The property manager is so easy to communicate with. The location of this property is so great - can’t beat the view! We also loved all the space and all the toys for the children to explore!
Great space for family gathering with children! The beach was amazing and so was the AC!
The oven takes along time to preheat which was the only thing to work around. We have booked again for next year.
We had a fabulous time! The bay dried out completely at low tide which created a beautifully warm swimming area when the tide came in. The beach is very gradual, making it great to play in the water.
Fantastic exploring on the sandstone shelf both directions from the bay at low tide.
The glass living room (with air conditioning) has spectacular views over the water.
The house was dirty, furniture uncomfortable and beds are old and very uncomfortable

A very tired house...
The property was very spacious and accommodated our family gathering. I specifically mentioned to the owner that we need a working oven for all the cooking we would be doing for my husband's 70th birthday. One day before our arrival the owner tells me that the oven is not working. We had to change everything. The stovetop is so old that we had to goggle it to see how it works. The funiture needs a lot of help but the view is absolutely stunning. The beds were very comfortable and the family did enjoy themselves but I would not rent it again.
We enjoyed our stay at this property, however we found some surprises hidden under curtains, floor mat. Mold In corner of queen bedroom , broken glass on sliding door of side by side bedrooms. Rotten/sunk in floor at kitchen/deck door. Coffee maker was not cleaned. Alarm
Went off every morning at 6:30 in blue quilt room, toy was in closet and not turned off. Mold in washer. Missing light bulbs throughout the home. No instructions as to how to use the stove. Confusing light switches, did not know which switch went with which lights. Lots of spiders , ants inside home. Suggest to spray outside from professional .
Overall, we had a wonderful time swimming in the ocean, waking up to spectacular sunrise, and family time on the deck. Local bar/restaurant was fantastic! Location of home was great to go touring other locations .
Our family had alot of fun swimming, enjoying the deck and we like the rural location.

