About this property
2 min from the beach - 3BR Jungle modern home with ocean view
This unique and stylish tree house inspired home has a 180 degree ocean and jungle view that goes from Cabo Blanco Natural Reserve to the Santa Teresa beaches and mountains of Playa Coyote. A great location to enjoy all that Costa Rica has to offer and within walking distance of beaches, restaurants and mini market.
The spacious top floor has an open floor plan with sliding glass doors and rolling blinds that can be opened to enjoy the gorgeous view and ocean breeze. Lots of space to do your morning yoga (mats provided!) and plenty of seating to relax and watch the ocean and nature. It is truly magical here.
This is a great house for two or three couples, a big family or a few singles (up to 6 guests). Reach out if you have any questions. We are happy to share all of our insider tips and help you to have a memorable trip! Follow us on IG @lacasacorteza and remember to tag us!
A Few Quick Facts & Highlights:
*Two en-suite bedrooms with ocean view and a third bedroom with jungle view and partial ocean view.
*The two en-suite bedrooms have air conditioning and desks. All three bedrooms have outdoor seating space, ceiling fans and mosquito nets.
*Full kitchen with salt, pepper, spices and cooking oils (coconut and olive oil), cast iron and ceramic pans
*Filtered drinking water in the kitchen
*Whirlpool washer and dryer in hallway
*Safe, low traffic area
*2 minute drive/10 minute walk to the beach
*5 minutes walk to local restaurants and 10 minute to mini market
*7 minute drive to Santa Teresa
We are built on a hillside so we recommend an ATV or 4 x 4. There are also stairs leading to the house and inside the house, so be sure guests are physically able to climb steps.
Other Details:
There is a potential for noise during your stay due to construction behind our property. If you're planning on being at the beach or exploring the area during the day, you likely won't be affected. Our pricing reflects a discount because of the noise potential.
Our house is family friendly, but it is an "adventure house." We do not recommend it for young children or those who love to climb railings. Our daughter and her friends are 6 to 7 and it's been great for them. You are welcome to bring younger kids, but we don't have anything to block the stairways so keep a keen eye on them.
It is not an uncommon occurrence in Costa Rica to periodically be without power, water and internet in this region. If you're out and about you may not even notice, but we have a large backup water tank (3 days worth) for times like these and will help assist you with getting fresh drinking water in the unlikely chance the tank runs out. Also, water pressure in Costa Rica is lower compared to what most experience in North America.
Lastly, living in the outskirts of the Amazonian jungle means small creatures, bats, crabs, scorpions, beetles, lizards, ants, moths, and even house cats, may come by for a visit. Especially at night. Our home has a few small, open spaces to keep the house cool and prevent mold. To minimize unwanted visitors, we close up all doors and windows at sunset and keep lights dim until bedtime. Each bed is equipped with mosquito nets. That being said it is all a part of the Costa Rica charm and adventure and we love it. Life is unexpected here, so enjoy the ride and the beauty.
We will do everything we can to make your stay as wonderful and comfortable as possible, but we cannot offer refunds for bugs, outages, bad weather or construction noise. Sorry!

About the host
Hosted by Judita Wignall
We are a family of 3 from Long Beach, California. We fell in love with Costa Rica 20 years ago and finally built our dream home in our favorite coastal village. We are creatives and work in the music, art and wellness space.
Why they chose this property
We love the rustic simplicity of Mal Pais. Our home is walking distance to several restaurants, beach access points as well as a mini market. Mal Pais is also a nice quiet town away from the noise and crowds of Santa Teresa. It's also a great midway point between Montezuma, Playa Hermosa and Manzanillo. Local activities include: surfing, stand up paddle boarding, yoga, zip line, sport fishing, horseback riding and snorkeling.
What makes this property unique
We designed the house to open up so you feel like you're sitting in the trees with the birds and monkeys. The ocean breeze comes through every day in the late morning to mid afternoon. The view of the coast is stunning as are the sunsets that are nothing short of nature's amazing light show.
