About this property

Mellow For Shore-Built in 2023-3.5 Miles off pavement 4WD required-AIR DOWN!!

Nestled with the wild horses this newly constructed cottage is perfect for newlyweds, empty nesters, romantics or small families. Located in Swan Beach, a quiet family friendly neighborhood directly across the street from the federal wild life preserve and the closest community to the black top, gives quick access to shopping, restaurants and entertainment. We are nearby and able to respond quickly to your questions.

If you need a little extra room please check out our other VRBO listing # 2987227, "Lil' Nauti". These two home share a yard and would be great for a family gathering.

Linens and towels will be offered for 7 + night stays ONLY, for $100.00. Linen and towel rental will include sheets for all beds, 4 bath towels, 4 hand towels, 4 wash clothes. Linens MUST be requested at the time of booking or we will assume you will be bringing your own.

House is accessible by 4WD vehicles only, please air down. Vehicles MUST have a county-issued Beach Parking Permit properly displayed to park on the beach from the last Saturday of April through the first Saturday in October. Beach parking permit available for a $100.00 refundable deposit when pass is returned.

You are visiting an environmentally sensitive land. No garbage disposals allowed. Please do not allow grease, oils or solids in the drain. You will be charged appropriately for damages. Likewise, our wells are shallow and water can be sparse at times. Please help conserve. No car washing allowed.

Dogs only. Fee $100.00. Please contact us about your dog at booking. Case by case and pre-approval is required. Dogs not to be left unattended unless crated. One dog less than 70 lbs or two with a combined weight of 70 lbs. If bringing dogs please ensure they do not get on bedding or furniture. You will be responsible for any damages caused by your dog.

***Our cancellation policy is strictly enforced between Memorial Day and Labor Day. We are willing to give options but no refund will be issued*** Trip insurance is recommended, especially during hurricane season.***

**You are choosing to rent a house in a wooded setting. Remember, there are bugs of all kinds and then some. We will not entertain complaints of mosquitos, spiders, snakes....etc. We have midges They are harmless. They are attracted to light and can pass through screens.To keep them out of the house, keep outside lights off when not in use. If they get in the house please do not swat at them and leave black streaks on the ceiling. Just leave them alone. In most cases they will be dead by morning. We do treat the house on a regular basis. If you see a dead bug that means our pest control is working. **

Loved the location!! Far enough off of the beach but close to the blacktop. The layout of the house is perfect. Very cozy; feels like home away from home. This was an absolutely phenomenal house/location!! The house is immaculate, beautifully decorated, and has everything you need (washer/dryer, clothesline for drying beach wear, hose for rinsing off beach accessories, and an outdoor shower - Kim & Jim thought of everything)! We had a wonderful time and we are still blown away at the beauty of the horses and Corolla!!! This is an absolute must and amazing experience. Kim & Jim were wonderful when we text to ask for suggestions for seafood markets and restaurants. They are highly responsive, very kind/friendly, and awesome hosts!!! THANK YOU again!

Very nice new property which is simple and modern. Directions to property were right on and road to this part of the 4x4 beach is easy to drive on. Short walk to the beach. Weather was great for our Oct stay. Dog friendly which was nice as well.

Perfect place for a family of four

This was a great rental experience. The home is nicely laid out, well-stocked, and well-maintained. It was the perfect amount of space for our family of four. It is a slightly longer walk to the beach than some of the other houses (10 minutes through thick, hot sand), but we just drove down every day, and drove back for lunch. It was really easy. The nearby beach is beautiful and had the perfect amount of crowds -- not very many people, but also not total solitude, which was nice since we had small kids with us. The hosts for this property are great -- really friendly, helpful, and communicative. I would definitely recommend this place, and would definitely come again.

Can’t say enough nice things about this property and the hosts! Communication was kind and clear, property was immaculate when we arrived! Loved the decor. Fully stocked kitchen. Truly everything you would need. Kim and Jim were kind and accommodating. 10/10 would stay here again. Like the title says, air down! The Corolla website suggests a certain psi but ask the locals, or people who have recently driven on the beach! Even if your driver says “they’ve got this” 😉.

Wildlife Getaway

The property was modern and clean. Great location for viewing birds, horses & dolphins. It was wonderful for submerging yourself in the wildlife sounds of Outerbanks. We heard coyotes and plenty of nocturnal birds at night. Ensure you have a high clearance AWD or 4WD vehicle to get there. The only odd things were no hand soap for the bathroom or kitchen and the additional charge for linens. Otherwise, it was a 5/5 experience! Thanks for sharing

Absolute gem on the 4x4 beach!

This home is truly magical! Location, cleanliness, cheeriness, how it's decorated are all top notch. We loved everything about it. It is perfect for a small family. Close enough to the beach that you can hear the waves, but far enough that it felt private and tucked away. The walk to the beach was not bad at all. But it was also a quick and very fun drive there…and everyone does the same thing, which was fun and very unique! Kim is outstanding. Extremely responsive and very caring. She knew how important seeing wild horses was to my child, and she contacted me one night during our stay to tell me that there were horses at the house next door. If she hadn’t gone above and beyond like that, we would have missed them. And seeing horses walk under the house was an absolute highlight for my child. The location is perfect too! Close enough to the paved roads that it’s a pretty quick run in to town, but you still get the beach driving experience. You will not be disappointed if you stay here!
