About this property
Cozy log cabin in the heart of the Fichtelgebirge
Do you want your vacation home to be something special? Then my wooden log house in the heart of the Fichtelgebirge nature park is just right for you. The house was built to 95% from renewable, natural raw materials and offers a very special indoor climate with its wooden block walls made of mountain spruce. The 1.5-storey house has everything you need for a relaxing holiday with a bedroom, a bathroom and a kitchen on a floor area of 50m². A loft under the roof offers children an independent play and sleep adventure. A fireplace, which can be heated with logs available on the property, ensures a cozy get-together in the evening. The property is surrounded by corn or sunflower fields, depending on what the local farmers sowed in spring. From the spacious west terrace there is a view of the Egertal, which always invites you to take a walk. Extended hikes through the Fichtelgebirge and the adjacent Bohemian Forest can also be practically carried out from the front door. The Fichtelgebirge is known for its porcelain, including Hutschenreuther and Rosenthal, to name just a few brands. A visit to the factory sales halls or the porcelain museum in Selb is highly recommended. Events take place regularly in the nearby Thierstein Castle in summer. At the annual Luisenburg Festival near Wunsiedel, theater enthusiasts in the oldest open-air theater in Germany will get their money's worth in front of the rocky backdrop of Europe's largest rock labyrinth - advance booking required!

About the host
Hosted by Benjamin Dittmar
Grown-up in Berlin, meanwhile living in Munich, but the Fichtelgebirge and especially the little village of Neuhaus/Eger still are the holiday places of my childhood. Almost every summer holidays I spend up to 3 weeks at my grandparents farm, that is located next door of the wooden cabin. My mum was born in the village, I am a born "Rawatzer" how the locals call the inhabitants of nearby Marktredwitz. I am happy now that today I have the chance to give my guests an understanding about some of the charachteristics of the Fichtelgebirge by renting out this special place to people from all over the world.
Why they chose this property
My mum inherited the property of my grandpa and so did I from her. In the fall of 2016 I decided to use it for the construction of a holiday home. And clearly, as I spend many weekends in hundred-year-old huts in the Alps, it should become a wooden cabin. After the official surveying of the ground and the connection to the infrastructure the construction of the cabin started in late 2017 by a specialized company. After a few weekends in 2018 with loads of personal contribution, I am proud to be able to rent out the place to guest this year.
What makes this property unique
A house made of the natural ressource wood has a special indoor climate. The logs made of Alpine spruce naturally regulate the air humidity by diffusion and retention. The house was build with organic consultancy and consists of about 95% environmentally friendly and renewable resources.
