Our casita was finished in March of 2021. It rests on @200 acres with an amazing view of the Monzano Mountains! Just 75 minutes southeast of Albuquerque, it offers easy access to the impressive Salinas Mission Ruins, the Cibola National Forest, and the quaint town of Mountainair. WE continue to upgrade the property by adding amenities such as genuine cowhide rugs and a small herb garden. The brilliant blue skies, fragrant air, and stunning 360-degree views clearly showcase the best of New Mexico. If you would like to be in a stress-free amazingly beautiful environment, this is the place to be!

The Casita is lovely, and the surrounding land beautiful! We had a great time, enjoyed the amenities and the passing trains. Very thoughtfully arranged space, with responsive hosts.
Easily the nicest short term rental we've ever experienced. The house was spotlessly clean, had everything we needed, and was so comfortable. The views were incredible, and we loved spending a little time with the resident equines. Check in was easy and the hosts were so helpful and responsive. We had a wonderful weekend and we can't wait to plan another trip here. Thank you so much for an unforgettable visit.
We had an enjoyable stay at the casita, Deborah was the best hostess, the casita had everything you could ask for. We felt safe and enjoyed our morning coffee sitting on the back porch watching the horses, cows and the property donkey.

The design of the house was a perfect use of space and very functional. The furnishings were a good match to southwest style. The view of the open spaces and Manzano mountains was beautiful. The hosts were very helpful and cordial. No negatives. Will be back in the future.
I couldn’t be more pleased with the Casita! Very clean very comfortable and very affordable for myself and my mom and sister that stayed for two nights. I truly didn’t want my vacation to end. Beautiful view from the house overlooking their property. Enjoyed seeing the cows roaming early in the morning. If I’m ever back in the area, I will most definitely stay at the Casita. Charles and Deborah were very responsive and very kind. They also have fresh eggs available about their house, and also they cooked and left some really good cake. Thank you so much again.
Place is very clean and comfortable, and the view is fantastic. Surrounding scenery is fabulous and the place has everything you would need. One small downside is the slow and erratic WIFI, though phone service was just fine. Would definitely recommend and will stay here again.

My apologies for the wi-fi, but as we have only one choice for a carrier it is a part of being extremely rural. We look forward to hosting you again.
The Casita was awesome….it is only 1 year old and perfect for a quiet getaway….Owners were awesome and very attentive….i highly recommend!! We’ll be back!!
The large dining room table with views out across the rolling landscape was a great place for playing boardgames. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, so we were able to cook-in with great ingredients from the surprisingly well-stocked natural grocer just a couple miles up the road. Accommodations were comfortable - the couch is a better choice than the trundle bed, in my opinion.
The casita is very close to town and the 3 missions. There are trains that go past but they weren’t an issue at all and I am a light sleeper The kitchen is fully stocked. The living room was very comfortable, actually the entire casita is very comfortable. The beds were comfortable as well.
We stayed two nights here on our way to Colorado. The perfect stop to just relax! My two boys enjoyed the cows, horses, and donkey that roamed the property. Would definitely come again. Casita is super clean and nice.
This Casita is a peace of heaven!
Our stay was very relaxing and enjoyable.
The casita is perfect, the land is secluded and has amazing sunsets and sunrises.
The horses and cows were like visual therapy, and even the train passing by was a true western experience.
Absolutely love this casita.

The Munguia family was a delight to host. I am always so pleased when our guests enjoy their stay. We do EVERYTHING possible to make ther vactioan experience relaxing. be Blessed and please come again!
A wonderful place to get away from it all. Deborah and Charles were very responsive to all our needs. The only difficulty was consistent internet. The vistas are beautiful and furnishings are clean and comfortable. Well appointed kitchen. Wonderful to have such a place so close to Albuquerque that feels very far away from the hustle and bustle.

About the host
Hosted by Dr. Deborah Mitchell Gerold
I am a retired school principal, now teaching part-time at a Christian school in nearby Belen. I am super picky about our casita, as we built it to house a future caretaker for ourselves. Everything is top of the line, and if you need anything that is not there you can contact me and borrow whatever you need.
Why they chose this property
If you want a peaceful place to stay near historical ruins with great hiking and animals on the premises, this is the place for you.
What makes this property unique
The views of the Manzano Mountains are absolutely spectacular! We have the railroad about 3/4 mile behind our house, so you'll hear the train running through, but without a whistle as there is no railroad crossing near us.
