Absolutely wonderful stay. Beautiful cabin, spectacular views and exceptionally well furnished. Kids enjoyed all the games and toys downstairs and the adults loved rhe covered patio with fireplace and tv. Not a single thing that we needed that wasn’t at the house. We’ve been to Blue Ridge several times and this is the first time we spent more time at cabin than anywhere else. Was also great that the owners had every switch, device, etc labeled to make it very easy to operate anything in the house. We will definitely be back. Have probably rented 30-40 places around the world on VRBO and this is definitely top 3.

Beautiful mountain stay

Nine of us stayed in this beautiful cabin. Ages 5 -61. We loved it. You can beat the wrap around deck an the views! The rental was clean and comfortable for all with something for everyone. Little touches like Echo devices were appreciated. Hosts were wonderful. Only negative was the last part of road up had washed out spaces that made for a bumpy ride up that the kids loved. One morning we even had 8 deer behind the deck. Peaceful and yet 15 minutes from shopping and dining.

The house was not ready when we arrived @ 4:00, but the cleaning staff allowed us to come in and put our cold groceries away & unpack our belongings in the master bedroom that was cleaned. They apologized several times and the owner messaged us and apologized. We were completely fine with the delay as we arrived first to the property. The house is absolutely beautiful and the owners have thought of every detail. We enjoyed our Thanksgiving there and will definitely return to explore more of the area. We appreciate the owners prompt response to questions.

Perfect Blue Ridge Cabin

Stunning Stay at Barkada Cabin

We have been to Blue Ridge a dozen times over the past 20 years. Barkada Cabin is far and away the nicest cabin we have stayed in. Calling it a cabin is truly an understatement. The finishings are second to none: from the exquisite bathrooms, to the full kitchen, to the wrap around deck complete with outdoor fireplace, ambiance lighting, oversized picnic table and a hot tub overseeing the Appalachians with a stunning view any time of day. Barkada Cabin is homey, roomy, and full of rustic charm; a perfect spot for a couple families to reunite and get off the grid. This mountain home also pays attention to detail, providing so many things the renter may forget: paper towels, laundry detergent, various soaps, Q-tips, dishwasher pods, etc., and every light switch is labeled- all very nice, thoughtful touches. There is plenty for the kids to do, as well. The basement is a true game room, and there are several huge televisions around the house for watching TV or to choose a movie from the vast assortment of streaming apps available. Finally, the firepit provides family fun outdoors- a highlight of our stay was roasting marshmallows one cool evening. Firewood on site was another convenience. Barkada Cabin really checks every box to ensure a return trip. Five Star vacation for us.

We’ve stayed in several cabins the last few years for family vacations. Our stays have been in Seiverville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Blue Ridge. By far, hands down, best cabin and hosts ever!! Beautifully appointed cabin and it doesn’t feel like a rental. The hosts thought of everything you might need away from your home. The cabin speaks volumes itself, but the host treat you like family. This cabin and host are by far the best we've EVER experienced. The property is outstanding - not a single detail is overlooked. The hosts… communicative, friendly, responsive! The drive up… well-maintained, asphalt and gravel roads. No scary twists and turns. Just an easy country drive not far from the main roads Location… if you love nature, mountainous views, fresh clean air .. Barkada is for you! Gorgeous breathtaking views and crisp fresh air are plentiful The home… not a single detail left out. Everything we could ever think to need is provided. Order some groceries to be delivered and there’s no reason to leave this private oasis. Our visit was short and sweet. We had such a great stay and will certainly be back! AMAZING!! 10 stars!

My husband and I rent a lot of homes and many times the places are not as advertised. Pictures are outdated or there is no attention to detail. We are incredibly particular with where we stay and picky about the small things. That being said …. RENT THIS HOUSE! It is worth every penny. It is simply gorgeous. I think I read in another review that the pictures don’t do it justice and I agree. The rooms are spacious. The beds are comfortable. The pac-man game was a blast. The TV was easy to work (which seems small but is actually a challenge in a lot of places). There is another large living space with a huge sofa and TV in downstairs, which would be great if you’re traveling with kids. Though we didn’t actually cook this time, the kitchen has everything you need and then some, even the basics like oil, salt and pepper that so many are missing. The hot tub was hot and in perfect working order and the house is oh so private for that night time relaxation. The view is divine! And the attn to detail matches that I’ve only ever found at high end hotels. The hosts even thoughtfully left us a lovely note, bottle of wine, chocolate and coffee beans for our arrival and they were in constant communication with us, at the ready to help with anything we needed. ☺️ We couldn’t have asked for a better few days away from the stress of daily life and can’t wait to return when it’s warm enough to boat. My only caution is the last mile or so leading up to the house is wooded, gravel and narrow. Take your time, especially in the dark. There are some blind spots as you crest a couple of hills on the road. But don’t let this deter you from staying at this special place! Just be aware is all.

Relaxing, Restful, Restorative!

