About this property

Spacious Beachfront 1 BR + Loft (sleeps up to 5)

When the developer built this 18 unit condominium in 1973, he saved this unit for his family. One look will tell you why. It is the largest unit in the complex and is wonderfully spacious and open. Decorated in seaside colors, our unit provides a roomy, calm environment. You will instantly feel at home.

The view from this second floor unit is spectacular.

The living room has a soaring 18 ft ceiling and an adjoining lanai that features a panoramic view of the islands of Lana'i and Moloka'i and the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see. The large sectional couch is a sofa-bed.

The large lanai has plenty of room for afternoon sunning or outside dining for four. Imagine breakfast on the lanai watching the whales breach offshore or having dinner or a drink while watching the sun set.

The well appointed kitchen has the same spectacular view as the living room.

Above the kitchen and overlooking the living room is a sleeping loft with a Queen sized bed. At night, all you hear is the surf.

The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and plenty of closet space.

The bathroom consists of two rooms: one with a walk-in shower and toilet; and the other, with a large vanity and sink.

The grounds are beautifully maintained. Your lanai overlooks the pool which is steps away from the ocean and a beautiful lawn with plenty of lounge chairs. It's like having your own private yard. Great swimming, snorkeling and surfing are right offshore.

Great Place!

This was the most well-equipped unit we have stayed in, and we have stayed in many over the years. Kitchen is wonderful, beds are comfortable, spacious comfortable feeling, great view from the lanai, easy access (parking takes getting used to, as others have mentioned, but is doable), and congenial, easy-to-communicate-with host. Lovely airy condo right on the beach a few miles north of Lahaina. Fully outfitted with everything you would need. We cooked most evenings and enjoyed the beautiful Maui sunsets on the lanai. Highly recommended place to stay.

What an amazing place to spend our Christmas holiday! The view is unbeatable, with gorgeous sunsets every night and views of turtles and whales from our lanai daily. The building only has a handful of units so it has very cozy vibes verses staying at a resort. The property itself is quite private which was perfect for us. The waves were a little intense some days so it was nice to have the pool, as well as the little sand bar up away from the waves. Some things to note. The mattress in the sofa bed and in the loft could be replaced (unless you’re a spring chicken that can sleep anywhere). You can hear the waves as you drift off to sleep, which was a huge bonus for us. The unit comes with a window AC unit for the master bedroom, however it wasn’t needed during our stay. The unit comes with a washer and dryer which was lovely to have, but could use an update. Our lanai was large and we enjoyed our morning coffee and all our meals out there. The other guests were friendly and everyone was respectful of the condo rules. Overall our trip was amazing and we loved staying at this property. We look forward to going back!

My family and I had an amazing time during our stay. We’ve stayed at another unit at Hoyochi Nikko before, and we would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a laid-back, less crowded Maui experience. I’ve talked to many others who feel the same—once they’ve stayed here, they never want to stay anywhere else on the island.While the building may appear a bit dated from the outside, the property is extremely well maintained. The pool can be a little chilly at times, but it’s always clean. The two Weber gas grills are a great feature—you’ll find yourself wanting to cook just for the ocean view. If you enjoy watching sea turtles, you’ll see them daily.The only minor drawback is the variability of the beach directly in front. Depending on the time of year, you may have a beautiful stretch of sand or very little beach at all. That said, there are other great beaches just a minute away in either direction, so it’s never really an issue.As for this specific unit, it’s clean, comfortable, and has a bright, open feel. I’d absolutely recommend it and would love to come back again. The only potential concern during the hottest times of the year is that the only air conditioning unit is in the master bedroom, so the upstairs loft can get warm. However, we found that by using fans, opening the windows at night, and keeping the AC running with the vents closed during the day, we stayed perfectly comfortable. Highly recommend a stay at this slice of heaven!

We would book this place again. The owner was very responsive. The unit was clean. It was a great location. The view from the lanai was incredible. Only two of us stayed here but it could easily accommodate another couple or a child.

Pure relaxation!

This condo was exactly like the pictures and description. Kitchen was totally stocked for cooking. The view was out of this world! I honestly hate to say more because we’ll never be able to get another booking. It was still unseasonably hot with no tradewinds. Another air conditioner in the living room would make a huge difference. We did find a couple fans which made the hottest time of the day more bearable. My son loved having the loft all to himself but still being close by. We would love to come back for more than 5 nights. The complex is very chill and quiet as a whole and the other guests seemed to follow suit. We were not able to enjoy having a beach at the complex on this trip unfortunately- there was one next door but there is no access. We also loved the restaurant and food recommendations from Don. Super helpful. And Jodi the cleaner was super sweet!

Wonderful condo in a perfect location north of Lahaina. The pictures are 100% accurate! Gorgeous beachfront with beautiful yard and pool. The kitchen is truly incredible - stocked with everything you could possibly need, unlike many condos I've rented. Will definitely return!