Relaxing time in beautiful location, But could use improvement.
Pros: Location was great with a walk out the back door to the beach. When the tide is in and water is warm enough it is a perfect spot for a ocean swim. The owner was communitive and very accommodating. We had two kids with us ages 3 and 5 and the house was fully stocked with lots of toys and things to keep them entertained. For the adults there are a couple pianos and an old classical guitar which I enjoyed playing. Also the BBQ is a full sized Napoleon which I was happy to see.
Cons: This is not strictly a "rental home" as the owner lives on the property for part of the year. While this comes with some benefits in that the kitchen is fully stocked with every possible kitchen gadget, it also has it downsides. There are trinkets everywhere and just general disorganization of stuff.
The master ensuite must have a water issue as the bedroom smelled musty.
The patio was awesome, but for a house that can be booked for up to 12 people there was a scarcity of outdoor seating. Only 2 truly comfortable chairs were available. I highly recommend the owner invest in some Adirondack chairs.
Lastly I would comment on the garbage, compost and recycling situation. Renters are expected to take all this with them when they leave. For a family with a car or van I can see this being a very unfortunate having to smell this during your trip home. We were lucky to have a truck with us that could do this without to much discomfort. When these rental homes charge you an exorbitant fee for cleaning, you expect that the garbage removal is included. I would suggest the owner rethink this policy or pay a neighbor to deal with the garbage compost and recycling so it is picked up with the regular community pickup.
Overall, we had a relaxing time and very much enjoyed the area. I would not however rebook in the future. I feel that the price paid was too high for what we received. We have visited other homes on the island that are better value for dollar spent.
Very spacious house with amazing views of the bay. The glass ceilings let in some amazing light throughout the day but especially in the summer evenings. Communication was easy as was check in/out. Would definitely stay here again.
We had a perfect stay at Sherilene’s home.
The kitchen was well equipped.
Lots of toys and board games to play.
Perfect location for beachcombing and exploring tida pools.
Super relaxing sun room.
Sherilene was always available to answer questions and super helpful. Check in and check out process we’re very straightforward.
I would definitely recommend this home to others looking to explore the area.
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property. That being said there were a few minor things that we noticed that we wished were addressed when we stayed. For the price we paid, I think we could have gotten better bedding. I stayed in a room where the comforter was very old that all the fluff would go to one side of the comforter, so I would wake up so cold because all the cotton would have slid to one side of the comforter. Second, there was a weird smell from cupboard with cups. Third, the coffee maker was so dirty, we cleaned it really well before we left- things like this we do expect to be clean as it was advertised on the posting. Lastly, at the end of our stay, we were asked to put all our towels in the laundry room and wash and dry them- for us to pay for cleaning fees, I didn't think this was a necessary step for me and my friends. Other than those items, our stay was really nice, the property's location is amazing and we really enjoyed our time.
A beautiful home in a magical location. The beach is perfect for children to explore. The bay is sheltered and we were able to teach our granddaughters how to kayak. The owners of the house are musical and the house seems steeped in the joy that music can bring.
This was a great place for a family gathering. We enjoyed its location right on the beach and the young kids loved playing in the water and with the multitude of toys available. Going in we had read all the reviews about the stove and induction cooktop being issues, but we just allowed enough time for the stove to heat and it wasn’t an issue. One thing I might suggest is having some simpler instructions provided for the cooktop, rather than the ones that come from the manufacturer. Being familiar with induction cooktops helped me decipher them but they could probably be simplified. I think the home could use a bit of decluttering, some additional cleaning and personal items minimized, but that’s probably more personal preference than anything. Overall, the home has a comfortable beach feel and we enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful location. We loved walking on the beach , when the tide was out and paddling our canoe as the tide came in.
The little ones enjoyed the play corners and my husband enjoyed playing on the piano.
We had to overcome a few initial problems ;get to know the stove top ( never seen one like that) figure it out because it refused to work with the pot we brought from home.. we had to figure out how to keep the dishwasher door close ( so it will work).
All in all we loved the large space and the great layout.
We would consider communing again. .
The property is gorgeous and the view is amazing. It was very peaceful and we had a great time. The house itself could use some updating and new linens/bedding but it was very spacious, well stocked and had beautiful views from the kitchen, living room and 2 main bedrooms. Sherilene was excellent with getting back to us about anything we needed and is a kind and generous host. Overall, we had a really hood time and we would return again!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sherilene’s house. She took extra COVID precautions which were greatly appreciated. The house is not the most modern but is perfectly designed for a big family group and the location is fabulous. We especially loved morning walks as the tide went out and evening swims when it came back in.
Great bay view house for a getaway vacation with friends
It was our first time in Nanoose bay. The lovely house is a wonderful place to spend a getaway vacation with friends. It is a bit disappointing that we could not pick oysters in the bay, but we did find places to do crabbing, clamming, and etc. On top of that, we have kids who have been playing piano for years, and they really enjoyed the studio.
The house is actually bigger than it looks in photos. The kids really enjoyed hanging out in the sun room and at the fire pit in the backyard, on the beach. My wife and I get to stay in the master bedroom and we really enjoy our sleeps with the sound of water from the beach. The patio is a great hangout spot, my only suggestion is if there were a few strings of hanging lights for better lighting. Overall, we are blown away with what the house had to offer and would love to come back again at a heart beat. Thank you for the lovely experience!
Year 3 renting this lovely property on a quiet bay. Our extended family has lots of room to comfortably enjoy a relaxing holiday. Large kitchen, two fridges, fabulous enclosed deck. Views are amazing. We will be back again next year for more memories.
Perfect waterfront beach house property for families
Our interaction with property management was always prompt and positive. We really enjoyed the location and were so happy with the beach being steps away from the house. Our kids could play freely in the shallow and warm ocean waters. The house is stocked with everything you need. An abundance of rooms, so many toys for the kids, and musical instruments. We loved the glass living room and the adjacent patio to relax and watch the spectacular ocean view. We instantly felt at home in this wonderful beach house. Thank you!
Beach house was exactly as described. Lovely setting right on the beach. Beautiful floor to ceiling glass great room, perfect for our big family. Beach was a bit rocky but was perfect for kayaking in the evenings (kayak was there) . Super close to Parksville beach and restaurants but still quiet and secluded feeling. The deck is enclosed in glass and looks directly to the beach. Would stay again. Thanks

About the host
Hosted by Dr. Sherilene M. Chycoski
My late husband Arnie and I bought our beautiful home twenty-one years ago and we love sharing our wonderful property with others including our friends, children, students, and grandchildren as well as folks on vacation or potential owners in the Nanoose area. This is our second home that we bought in Nanoose and we have been renting our properties since 1991 when we bought our first home on Dolphin Bay, Nanoose.
Why they chose this property
The location of the beach house is situated on a private beach with neighbors who have owned their properties for generations. The beach is a combination of executive beachfront homes and cabins. We bought the home as it is one level with only a few steps up for easy access for seniors as well as for our guests.
What makes this property unique
The most unique feature is sitting in the glass studio and having the eagles fly over while you are sitting on the sofa bed and enjoying the cruise ships passing by at night over the cruise boat season. Lastly, the property has extensive gardens that need a lot of time and attention. Thanks goodness for our wonderful cleaning lady and team of gardeners.
