The space
See more on our socials @connecticut_chalet and look for the link to book direct with us in our bio there! This is a unique and stylish single family home on 5 beautiful acres that you will have to yourself and can feel like home as you explore charming Connecticut. The property has been lovingly cared for since it was hand-built by our grandparents in the 60's, inspired by an impressive Home & Gardens feature. When they moved South, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to keep this gem in the family and put our own modern twist on it. We are experienced Superhosts with a passion for creating memorable experiences for our guests and we hope that shows through the details of the home.
There is a feeling of serenity and timelessness as soon as you walk through the front door. As you head up the stairs you will be welcomed into the open-concept living room flooded with an abundance of natural light and stunning views of the property from the floor to ceiling windows in the sunroom. We created this space for optimal gathering, dining and relaxation. The hanging chair in the sunroom is perfect for soaking in morning sun with a book and cup of coffee. With the woodstove burning, take in unobstructed views of the pond and forest below and you will feel like you are living the quintessential New England lifestyle.
There is a fully stocked kitchen if you plan to prepare meals to enjoy at the spacious dining table. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms in the home. The master bedroom, complete with a king bed and reading chair, is on the upper level and was designed with style and comfort in mind. Plenty of room to unpack with ample closet space and drawers. A full bath is conveniently right outside this room. Head down to the lower level to find the remaining two beds and another full bath. There is also an additional living room on the lower level making it easy to spread out and relax during your stay. There is no shortage of natural light as the lower level is walk-out. Choose from an abundance of games that were treasured by our family for generations or catch a movie on the large flat screen TV.
We encourage guests to enjoy the expansive outdoor space during your stay. While the pond is not available for swimming or skating, it sure is pretty to look at! You can often see wildlife on the property during quiet mornings and as dusk falls. Every season brings a unique beauty to the property and can be enjoyed year round. Please give the animals space and refrain from feeding them if you are lucky enough to encounter one!
Whatever your reason for visiting Connecticut, we hope to provide an exceptional stay in our treasured family home!
Guest access
You will have access to the entire home. There is no guest access to the garage or supply room. Cars must be parked outside in the driveway. The pond is only for viewing pleasure as swimming, boating, fishing and skating are strictly prohibited. Other things to note
While we find the home to be incredibly charming, it is an older home and may have some quirks such as noticeably small bathrooms etc.
Please use extreme caution on the decks when it rains or snows as they can become slippery.
There have been bear, foxes, coyote and bobcats in the surrounding area and seen on the property. Please use caution when outside and leave animals be.

Based on the pictures and description, I had high hopes for the Chalet...and it did NOT disappoint in any way! Clean, quiet, spacious, unique, well appointed and full of character! Not to mention that Duane was highly communicative leading up to and during my stay. The property is beautiful and served me well as my own weekend mindfulness retreat. I will be back!
It was a most peaceful and relaxing home to vacation in! Great location since we had to be in several different parts of the Hartford area. Not too mention we had great food at all of the local restaurants. You cannot go wrong here!
This is the place! It was fantastic, clean, the extras left by the host and care of the whole property is amazing! My family and I spent such comfortable times together. The beds were comfortable, kitchen well equipped, everything truly remarkable. The neighborhood is quiet, and is conveniently located to shopping. The wildlife is amazing! The grounds are absolutely gorgeous!
Beautiful, secluded property and spacious home with everything you need. Short drive to stores, restaurants, groceries and cider house. Communication with the host was quick and clear. Check in / out was straightforward and simple. My brother, sisters and I found everything we needed and absolutely enjoyed our stay. We were especially impressed with all the kettles and coffee machine options as well as the comfy beds, pillows, soft sheets and cozy comforters! Thank you for everything!
If you’re looking for a relaxing, unique/fun home this is it!! The host was amazing & left no questions to ask. The home is fully stocked with all your needs from cooking utensils, wood to start a warm fire & even games for in between time. The bedrooms are cozy and the beds are super soft. The deck & sun room/dining room was a fav, the views are amazing. I would certainly recommend and even stay here again. Thank you
Our stay was so relaxing and you place was great. I wanted to pack it up and move it to Florida with me. My wife Roberta and I had time we needed. With my complete ankle replacement and not walking for 10 weeks it took a toll. See deer walking be each day was such a pleasure. Only 2 things you might look at, light in living room switch is out. The main thing is see is no wood rack in stove. When you use wood it leaves a lot of unburned and sut. I used Duraflame. They burnt clean for 4 hours, with very low sut. But get the rack to put them on to burn. I left 2 logs for you. Thanks and we'll contact you to rent again. Plus friends of ours came by and. Will see about renting. You stock it well with things to do and need. Thank you so much. It was a pleasure.Larry and Robert.
We were looking for a property to rent while in town for a family wedding. Once we saw this house, we immediately booked it for our 4-night stay.
The house had beautiful views of the changing leaves, and it was so peaceful and quiet. The kitchen was well-stocked and huge, and the laundry facilities made doing laundry so easy.
Bedrooms and closet space were perfect for the length of stay, with the beds being very comfortable.
The property was close to everywhere we wished to travel, including a local Target and various good restaurants. The hosts replied quickly to our inquiries and checked in with us to ensure that all was going well.
We highly recommend staying at this property should you find yourself in need of lodging in this area.
This was a perfect weekend for my family; and I am a tough person to please. I recommend everyone to stay at this house. Our family very much so enjoyed every aspect of this property. From playing games in the extended, glass, 4 season room in front of the wood burning stove to the comfortable bedrooms and beds to picturesque property outside. Also a great place to bird watch, which I did for the first time in my life, so bring some binoculars, its incredibly relaxing. Communication with the owners was outstanding. They get back to you quickly and have good knowledge of restaurants and things to do during your stay. We will be booking this place again the next time we are in Connecticut. Thank you.The Recklein Family
