About this property

Historic farmhouse on an acreage in Marion

This historic 1910 farmhouse is very well maintained with original beautiful hardwood floors, woodwork, built-ins and windows, situated on 4.5 acres less than 1.5 miles from downtown Marion and on the edge of Cedar Rapids. In town for a sporting event? The property is 10 minutes from Tuma Soccer Complex and Prospects Meadows. There are lots of trees and the privacy will make you forget you are still in the city. The Boyson Trail is accessible through the neighborhood across Boyson Rd.

The parlor with its antique décor will make you feel like you have been transported back to the early 20th century. When you are ready to return to the 21st century the den is decked out with comfy couches, a big screen TV and a real wood burning fireplace, high speed wireless Internet is available throughout the house.

Four spacious bedrooms one queen, two kings, and a room setup for the kids with a bunk bed (twin over full with a trundle twin). All bedrooms are on the second floor.

Full kitchen with everything you need to make a home cooked meal. Dishwasher, electric stove top, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, and coffee maker.
You have full access to the house. The third floor attic is open but unfurnished.

You are free to explore the 4.5 acre property during your stay. The drive is ‘L’ shaped with two entrances and plenty of parking. There is a large fenced in area, concrete pad with fire pit, original 1910 barn and renovated stable. The stable is a wide open 1000 sq ft space with a wood burning heater and LP heat. Contact the host if you would be interested in renting this space. The barn is currently under renovations and off limits to guests. If you would like a tour, contact the host and we will do our best to accommodate.

Family get together!
We wanted a place that could accommodate our family of 5 with their significant others. This Victorian beauty has so much charm! It gave us ample space to hang out as a family. We utilized the formal parlor to have a cup of coffee and visit. We enjoyed the informal family room to watch tv. Beds were super comfy in all the rooms. Check in and check out was so easy! We hope to stay here again!

Magic in Marion
If you're in search of a destination that seamlessly blends beauty, tranquility, and history, Fairview Farm is your answer. The charm of old-world architecture is beautifully preserved in this 1910 estate, a testament to the meticulous care taken by its owners. The unique nooks and crannies scattered around the house invited me to disconnect from the digital world, offering a sense of serene elegance. The grand staircase, the towel warmer, and other thoughtful amenities add to the overall charm, making you feel like royalty. The property itself is a photographer's dream, offering stunning views of the sunrise and sunset. This house is nothing short of enchanting. Communication with the owners was effortless, and the house was well-equipped for a memorable family dinner. The ample space provided plenty of room for children to play and explore, while the adults talked after dinner. I will most definitely be returning to Fairview Farm for future visits. I can't wait to see what remodel the owners will unveil next.

Beautiful Property, Close to Downtown Marion
My sisters, mom, and I picked this two-story home for our annual weekend getaway. It had plenty of room for all six of us to play games at the dining table and catch up in the comfortable fireplace room. The eat-in kitchen was big enough for several of us to cook without missing the conversation at the kitchen table. When we didn’t feel like cooking, it was just a five-minute drive to downtown Marion. Too bad it was so cold, or we would have sat outside on the huge porch or taken advantage of the huge fire pit. We would definitely book this property again.

Great Place
We had our annual family gathering at this property. It was a great experience for all. We made use of the "Stable" for our meals and gathering times. Very nice. We had 27 for our Thanksgiving meal and there was plenty of room. The house is very well furnished. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen met our needs. I highly recommend this property for your next stay.

Clean and unique
Clean with comfortable beds. Hosts seemed accessible and easygoing. Loved the deer on the property, the quiet, the ambience, and the accessibility to everything we needed. My only complaint was that the house was only at 57 degrees when we arrived and, as old houses do, needed several hours to warm up.
