This place was perfect in so many ways - rustic and comfortable, totally quiet except for the many birds, incredible books, excellent beds, giant kitchen, beauty from every window. Our family had an excellent time exploring the land and the nearby town, lighthouse and beaches. Jen and Ben were prompt and generous in their responses to our needs, both remotely and in person, and went the extra mile to provide us with information about the area. One of the most relaxing places I've stayed, the quiet is profound. We will definitely be back!
We were debating staying in Sea Ranch or Mendocino when we found this house and it was perfect. Walk to Point Arena for anything you need (including a spectacular Japanese dinner at Gama) Hosts were lovely, kitchen was great for preparing meals, spectacular views from all directions. We traveled with two young kids who loved running around in the fields, seeing rabbits and quail, collecting grasses, swinging in hammocks. If it was warmer we might have tried for a canoe ride in the pond, maybe next time...
We live in the city, so this beautiful property was just what the dr ordered for a getaway! The property is stunning, the house is beautifully built and furnished with unique pieces. It met our expectations perfectly.
Note: this is a wood cabin so expect some dirt, bugs and spiderwebs. It’s part of the package.
We found sanctuary. The home was more beautiful than the pictures could show. It’s rustic and cozy and elegant all at the same time. We were a large group with 10 adults and three small kids and we used very single corner of the space. We cooked all of our meals there, and the kitchen had everything we needed! The beds were comfy and the showers and baths were wonderful. Our 24 year old twin daughters even ventured outside for evening showers on the back deck to commune with nature. We explored the grounds quite a lot, took the canoe out on the pond, enjoyed the hammocks and watched the critters and birds and trees. The property owners are clearly stewards of the earth, and of literature (there are hundreds of amazing books inside) and art. We left feeling enriched and embraced by This Will Take Time.
This was our first experience with renting a house for the weekend. It was made very easy with these owners. The property was great. Everyone enjoyed exploring around. The house was the effect size. The only thing that would be better is if there were printed instructions for the karaoke system. We couldn’t figure it out even with YouTube help. Overall 10/10. This may become a yearly trip.
My family and I really enjoyed staying at the farmhouse! I had good communication with the host while I was booking the reservation. He answered my questions and was very friendly and available. The property is very relaxing, with many different features to promote relaxation: the outdoor tub, the hammocks, the canoe/pond, the piano, the firepit, the rock room, walks in the fields - we loved it all. The view from the kitchen is even nicer than in the photos.
We spent time in Point Arena, went to the movie theater, restaurants, and the library. We tried to check out a cool secondhand clothing store, but it appears to only be open once a month. Of course we went to the lighthouse and Stornetta Lands - both highlights of the trip.
I highly recommend this place for a relaxing getaway.