Recently, my wife and I spent a couple of days (wish it could have been more) at the delightful, new Barkada cabin in Blue Ridge, Georgia. What a very special time, special place! Tom and Juvi (our hosts) have created a magnificent house in the mountains that, in so many ways, makes a vacation stay become that extra special place one can only hope for. So well designed and constructed with fine materials and furnishings, Barkada stands out from other mountain rental alternatives. The kitchen is so well equipped, and although we didn't do much cooking during our short stay, you could see how it would serve any occasion. My wife enjoyed the fact that the road access up to the property was not a cliff hanger, as she puts it, and the access into the house is very easy from the parking area. Full of a lot of extra touches, comfort and technological wise, this is a special place. Did I mention the view? Wow! A lovely stretch of the North Georgia mountains lays out before you, visible at all 3 levels of the house. I spent one afternoon sitting and watching the different hues of color and shadows and light sweeping across our mountain vista. As it sleeps 10, without asking anybody to endure a night on a fold out couch - ha, this vacation destination is one that's going to provide the best 'relaxing, restful, restorative' experience for many years to come. A Dream Cabin

Tom and Juvi’s cabin is like a dream. We wanted a place to relax and spend time with our four college aged kids, and this cabin offered us so many creative spaces to make memories. The hot tub overlooked the mountains- where we watched unbelievable sunsets. The kitchen was amazing. It was spacious, well equipped and we spent time cooking- we had no desire to leave to eat out. The beds were beyond comfortable and the showers were Amazing! There were walking trails and lakes to fish close by to the cabin. Every corner has thoughtful attention to detail- from the throw blankets by the fire places, numerous board games and an arcade. The house was super clean and private and our hosts were super responsive and friendly. You and your family will be so happy and pleased at the Barkada Cabin.

Perfect in every way!

Barkada Cabin is simply ... stunning! From the moment you walk into the soaring great room with the giant windows looking out at the Blue Ridge mountains you know you're in someplace special. This cabin has everything you could ever want in a mountain vacation rental -- and I mean everything. All weekend we kept saying, "And they even thought of (fill in the blank)." And it's just 10 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge, so the location is also perfect. Hi, we are Tom & Juvi the builders/owners of Bärkada Cabin in Blue Ridge, GA. We had a vision to provide guests with a vacation home that WE would want to rent. A place where friends and families could meet and reconnect while unplugging from their busy life. The name, Bärkada has special meaning to us as the word is of Filipino origin meaning "A meeting of friends" The first part of the name, "Bär" is German for Bear as such, Bärkada Cabin represents both or our heritages. We have been in the real estate industry since 1993, selling homes as a Realtor, managing rental properties and doing remodeling, flips and building. With 3 decades of design/build experience we set out to create a cabin combining the best attributes of other mountain cabins in a format where you would enjoy the same amenities and comfort of your own home with EXTRAS to make your stay more comfortable and memorable.

Barkada Cabin represents our first build from scratch. Starting with a wooded mountain lot we took it from architecture and design to certificate of occupancy as the general contractor and builder. We participated in much of the physical construction as well as all the furnishing and decorating. This was a huge project for us but a labor of love that resulted in a second home that they enjoy with their two children and hopefully future generations.

Why they chose this property

We set out to create a cabin combining the best attributes of other mountain cabins in a format where you would enjoy the same amenities and comfort of your own home with EXTRAS to make your stay more comfortable and memorable. This view demanded something special be built at this location, so we leveraged our 3 decades of design/build experience to create a plan that was as view centric as possible with both inside and outdoor living areas.

We wanted something secluded, but not isolated. While we have some neighbors, they're few and far between and you won't notice them unless you're looking for them and then only in the winter. As a second home for us we wanted to make sure that we duplicated everything you would have in any modern residential home. This includes a large kitchen area with everything you need to cook entire meals. We found that we love to stay at the cabin most of the time and do as many meals in the house as we can.


There's plenty to do without even leaving the cabin and if you like to cook, you'll find the kitchen is well stocked and can handle just about any meal. If you like to cook out, the Weber gas grill will spoil you!

As a building science (yes, that's a thing) enthusiast, this 2022 build included some cutting-edge elements like spray foam insulation, Zip board, DC inverter heat pump heating, hybrid heat pump water heating, instant hot water at every faucet and a fully insulated concrete slab. You will find Barkada Cabin safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly.

What makes this property unique

The design of our property is actually a combination of floor plans. We chose elements from different cabins that we personally liked and created our own floor plan and design with all those features integrated into one building. In addition the construction technique makes our property unique among other properties in that we used many green building and high efficiency processes and materials. While being an all-electric house because of its thermal efficiency as well as the type of heating and cooling used, even running a very inefficient hot tub our electric bill is minimal.

We love are community, the roads and our access to Blue Ridge. Our subdivision is a mix of full time owner occupants and some short term rentals. This gives it a very quiet and private ambiance. Our particular cabin is located where no one would just happen to drive by it, you have to be intentional getting to our cabin thus now we have very little traffic.

Something you won’t know unless you rented in the mountains before is that many (most) of the mountain homes, especially the ones with a view, have narrow and steep roads. They have no room for two-way traffic and take a long time to get to the cabin even though the distance is short. Having toured many comparable cabins in the area, I would not trade even their paved roads with our gently sloped and relatively wide hard packed road. Our community is right off a main road so it's not a burden to run into town or go exploring.
