Historic Lilac Cottage - sleeps 8, firepit, nearby river access
Take a break and gently swing on one of the porch swings while listening to the song birds and leaves rustling in the breeze.
Styled in the vein of an english cottage with vintage and antique furniture, wood beamed ceilings in the cottage style kitchen, and cottage rose linens. Refinished wood floors throughout, 2 sleek modern baths with walk in showers, a bonus 1/2 bath in the laundry room, pretty front porch outfitted for dining and relaxing, side patio with a grill, fire pit, and another swing.
Lilac Cottage sits on a secluded 4.5 acre partially wooded property in a quiet rural neighborhood. Staying at our historic two-story clapboard house is a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of regular busy lives. It’s a place for quietly sitting on the porches or around the fire pit with a chilled glass of wine. Cook up some steaks on the grill or make a lovely brunch in the well appointed antique kitchen. Curl up on the sofa and watch movies, toast marshmallows on the fire pit. Bring your mitts and play a game of catch, or play Scrabble at the dining room table. Life pleasantly slows down in Norwood!
Perfect for three or four responsible couples with or without children to escape to the rejuvenating countryside. Enjoy an abundance of vineyards, breweries, cideries, and distilleries located around the county or book a massage at the Lovingston Spa. 45 minutes to Wintergreen, ten minutes to Oak Ridge Estate and Lockn, halfway between Charlottesville and Lynchburg. Your host, Renee Grant, can help you plan your stay and, on request, provides worry-free advanced provisioning.
There is central air and heat throughout the entire house.
The kitchen includes a four burner stove, dishwasher, microwave, keurig coffee maker, crock pot, mini waffle iron, toaster, and all the necessities. A washer and dryer are available so you can wash your clothes after enjoying the great outdoors.
You're welcome to enjoy a cigarette outside. However, we don't allow any smoking in the house. Please dispose of properly so you don't start a forest fire, per Smokey the Bear!
It’s wonderful to come relax in the country- remember that with this peaceful beauty, you may encounter wildlife, to include a variety of bugs like ticks and stinkbugs. An exterminator routinely comes to kill the bugs, but it is impossible to keep more bugs from coming from the surrounding yards and forest. Expect to perform tick inspections, as you would whenever walking or hiking in any grassy field or forest path once the frost is over.
Welcome and enjoy our pretty cottage!
<> Guest access You will have access to the entire house and property.
We also own a nearby property about 4 miles away where you can have nearly exclusive access to a private wooded trail down to Ruckers Run, a small wadable river. Ask Renee for details if you are interested.
