TREAT YOURSELF with this luxury cabin that will make you feel like you truly "got away" despite being in the heart of the capitol city. Nothing can quite replace that bone-deep relaxation that a cabin in the woods can deliver, and these cedar-lined walls and sky-high ceilings offer you just that.
You get to step back in time when you enter the Capitol Cabin, to the 70s to be exact. The rich colors and fancy architecture will so transport you that you will ask, "Am I in a movie right now?!"
The space
You will finally accept that you are, in fact, playing the starring role in this movie called LIFE! Switch on the record player, pour a cold drink, and stretch out in front of floor-to-ceiling glass windows to soak up the sunshine.

Gabriel thank you sooo much for the 5-⭐review! It was such a delight to host your family. I'm so glad you made it through the snow and ice storm. That was a rough one.
We look forward to hosting you again in the future! Blessings!
We had such a great experience staying in this house. My kids kept saying, "Wow, this is such a cool place!" I loved that I got to show them what a record player was, hah! This was in a perfect location for going to the Enchanted Forest and Silver Falls. Check-in was easy and owner was responsive.
It's a fantastic place and location. The window in one of the bedrooms was not working and communication with the owner before the check-in was a little glitchy but it worked out. Would stay again.
I was able to see my Son and Brother. The home was Great , couldn't ask for a better location
The host Heather was easy to work with , which made our stay that much better ! Highly recommended
My family totally loved this house! We were in Salem to drop my daughter off at Willamette University which was only about 15 minutes from the house. It's on a quite culdesac, immaculately
clean, and enough room and privacy for our family of four. I will definitely stay here again when I come to Salem.

Thank you for the 5-star review! It was such a delight to host your family. I'm so glad you enjoyed the blankets. Getting an extra duvet and linen sheet and linen duvet cover was high on my priority list. Look forward to hosting you again soon!
We really loved our stay at Capitol Cabin! It was the perfect fit for me and my son and his girlfriend while we visited my daughter and her wife. Our stay was comfortable, convenient to many things, easy check in/out, seamless communication with the host, and a great value for the cost. I would stay here again without hesitation. We all loved the vibe and retro decor, and the location was perfect. We had everything we needed for our stay and really appreciated Heather's communication and attention to detail. The only thing missing was a dishwasher, but for a shorter stay, it was no problem at all. The next time we come to visit, I'll be checking availability for Capitol Cabin.
So cool! So much thought went into every room. Honestly the house felt like a time machine. For those of us born in the 70s, it was like revisiting your childhood. The house is spectacular and truly an architectual wonder. The wood thoughtout gives the home a warmth that is lacking in our modern homes and the little touches like even the light switches demonstrate that this house has more character than any house we've seen in a long time. We loved it! We spent hours listening to the record player cruising through the old vinyl. We never even turned on the TV. Our new favorite place in Salem!
Updated cabin in a quiet residential neighborhood. We appreciated the coffee and warm linens. We will certainly stay there again when we come to Salem.
This place was darling, better than the listing for sure! Very clean, quiet little neighborhood, not far from anything you may need. It's provided with all necessities as well. We would definitely stay again.
Thank you, Heather for a wonderful stay!

About the host
Hosted by Heather Rauh
Design! I love it!! I want to create spaces where people feel inspired. Able to rest, cook, and bond with those they love. All while feeling they have all they need and more to create memories that become foundational in their relationships.
I am married to my husband of 12 years. We have three young children and nine chickens. We are grateful every day to be a part of the Salem community. And we delight in being able to share the Capitol Cabin with you during your travels.
Why they chose this property
My partner and I were immediately captivated by this custom home. The natural lighting, the angles, the materials, and even the size. It is art. My kind of art. A thoughtfully sculpted house, brimming with character and natural texture. The Capitol Cabin is sculpture that you get to eat, love, rest, and sleep in.
Our initial intention was to buy a property on the beach as our first short-term rental. But when this house came on market here in Salem, where we live, I couldn't stay away. It was exactly the short of house my husband and I would live in if we had chosen to not have kids. That said, we have 3 young children we love dearly, so a two bedroom house is not going to suit our needs at this time.
"But why not when we are empty nesters?" we asked ourselves. That would be the perfect time to own this home. And we want to have short-term rentals, so why not this one. It is perfect, with so much style, and nearby to our personal home in Salem. So why don't we buy our future home -- the 15-years in the future home -- now, share this beautiful architecture with travelers, and be halfway through our mortgage by the time we are ready for it? Why not indeed?
So here we are. Throwing our own style, attention to detail, and creative expression on into a home that we now get to share with you. We hope you enjoy your stay!!
What makes this property unique
Unique three-tier home design, cozy urban cabin vibe. 14' ceilings, 10' south-facing windows with made-to-order linen curtains, natural wood inside and out. Remarkable amount of natural light, with noteworthly light fixtures for after dark.
Double door entryway with coat closet accessible from short walkway and interior garage door. Staircase leads to open concept living room, with a second, shorter stairway to the kitchen/dining area. Hallway leads to back bedrooms and bathrooms. Two-level deck situated within modest, sloped backyard. Private patio with bistro table and chairs accessible from both bedrooms.
