This was a business trip and the location was perfect for working in Ravenswood. For the same price as the distant HI, you get a full house with good work places and a wonderful couch to catch a nap. Bedding was comfortable, wi-fi was solid and the house was clean and quiet. Thanks for a great stay!
Very clean home. Owners extremely nice always text back quickly. Neighborhood was quiet. Really enjoyed our stay! Would definitely book again if we come back to that area!
We enjoyed our stay in this charming home. It worked out perfectly for my husband to work remotely for a couple of weeks while I helped my daughter and family with their new baby. Ravenswood is a quaint town with a nice playground for children and a lovely park with a walking trail by the river. This home is not fancy, but it was comfortable
We stayed at this home during a long weekend visit to Ravenswood/Ripley. The listing is an accurate depiction. The home was clean and well stocked. The deck is great for quiet mornings or visiting with friends in the evening. communication with the host was excellent.
My husband and I needed a place to stay last minute due to a death in the family that could also accommodate our two dogs. The owners were super responsive and allowed us to book with less than 48 hours notice. The house itself is absolutely charming, with all of the necessities one would need to feel the comforts of home. I even found a little bit of peace during this time through a soak in the clawfoot tub upstairs.
The house is absolutely beautiful! But not over loaded with personal items. Mr. Jim Porter was a beloved band teacher in Ravenswood for 60 (!) years! A high school band teacher that withstood the test of time. I just heard on my trip here, there has never been one after Mr. Porter!
My sister and I inherited this home from our father, Jim Porter. He was considered Ravenswood's "Music Man' because he was band director from 1952 to 1980. We, like many in our era, grew up loving Ravenswood and he encouraged us to keep the house in the family as long as possible. Of course, the cost of running our homes (we live in NC) preculdes us being able to pay for the utilities, upkeep, and taxes on another home. So we have it on open on the VRBO platform as a vacation rental and are trying to make it pay for itself. We honestly have not made any money on the house, we are just happy to break even and still be able to visit ourselves and enjoy Ravenswood!
Why they chose this property
We love the water - you can bring a boat, canoe, kayak and put them in at the nearby riverfront park, a half mile away. We love visiting friends and many of our renters are coming to see friends, family, and attend class reunions. I still love just walks in the morning and evenings! Nearby towns like Point Pleasand, Pomroy Ohio as well as the bigger towns like Charleston and Parkersburg give additional activities like music venues and restaurants. Many of our guests have enjoyed just relaxing and unwinding in our peaceful town.
What makes this property unique
Our property is comfortable inside and out. Since I am an outdoor person, I love the spacious front, side and back yards. The deck overlooking the creek is just a wonderful hang out spot and a favorite of our guests.
