We had an amazing time staying here. The house and property were perfect. It was so nice to get away and unplug for a while. And loved how close the house was to the frio!!!!

Great retreat on beautiful Texas ranch
We felt very blessed to spend a week at this cabin on a Texas ranch, surrounded by beautiful, dramatic canyons! The large cabin has one dorm type room upstairs that could accommodate a large group, in addition to two other bedrooms. The wrap around porches, player piano, historical, and inspiring spiritual books, all added to our relaxation and enjoyment. We enjoyed hiking the property, and sailing homemade boats on the pond with the grandkid. The Chapel is beautiful, and a testament to family love of a mother/grandmother who must have been extraordinary! The Nye's were very hospitable, and we're willing to facilitate any need. We can highly recommend!
This place is wonderful! Secure your rental now and don't even hesitate. It's beautiful and we were all so impressed. Our life group stayed together for two nights. 9 adults. This place is clean, peaceful, well stocked, comfy beds, great water pressure, secluded, and a great location. If you plan on tubing, it's about a 30 minute drive down to Concan. There is a beautiful chapel on the property as well. Also, the owner is a delight to deal with. Go for it! No regrets here and we hope to return someday!

Thanks, Sharolyn! So glad y'all had a great trip - please come stay again!
You can not find another place that offers such attention to detail and comfort amidst a majestic setting. We were a group of 6 women, all family ranging in age from 80 to mid-30's. It was the perfect time for us to all gather, reflect, giggle, and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. The chapel was the "icing on the cake." You can not help but feel the love that went into the property and chapel...you will leave refreshed.
The owners go our of their way to assist you in any way possible.
Mere words do not express the beautiful experience.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Patricia! My parents really enjoyed meeting you and your friends. We are so glad you had a wonderful stay and hope you will visit our place again!
We had A wonderful time. The house was amazing And had some great history. In speaking with the owner’s daughter, Caroline, she had mentioned that her grandfather had built the chapel for her grandmother. It’s truly a little piece of heaven there. Stunning grounds and the house is very lovely. We enjoyed our visit and wish that we had some more time to stay. We’ll definitely go back.

Exceptional Property & Home!
This is the vacation location that the family will always remember. Big open living areas * Windows with gorgeous private hill country views * Kitchen supplied with every need and convenience * Spacious bedroom arrangements upstairs for cozy sleep and more together times * Wonderful fireplace for a perfect fall or winter day * The great outdoors of hills, trees, a pond and a yard to play ... the owners are exceptionally kind and accommodating and their home is maintained with obvious care and attention to detail. In our party there were 4 adults and 5 children and we all were very glad to make our 2nd visit earlier this year. (It was so nice to see "Children Welcome" in the listing information.) Did i mention the wrap around covered porches both upstairs and down? Fantastic, especially on a rainy day! Thank you to the owners for allowing us this time to play, reflect and appreciate God's creation!

What an amazing property !
This property was wonderful! This Texas Hill country home and the land it is located on is private, off the beaten path, yet close to town and the Garner state park. The attention to detail in planning the layout of the house and grounds made our trip care free, relaxing, and left us in awe. We would recommend this and hope to be reserve our next summer there as well. The photos listed are good, but do not show how well maintained and beautiful the house and grounds are. We feel blessed to have had the opportunity to come actors this and stay there. The owners were so helpful with being available to walk us through check in and departure details with a personal call a few days before our stay and were there to help with any questions we had on accessing all the amenities on the property. Thank you Nye family!

Serene natural retreat
It was pure grace staying at this cabin. It is a beautiful place, thoughtfully equipped, clean comfortable & well furnished. It was a pleasure working with the owner to make the arrangements (both before, and afterward). We could really feel the love and blessing that have been shared here by many groups, individuals and family members over the years. We loved our weekend here and came back home feeling deeply refreshed.
We stayed during the spring wildflower season and the nights were cool enough to leave the A/C off and windows open to the fresh air... the sound of the springfed creek was right outside our window. Wonderful!
Sleeping areas are all upstairs - two private bedrooms and a larger open room with many twin beds. (If you have difficulty with stairs, this cabin is not a good fit for you.) Our room & bed was very comfortable.
The wrap-around porches are a great place to sit with coffee, watch the sun rise, listen to the morning birds singing. The pond is stocked with fish and the water is cool and clean if you want to swim.. there's a rope swing into the pond.
This cabin and grounds would be perfect for a Christian retreat - there is a lovely chapel within a short walk from the cabin.
Lost Maples State Natural Area is just a few miles down the road - great hiking here.
If you love the beauty of nature and want a quiet, peaceful place to refresh and renew your spirits - this is a great home-away-from-home for that.

