The Harrison House was a great and comfortable home to visit with our kids at college. We would absolutely rent there again and will recommend the place to others. Thank you for letting us use the property.
We had a great stay easy access to downtown and great house. Had everything we needed and a great space. Communication wit the host was excellent. Highly recommend.
It was a wonderful experience and the host was beyond accommodating. We had a last minute situation, and she made it possible for us to still have our group together.
Our extended family greatly enjoyed our stay at the Harrison House. The house was well-stocked, especially with kitchen implements, making cooking easy. I especially appreciated the gate at the top of the stairs, which was great for traveling with toddlers. Based on other reviews, we packed a couple extra towels and washcloths, which was helpful. Check-in and check-out were smooth, easy, and straightforward. Kate shared her phone number for anything we might need and was extremely responsive and helpful. My husband and I stayed in the queen bed in the bunk room, and we found it uncomfortable for the first couple nights. Then we asked Kate if there was a mattress pad, and she bought one and dropped it off for us that very evening. We had no complaints after that. The only other things we noticed that guests might want to provide themselves is Kleenex and plastic wrap, aluminum foil, and ziplock food storage bags.
Kate and her husband were a pleasure to work with. We had a last minute request for an early checkin and they made it happen for us! The house was clean and well appointed with amenities. Will definitely stay here again!
House was perfect for my family to stay at while visiting. It was very clean and nice. Kate was easy to contact and very nice. I would definitely recommend the property.
Our family of 6 came into town for a wedding in Lynchburg and this historic beauty slept all of us comfortably and had everything we needed to feel at home.
Very nice; plenty of space; nicely restored; well decorated. Love the cast iron tubs and the peonie paintings. Checkin was smooth but a little trouble getting into the digital front door lock. Thank you for a very hospitable Bob.
We rented this home for a couple of weeks and it was perfect for our needs. Home was clean when we arrived. Bedrooms were large and comfortable. Lots of time went into updating it while keeping the feel of an early 1900’s home. Host were great to communicate with and made sure we had everything we needed. We could not have been happier.
Quick family get away before the Spring semester at LU
We loved our stay at your home. We love history and to be in the midst of the homes of Federal Hill was an unexpected pleasure! We loved walking our dog through the streets, admiring the homes, imagining what they were like in their heyday, and letting our imagination run wild on what it would be like to buy up all the neglected homes and restore them to their full glory. While out walking, a gentleman was gracious enough to stop and chat with us and share so much history that it enhanced our walks.
The home was cozy and well-appointed. We loved that the tree was still up and we were able to enjoy the ambience of it.
Thank you for a lovely get-away,
The Fillman family
My youngest son got married near Lynchburg, so I needed a place for 9 people--my other 4 sons and their families/girlfriend, my husband and myself. The photos of the Harrison House displayed a spacious old house that had been renovated and decorated beautifully. It had the charm of an old house with high ceilings and wood floors and the beauty and comfort of a modern house. I would recommend bringing your own towels as there was not enough for the 9 people in our party. Everyone of our guests were pleased with the house, commenting on how pretty and comfortable it was. The house is located in a neighborhood that seemed a little sketchy to me, but we didn't encounter any problems that you might imagine. It was a perfect place for us to stay as we celebrated our son's wedding.
Very clean and accommodating. Inside is beautiful and comfortable. We enjoyed the older charm of the house.
The door lock is complicated. I never did fully figure it out and had difficulty every time. Hurt my manliness, lol.
The sofa bed sheet did not fit and had to make due until the next day when sheets that fit were provided.
We indicated in the reservation that we had 9 guests. But there were towels for 6. We had to make due until more towels were provided the next day.
None of these things would prevent me from renting again. I would just check right away if everything is in order before night time falls.
The house is very old & although it's been restored, there are unavoidable things with an old house: very creaky floors & doors. (Not great for people with babies or people needing privacy). Original tubs/showers are very narrow have rust stains. They are clean, but don't look clean. There were critters in the attic & walls. We never saw them, but heard them. Also, the mattresses weren't great. Two of them were VERY firm; the other was thin & old. Also, the area is a little rundown and the house is very close to low-income housing. Overall, the house is very cute & we enjoyed our stay, but it needs a little TLC.
