About this property

Mountain cabin w/hot tub & fire pit

Summary:

Experience a cozy mountain retreat at Hummingbird Ridge, where peaceful woods and seasonal charm invite families and small groups to unwind together.

- Sleeps 10 | 4 bedrooms | 7 beds | 1.5 baths

- Hot tub & outdoor fire pit w/ seating

- Large deck w/ string lights & BBQ grill

- Pellet stove fireplace & spacious living area

- Fully equipped kitchen, Smart TV & WiFi

- Dedicated workspace, play area & pet-friendly

The Space:

Morning light filters through tall windows as the scent of pine drifts in, and the gentle hum of the valley invites you to slow down. On the deck, string lights twinkle above a fresh breeze while the hot tub steams softly against a backdrop of budding trees. Inside, the pellet stove offers a warm glow for cooler evenings, and the fire pit waits for crisp spring nights. You’ll feel the rhythm of the season and the comfort of a thoughtfully renovated retreat.

Sleeping arrangements

The cabin comfortably sleeps up to ten guests across four bedrooms. One bedroom features a double bed. Two bedrooms each include twin‑over‑queen bunk beds, ideal for families or mixed‑age groups. The fourth bedroom has two twin beds. Bed linens, extra pillows, and blankets are provided for cooler nights.

Bathrooms

Guests have access to one newly renovated full bathroom and an additional half bath located upstairs. Bathroom essentials are supplied for convenience.

Kitchen & dining

A fully equipped kitchen provides ample counter space and seating nearby, making it easy to prepare and share meals after a day of exploring. A Smart TV and Wi‑Fi support movie nights and video calls, though service may be slower or spotty due to the remote location—downloading content ahead of time is recommended.

Outdoor living

The large deck, accented with string lighting, offers a scenic spot for fresh air and sunrise coffee. The hot tub remains a favorite year‑round, perfect for unwinding as steam rises into the evening sky. A fire pit with surrounding seating encourages evenings spent roasting s’mores and sharing stories. The grassy backyard, though not fully fenced, includes a children’s play area and space for outdoor games when the weather permits.

Living space & work

Step through the red front door into a spacious living area with high ceilings and expansive windows that bring the outdoors in. The pellet stove serves as a cozy focal point for cooler evenings, while electric heat and window A/C units keep the interior comfortable throughout the year. A dedicated workspace in a private room offers a quiet spot for focused tasks.

Location

Nestled in Mount Jackson, the cabin is a short drive from the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, offering scenic hikes and seasonal beauty. Bryce Resort is about twenty minutes away, providing winter sports in colder months and warmer‑weather recreation during spring and summer, along with dining and local shops.

Perfect for

Pet‑friendly families, friends, and small groups seeking a mountain retreat where a dog is welcome but cats are not allowed. Whether you gather around the pellet stove, soak in the hot tub on a cool evening, or explore the surrounding forest, Hummingbird Ridge provides a comfortable base for a Shenandoah Valley escape.

You can not beat the tranquility of this secluded spot in the mountains. And the owner's communication was fast and efficient. The bed was super comfy and the view of the stars at night was sublime. I enjoyed my stay very much.

It Is What IT IS.

It was surprising what the cabin did and did not have. It was better than most as far as cookware, kitchen supplies, shower supplies and so forth. It was under supplied in tea towels (for a week of cooking), electrical outlets near mirrors (to style one's hair - no outlet in the bathroom) and no dresser, closet or even a luggage rack in the smallest bedroom. Linens were nice. We enjoyed use of the deck grill, fire pit and hot tub and grilled and cooked daily. It is pet friendly but no gates are on the porch. They say to bring your own baby gates (2) which we do not have. I would've rented 2 if they made that an option. We had a blast zip line riding and my 10 year old grandson could not stop taking pics at Luray Caverns. Fantastic place. My favorite pants badly snagged on a rough spot on the deck . Some safety issues exist. The steps up from the driveway to the deck steps are unsafe and steep. We are retired, not young, and my husband has 2 ribs still healing from a past injury. He had to drag two ice chests and one large suitcase up those unsteady steps to the deck steps. The lose stepping stones up to the hot tub are dangerous for children and adults. The deck around the hot tub is to narrow to safely uncover and cover the tub. Narrow deck exists at the tub entry. Two chairs were broken. The rocking chair inside; we reported quickly. It was not repaired during our stay. A lovely wooden deck chair was also falling apart. The shower curtain is hung to low and drags on the shower floor. Another fall risk . We will return to the area one autumn; when my youngest grandchild is big enough to zip line on Mamma Bear. They will want to see Luray Cavern again. We will look for a different cabin. A safer one.

Nice Chalet in convenient location

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was bigger than expected and the rooms were nice. Communication with the owner was easy. The hot tub was an added bonus. AND, the firepit in back was nicely setup.

A very cozy cabin

Perfect if you have a group of friends that just need an escape. The cabin is great, the fire pit is very nice, and it’s secluded enough where you have a sense of privacy.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Hummingbird Ridge in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
