Kitchen was well-stocked, we had everything we needed. Joel and Lydia timely communicated to us the seamless check in process and let us know they were there to assist if we needed anything but otherwise were out of the way!Would definitely stay again.
Great spot and really easy checkin and check out process. The location was within walking distance to different restaurants and was perfect for our trip.
We enjoyed staying here. The hosts were extremely nice and the property had everything we were looking for.
Location is right on the edge of downtown Portland. Shops and most restaurants are just a short walk.
We would stay here again!
We loved our stay! The showers, floors, beds, and kitchen were all extremely clean. Very pleased with everything. The stairs were a little steep & narrow, so maybe not a good option for people with bad joints, but all of us 20/30-something year-old’s really enjoyed our stay. The hosts were extremely quick on communication and very friendly. We got to meet Joel one of the days walking out and he was so kind. Happy to have stayed here.
Joel and Lydia's apt is lovely. Spotlessly clean, well appointed, sunny, a delight. The area is very walkable to the port section of town and close to restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed our stay there and would stay again.
Great hosts, very nice place, good location. Not sure if the upstairs shower head was supposed to work but the hand-held one did so we were able to manage. Thanks again for a great stay!
The apartment was perfect for us (3 couples). It is well-located with lots of walking access to provisions, a park, the waterfront and restaurants/bars. The pictures represent the apartment well. It was very clean and had everything we needed. We didn't cook, but the kitchen has the basics - and multiple coffee-making options. The 3 (adult) bedrooms are about the same, so there's not a master suite for one couple and a kid's room for another. We had a minor issue with the door lock and the host was there immediately to fix the problem. Great communication concerning arrival, parking, etc.
Clean, spacious and very well maintained apartment
The apartment was a nice surprise as rooms are much spacier than we thought from the listing. Very clean, comfortable and hosts were great at communicating. I highly recommend this property for a group of friends or family.
Our group of five (~55-65-year-olds) truly had a great getaway at Lydia and Joel’s apartment and they were excellent hosts.
The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, while the living areas were perfect for gathering for morning coffee and regrouping after shopping, sightseeing, socializing, lunching/brunching, and dinners out. We were an easy walk to the MANY area restaurants, shopping, Portland Museum of Art (free 3rd Thurs), happy hours, and bowling. We would stay here again!
The house is in great condition and is decorated nicely. Joel is kind and really accommodating. It is super close to some fun, trendy spots but I would suggest keeping a buddy system if you’re walking along the street at night (similar to any city). It’s a great spot for big groups!
I am giving the rental a 5 star because the owner Joel was super friendly an responses and unit is beautiful and very clean. The only issue we encountered was the bathrooms. We specifically rented this house because it has 2 bathrooms(showers). One shower is not usable so we all had to share 1 shower. Not the end of the world but I could have rented a place for much less with 1 shower to share. The 2nd bath does have a tub if that is something you are open to.
Again, the rental is beautiful and very clean.

Thanks for the review Ann, and for staying at our place.
As we shared with you, we discovered on your move-in day from the cleaners, that the previous guests had broken the shower curtain in the second bathroom making it a potential hazard for falling on someone who was using the shower. It is for this reason we advised it was best to avoid it. The emergency carpenter came on the day you left and fixed the issue. There are two functional full bathrooms in the apartment. I am sorry your party was inconvenienced.
Joel.
The unit is family friendly, clean and despite a few things overall met our family’s needs. The hosts were very friendly and helpful when needed. The unit is located in the homeless portion of town. For the most part we felt safe, but there were a few times we felt uneasy. The unit contains 2 sets of steep narrow stairs, one upon entering the unit and the other inside to access the second floor, making it difficult to carry your heavy luggage. Luckily we had some strong family members to assist. Some areas of the wooden floors are uneven and have a raised trim between the rooms/doorways which we found ourselves tripping on. We found it very difficult to regulate the heat/temperature throughout the house and had to open windows or run the window a/c units to cool it down. Lastly a smoke detector was missing in one of the rooms. We probably wouldn’t have noticed had the alarms not gone off due to a battery issue in another alarm. The Hosts were extremely helpful in correcting this problem.

Hello Diane,
I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I had thought everything was going well since I checked in with your guests a couple of times, and they confirmed all was fine. Portland has a known homelessness crisis, especially downtown where we are. Although you may see homeless individuals, as you mentioned, there's generally no associated crime with it. You can only avoid seeing homelessness people if you stay in the suburbs.
Our apartment is one of the highest rated in Portland, and we've had only 5-star reviews for the past two years until now. We take great pride in offering a clean, well-equipped, and safe space for our guests. Regarding the fire alarm, we have a high-quality & sensitive system, one unit triggered a false alarm. We removed the faulty unit but still had seven others installed and two extra in the kitchen to ensure safety.
To accommodate Portland's fluctuating October temperatures, we kept both heat and AC units available so guests could control the temp. to their liking. I specifically asked one of your guests if they had located the thermostats and offered help. They said everything was ok. That's why your comments in the review were unexpected.
Our rental has a 15-step staircase to both the entrance and the bedroom floor, and we make it prominent on this platform so guests with mobility issues are aware before booking.
In the future, please let us know right away about any concerns so you don’t have to endure easily fixable issues.
Pros: The place is absolutely beautiful, exactly as pictured. Tons of room, great facilities. Very clean. Great water pressure and plenty of hot water. We had an issue with the smoke detector and Joel was very responsive. Only a few blocks to restaurants and shopping.
Cons: The homeless situation (very sad) is quite apparent in this neighborhood. Didn't feel unsafe per se, but it was questionable at times. Quite a bit of yelling right outside the house, often after midnight, often obscene. Definitely kept us awake one or two nights. Also, the upstairs shower head is very low, I'm 5' 9" and had to duck to be under it.
Overall, a great place to stay, just stay aware of your surroundings.
Our first time in Portland was such a blast! This property is exactly as pictured and described here. The kitchen is very cute too which wasn’t shown in the photos. Joel was great and communication was clear. He even worked to get our group extra parking spots. Would definitely recommend this property just a 15 minute walk to most things we wanted to do downtown
