About this property
Beautiful Townhome in Uzès Center
“The Maison”
This historic townhouse, totaling a 120 square-meters, dates back to the 16th Century and is constructed from local “Gard stone”. Situated in the center of France’s last remaining Dukedom (Duchy), it features two terraces, two double bedrooms, a twin bedroom, two bathrooms, large dining and living room and roof-top reading/TV room, convertible to a fourth bedroom.
From the moment you enter the house, its character comes alive. On the first floor is the main entertaining space with lounge and dining room. Look closely and you will see the stonemasons’ efforts etched into the exposed stonework. Through two arches is the modern kitchen equipped with dishwasher, oven, gas and induction cooktop, microwave, toaster, food processor, Nespresso coffee machine, pots and pans, serving pieces, glassware and utensils. From here, you can access the outdoor private patio with BBQ, relaxing chairs and dining table for 6 people.
Ascending the original stone staircase, leads to a bedroom with two single beds with wardrobe, large windows and a view of Du Roi Tower. The large master bedroom features an ensuite with dressing room, shower and relaxing spa-bath.
On the third floor is the well-lit second double bedroom with side table, clothes cupboard and gorgeous southerly views to the famous Saint Théodorit Cathedral. Next door is a separate toilet and bathroom with shower.
Across the landing is a large sitting room with TV and sofa that can be converted into a double bed. From here you can also access the roof-top terrace with loungers, and views across Uzès and the Duke’s castle. Perfect for sunset drinks.
All bedrooms are air conditioned for your comfort.
The property is perfectly situated at the heart of Uzès, 30m from the restaurant/hotel/spa La Maison D’Uzès and 2 minutes from historic Place aux Herbes, where the local market runs on Wednesdays and Saturdays all-year-round. There is a local grocer just 50m from the house. Also several nature walks start nearby.
The house is ideal for 3 couples/singles or family with children.
Underground car park nearby - 2 minutes walk.
High chair and cot available upon request.
NOTE: The original spiral staircase adds to the charm of this 16th Century house but may not be suitable for those who have mobility constraints.
“Historic Uzès”
The Duchy of Uzès sits at the confluence of many great regions in the South of France, allowing for a perfect get-away, whatever the season. After exploring the many cobblestone streets and galleries of this village you can travel further afield.
Less than an hour away is the historic city of Avignon flanking the mighty Rhône River. So enamored of its beauty, Pope Clement V moved the seat of the Catholic Church there in 1348. In nearby Nîmes, there is the grand Roman arena build in 70 ACE.
For wine lovers, there is the revered villages of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas to the north, and to the south-west, the vineyards of the Cévennes.
The region of Les Baux de Provence is also an enjoyable day-out with many walks and the famous Carrières de Lumières, where famous artworks are projected within the ancient cave system.
Let’s not forget the iconic Pont du Gard. This magnificent structure, built in the 1st Century, is less than 20 minutes away from the house. Ask us for directions to a great hike there.
Your time in Uzès will leave you with many great memories; “Maison des Rêves” awaits you.

Why they chose this property
Uzès is undeniably one of the most charming towns in the south of France. It is surrounded by history, enchanting neighboring villages, vineyards, wonderful shops and restaurants, quiet trails and hiking paths, and endless sunny days.