The condo was beautiful! The view was extraordinary. We loved sitting in the lanai for morning coffee and caught every sunset at night! The beds and couch were comfortable. However, the only downside was the loft was very hot without air conditioning. We could open the door and get a breeze most days. But there were several without a breeze and the condo roasted in the afternoon and into the evening. The complex is fantastic. Pool was perfect. Lots of space and chairs to lounge around and still watch the ocean. The swimming right in front of the complex was an added bonus. Tons of turtles swimming with us!

If we had the time we’d book this as an annual. Don’s place was better than we could have imagined. Easy Breezy Beachy decor, a lot of space for a Maui condo and had everything you needed to be comfortable. Oh and lots of towel hooks everywhere - a plus for me! Now let’s get to the outdoor. Lanai was huge and amazing, center top unit overlooks the pool, the well maintained grounds and literally steps from beach front ocean! We could watch the turtle highway from our lanai! It was beautiful. What I loved most - it’s a small building, so not a lot of people milling about - some days it felt like our own private beach. But the days we engaged people were fantastic and conisisted of impromptu drinks and pupus. We’ll be back!! Thanks Don for sharing your side of paradise!!

Fantastic location for beaches and golf. The condo is just as beautiful in person as in the photos and tastefully decorated. Comfortable beds and couch for lounging around after an active day. Incredibly private and well cared for facility. Everything you need is there including boogie boards, towels, small ice chest and beach chairs. One of the few properties that sits this close to the water. Grocery store is near and open until 2 AM.

Beautiful property with magical sunsets

We loved our stay at this condo! My husband and I were visiting Hawaii on our babymoon and this was the perfect location for us. The inside of the property is spacious and equipped with all the amenities you need for a lovely stay, and the large balcony provides an amazing view of sunsets in the evening. Other reviewers have mentioned it does get quite warm in the condo as the A/C unit is only in the Master bedroom, which I agree with--for just two people staying, we turned the A/C on and kept the doors closed to the bedroom and had no issue feeling cool at night, however, I can imagine if you're staying in the loft it'd feel quite warm when trying to sleep. The real gem of this property is having oceanfront access PLUS a pool. The beach is private and clean, we were down there every day! We would definitely stay here again on our return visit to Maui.

The condo is well appointed and right on the water with lots of sea turtles

PROs: The view from the balcony was fabulous. You can actually see sea turtles swimming by guests in the water! You can swim near them right off the beach. Amazing. The condo is well decorated and has high end table settings, flat wear, towels, etc, lots of thoughtful hooks and benches for storing everything. The pictures of the view actually don't do it justice. Good location - easy to get to Whaler's Village, Lahaina, and do hiking north. Great pool, BBQ, garden, chairs. CONs: One warning which we wish we had known before we booked the rental car during Covid when very few were available . . . . the garage clearance is only 5 ft 7 inches and our rental SUV would not fit. We only discovered this by reading reviews 3 days prior to our arrival and reached out to the owner! The owner suggested we reach out to the property manager which we did, twice, but never received a response. Luckily, the rental agency just bought a brand new sedan and switched it for us. On arrival, the prior guests had badly damaged the screen door and there was a very large tear about 16 inches long letting bugs in. The property manager fixed it on our 2nd day. The smoke alarm malfunctioned on the 5th day and had to be completely replaced. The property manager did this very quickly. The dining area by the pool is lovely and we were able to finally use it on our 5th night. A large extended family used it every single other night. We stayed at a hot and more humid than usual time - just our dumb luck. The air conditioner in the bedroom cools the bedroom a bit, not a lot, but is quite loud, and never really cooled down the unit. My teens were uncomfortable. We're from AZ so we know heat, but the humidity without a/c was tough. We tried opening windows for a cross breeze, but the master bedroom is steps away from a busy street - so the noise from the cars and guests was very loud at times, especially at night when you are trying to sleep. All of this was tolerable and we enjoyed our time there.

Magical Stay at Hoyochi Nikko

Perfectly located property with your own private slice of heaven. Unbeatable ocean views and super convenient access to your own small beach, replete with sea turtles and colorful fish. We enjoyed a very relaxing stay here and would definitely come back again.

Our family has been coming to Hoyochi Nikko since the place was built. We're second-generation owners. Hoyochi Nikko is a 'Goldilocks' place: not too big and not too small - just right. It is a jewel. The atmosphere is friendly. The Managers, Allyn & Melody, are welcoming and are Hoyochi Nikko's greatest ambassadors.

What makes this property unique

Most Thursday evenings at sunset, weather permitting, Allyn & Melody host a gathering at poolside with appetizers (pupus). Everyone is welcome. Bring your own drink.
