was 88 degrees. It didn't cool down until the middle of the night, even with all the windows closed and both units turned on. The following days were only slightly better with the house at 80 degrees every afternoon, even after following the instructions of opening windows at night and closing them with A/C on when it started to warm up. We had two engineers/home builders in the house, so it was not operator error. We rented the Barn House also, and it was great. If you plan to stay in the main house, don't pick a warm week. You'll be extremely uncomfortable for at least half of the day.

We're sorry to hear that you felt the A/C did not work up to your standards during your stay, however, we have never received feedback from previous guests indicating that the home's air conditioning was inadequate or that they experienced the issues you described. Additionally, we do wish you had contacted us while you were here. Had we known there was a concern, we would have been happy to troubleshoot the system with you or even bring over an additional window A/C unit to help cool the upstairs. It's very difficult for us to make things right when we aren't made aware of an issue until after checkout. Regarding the breaker, we're sorry it was turned off prior to your arrival, but we're glad you were able to restore power to the unit and get the A/C running. While some homes can have temperature differences between levels, particularly during warmer weather, the property does have functioning air conditioning, and we have not previously experienced reports of the conditions you described. We appreciate your feedback and will continue monitoring the home's cooling performance, but we also encourage future guests to reach out during their stay if anything isn't meeting expectations so we have the opportunity to help.
