Easy ski in/out
Close to iron horse lift, great ski and gear storage. Triple bunk beds really only suitable for kids, but fun space for our families to gather. Lots of games and puzzles in house.
This was a great place for three couples and my two children siblings and to gather - not too fancy but clean and comfortable. The place is actually four bedrooms - 1 master king with en suite on the top floor, 1 queen on the bottom floor, 1 other queen that leads out to the hot tub on the bottom floor, and then an additional fourth bedroom that has those triple bunks in kind of a basement space (with a door so it’s private). The triple bunks are really tight height wise so teenagers at most but better for my age kids. The beds were firm. Despite all of our people we felt the bathrooms were enough. The kitchen needs more baking dishes, cookie sheets, wine glasses, pint glasses, plastic cups. The washer and dryer did the job but the dryer was very very squeaky. Great entryway mudroom with tons of cubbies. Hot tub was excellent! Views were spectacular. The ski on was great, just a 2 minute walk over to the entryway that leads you right to iron horse. The ski off was okay (take powder ridge) and could be done by most although a little steep at the end, and you still have to bring your stuff back to the house (2-3 minute walk), but very convenient. Overall exceeded our expectations because we were not expecting that third bedroom and bunk space to be separate! Great communication with management company.

Our trip started with realizing that we were stranded in Moonlight Basin because there is no shuttle to the base and renters are not allowed access to the lodge. So, there is no access at Al to ski rentals, restaurants or groceries. If you stay here you need to have a rental car to be able to do anything. We spent the first day of our vacation getting the runaround from Vacasa about repairing the hot tub in the unit that would not heat. They finally (after 8 hours of back and forth) said that a hot tub was not included with the unit despite a picture of a bubbling hot tub being the second picture on the listing. They refused to have someone service it or refund any of the exorbitant amount of money we paid to stay here. The unit is very dated but convenient to the Iron Horse lift for skiing This is our second bad experience with Vacasa in 2 months and we will never rent through them again.

Location is as advertised if not better. As long as Iron Horse is running, you’ll be good to go. Would recommend 4WD vehicle if you’re renting in the winter. Two downsides to this property:
1. there’s an in-wall noise level monitoring system. You don’t really have any way of knowing how loud is “too loud” until you receive a text from Vacasa. And even then, when we asked for more details to prevent further issues, they wouldn’t provide much information. The units on either side of us were vacant for the first few days during our stay, but we would still get messages of “potential excessive noise”. Once neighbors arrived, they seemed friendly for the record. Even offered to let us use their hot tub while ours warmed up. This wasn’t the biggest issue in hindsight, but definitely added some stress to the stay.
2. No guidance on what to do with trash. Vacasa was not helpful in figuring this out. We had to drive into town to find dumpsters.
I wouldn’t say either of these issues really takeaway too much from the bang for your buck you’re getting at this rental. Nicely kept place in an excellent location.

Erik, thank you for your review. We sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced during your time with us.
We are disappointed to read that your recent experience was not satisfactory. We will continue to work with both our local staff and homeowner to make improvements to this home, and we hope you'll give us a second chance to impress you!
The location of the townhouse was truly ski-in/ski-out; we could ski directly from the front door to the base of the Iron Horse lift and make it almost all the way back (after getting up enough speed). The Moonlight Basin area was a quiet well-maintained townhome community with signs on the mountain making it effortless to get back. The interior of the house was super cozy, nicely decorated, and had comfortable furniture. It had the best mudroom/ski cubby/half-bath setup right inside the door of any ski rental we’ve seen bar none. The views were spectacular from both the living area and the private hot tub, which was awesome and saw a lot of use. The kitchen was well-stocked with lots of gadgets and cooking equipment. There were a few things that could use a little TLC (loose plumbing fixtures, beat-up non-stick pans, fireplace controls), but nothing to get too worked up about. The only negative was communication with VACASA, the management company. There was no information sheet provided electronically or in the unit and it was never clear what to do with the trash and recycling. I contacted customer support (call center) via e-mail, chat, and phone and was able to get in touch with someone easily enough, but the response each time was that they would transfer to request to local management, who would contact me (which never happened and there was no way to contact them directly). We ended up collecting trash and recycling in an unused bedroom so we didn’t have to look at it piling up, but I was glad there was nothing that needed urgent maintenance. All in all, a great say and we would definitely stay here again – thinking of booking next year now!

Relaxing getaway
Nice condo in the Moonlight basin area. Stayed in July and thoroughly enjoyed the activities at Big Sky that were only a few minutes down the mountain. Unit was clean and we enjoyed the hot tub!