Ideal family retreat
We just returned from a week of bliss at this beautiful home in the best part of the hill country. This property has all you need to get away from the hectic pace of everyday life.We really enjoyed fishing, hiking to the chapel, and star gazing at night. The pond and stream on the property are truly unique. The children especially loved watching the deer eat from the feeder on the property as they swayed back and forth in the hammocks, and the back porch is a bird watchers paradise. Garner State Park is just a few miles away with several swimming holes fed by the cool clear Frio river and the drive to and from the house in each direction is very scenic. House is very well maintained and was completely stocked with everything we needed. Tom, it was a pleasure dealing with you and we hope to return real soon.

Perfect!
Perfect! I have been going to Leakey for over a decade now and have never enjoyed my stay as much as I did here. The pictures and descriptions were were great but just could not do it justice. The running stream and pond were awesome for the kids. Swimming, fishing and hiking all right there. This is a beautiful home with everything you need to get away from the rest of the world. The Nye Family was gracious and extremely considerate.
While staying here it was only a short drive to the beautiful Concan Country Club and the House Pasture Restruant where we enjoyed a great meal and live entertainment. Thank you for allowing my family and friends to experience this little piece of heaven. We look forward to returning as soon as possible.
Thanks, again, and God Bless!

Truly a "Little Patch of Heaven"!!!
Thank you Nye Family for extending your beautiful home to us! We had a family reunion there (it was much needed- my mother lost her mother a week before) and we had all the grandkids there. The kids (ranging from 3-16) had a BLAST! They caught their first fish in the pond, played board games, danced and sang to the player piano, and did a little exploring on the ranch. We even had a 200+ egg Easter egg hunt. The chapel on the premises was a sight! We spent Easter Sunday in there for a little while and the view was breath-taking! (For the kids, it was like the movies, "Grown ups" with Adam Sandler, not an electronic in sight, no ipods, xbox, cell phones or internet! They bonded and used their imagination to the next level like when we were kids)
About the property: It is absolute designed for family reunions, in our opinion! The kids loved the 8 bed 'dorm' room style room, and loved waking up and watching cardinals and birds on the top wrap around balcony. The amenities were extraordinary! Brand name linens, towels, top of the line pillow top mattresses (my back did not even hurt after a long hike at Lost Maples), and just-like-home kitchen appliances and cookware. (It was not a cheap after thought or seconds to stick in a vacation home). I personally loved the hammocks in the front porch and my husband liked the Cabela's lounge chair overlooking the bird feeder. It is an extraordinary well-kept home with lots of care. (We stayed in a few Leakey cabins in the past and this tops it all!) My 5 year old saw his first firefly as well! They miss "Mr. Cloud" already who is the imaginary piano player to play them their Disney classic pieces.
Please keep in mind, there is no cell phone or internet service, it was great to not have that electronic device attached to my body for 3 days (but I got 65 emails! ouch!) The trails are not marked well, but it's a work in progress; we don't currently recommended it for young kids just yet as there are a lot of fallen trees/branches. There was a severe burn ban, so no open fires including charcoal- so the kids missed out on grilled burgers and hot dogs but we improvised and made stove top and picnic'ed outside.
We will be back and hope everyone takes great care of it like we and the Nyes do! Thanks again!

Rest, Relaxation and Fun!
Our family stayed here over Spring Break and it was marvelous!! The main house was very very spacious and had all the amenities in the kitchen, etc. I can't say how much fun we had and enjoyed fishing every day! Lots and lots of fishing to be had! The scenery was beautiful and calm, and we loved sleeping with the windows cracked to fall asleep to the spring. It is truly a beautiful Patch of Heaven! We will be back for sure! Thanks to Tom and his family for making our vacation special!

About the host
Your host
Welcome to our ranch home! We are Thomas and Pamela Nye and are life-long residents of Corpus Christi. We have five children and eleven grandchildren. My parents have been visiting this part of the Texas Hill Country since the 1950s. Our ranch has been in the family for over 20 years and we have enjoyed many fun-filled family gatherings here. This is a very special place for experiencing the beauty of God's creation in nature and wildlife.
Why they chose this property
We chose the Texas Hill Country for its beauty and its peaceful solitude away from the busyness and stress of the city. We love the outdoors and especially hiking, bird watching, and viewing wildlife while sitting on our front porch.
What makes this property unique
You can enjoy hiking to the source of our natural spring, watching a beautiful moon rise up over the valley, or stargazing on a clear, cool night. This unique place is special for families who want to spend time together and make unforgettable memories.
