About this property
¡Amazing view! Rustic charm. 3bdr
Restored finca set in olive groves at the foot of the Sierra de Tejeda Mountains. Sleeps 6. Dramatic views, rustic Spanish charm & great access to all of the Axarquia region: Beaches, Malaga, Granada, hiking & even skiing! WiFi. Wheelchair friendly.
The space
Previously two separate houses built in the first decades of the 20th century, Casa la Curra sits above a terraced garden and olive groves at the foot of the Sierras de Tejeda mountains. It is defined by a fantastic terrace which runs the length of the house, providing expansive views of the valley and the mountains. One of the original houses had a large wood fired oven and baked bread for the area. Legend has it supplied Republican forces hiding in the mountains during the civil war. Or was it Nationalist forces? Depends on who you speak to but legend has it anyway…
Curra is a diminutive of the name Francesca.
Casa la Curra is an authentic finca and its charms are rustic*. It has two main bedrooms with double beds and a smaller bedroom with bunk beds (large enough for adults). The kitchen contains all the modern conveniences except a microwave and features a small breakfast counter. It opens on to the covered terrace and the outdoor dining area.
Casa la Curra is just minutes from fantastic hiking that suits all skill levels. We are just 20 minutes from the beach. 45 minutes from Malaga (Picasso’s birth place. Oh and Antonio Banderas). Granada is an easy day trip. Cordoba & Seville an easy overnight. From its perch on a small rise above the olive groves, the finca is perfectly located to provide rural solitude but with easy access to the modernity and consumerism of the costa del sol.
This is our home away from home and our family spends as much time here as we can. For us, Casa la Curra is a great antidote to life in northern Europe.
*"rustic charm" being code for "not the Four Seasons" ;-)
Guest access
Beaches, great hiking, Malaga, Granda, Nerja, calm, serenity.
