Perfect for Large Family!

Our extended family of 16 (8 adults and 8 children ages 18 months to 14) fit perfectly in this large home! We had a wonderful week enjoying the quiet mountain location and the short drive to the lake. Some highlights were a downstairs game room where the kids learned how to play pool and spent time together as cousins playing Mario Cart (we brought our own Wii). The hot tub was very enjoyable and relaxing. The deck off the kitchen was great for coffee in the morning and BBQing dinner. It was also a good location for the kids to eat. Plenty of space for everyone! A very beautiful home -- great atmosphere! We would recommend this home to our friends.

Family get together at Lake Tahoe

This house was perfect for our 15 people. 6 adults, 4 older children, 5 younger ones and 2 dogs. The house has ample room for family gatherings and things to do. We had a boat which made the trip very nice and there is a launching ramp nearby. We also went swimming, paddle boarding and wave runners down at Kings Beach. Many good things about the location and house with ample room, hot tub, pool table and large TV's. Only downsides were the beds were pretty hard compared to what we normally sleep on but the couches and chairs provided sleeping area's for those who didn't like the hard beds. No pizza cutter? The stove plug next to the range needs to have a sign to not disconnect - this caused a problem. There are bears in the area and we had one walk right up to the front door. All in all a very enjoyable visit and the house was perfect.

Nice home for a weekend getaway with friends

Property was as advertised on VRBO. Proximity to the lake and Tahoe City was great. We cooked most of our meals at the house. BBQ and kitchen were stocked well for our needs. Beds and bathrooms worked well for a group of 9.

Adequate Space for a multiple families

Pros: The home is large and spacious for multiple families/large groups. We had plenty of room for adults to converse while the kids played. Kitchen was well equipped with dishes/utensils. Nice upgraded appliances: BBQ, Washer/Dryer/Dishwasher Cons: Huge crack in coffee pot so we were not able to use it. Description say's " extra parking area that could hold a boat". There were two RV's parked in the "extra parking" The BIGGEST CONCERN...Signs stating that we could not put ANY toilet paper down the toilet due to old pipes and that it must be put in the trash. This was NOT stated in any description of the home or any correspondence with owner. This would have been a deal breaker for us. We were only given a couple of trash bags for kitchen so we had to go out and purchase our own.

Great Tahoe house for a large group

This house was exactly as advertised- Large, functional, and near Dollar Point. The hot tub worked great. Great trail access to the Tahoe Cross Country Ski Trails and Tahoe Rim Trail. The owner, Sheila, was very responsive and helpful.

Thanksgiving in Tahoe City

We so enjoyed our stay in Tahoe City. The local area affords much to do. The house was perfect for our group of 9 staying over as well as additions of a few Thanksgiving Day orphans for dinner. Everyone enjoyed being in the kitchen to help with meal preparation and/or just relaxing and playing games and pool. The property was very clean and well maintained which allowed us time to just have fun.

Great Tahoe summer fun

The listing for the Highlands Drive property on line was very accurate in its description of location, layout, amenities, user instructions, etc. We rented two houses in the Highlands for a family reunion that included a total of 28 people. We easily accommodated 16 of those people at this house. The property was clean, well-maintained, and welcoming. The person handling the spa and the cleaning crew were very pleasant. We are seriously thinking about going back to this unit again for another reunion or smaller gathering. The unit was set up to handle all 28 people for dinner one night in the dining, deck, kitchen, and living area. The kitchen was set up to easily handle the prep work for such a meal. The pool room was the big attraction inside the house, while the easy access to mountain biking and the paved bike trail along Highway 28 was the big attraction outside. We visited Meek's Bay beach a couple times and also went to Sand Harbor, both great beaches. Because of construction, the trips were about a half hour away. The setting in the woods was great with an easy path to the other house on Cedarwood Drive. I understand from the cleaning crew that the owners are contemplating some upgrades in the near future, which should make it even more appealing. It was a great stay.

Great Weekend Getaway for a Group

Our group of 12 was up in Tahoe for a race and to get away from the city for a weekend. The layout is perfect for a group this size, with all the living spaces upstairs, and the bedrooms/gameroom downstairs. We cooked great big meals, and had several people working in the kitchen at once, and when we sat down to eat, we had the option of sitting at the formal dining room table, the eat in kitchen, or even the table in the living room when the game was on. The house was well stocked, and the owner is very quick to respond if you can't find something. The house is not located right on the beach or ski resort, but they are a close enough drive, and the house is in a nice/quiet neighborhood. We will definitely look to stay here again in the future.

Perfect for family reunions!

This home couldn't have been more perfect for our family! We had 4 generations together plus family friends for my daughter's wedding in Tahoe City, and the house held us all very comfortably. It was beautiful, very well equipped, and clean. This was my first time using VRBO and I was a bit nervous, but everything was amazing, and I will definitely stay again. Loved taking my coffee out onto the back deck overlooking the National Forest every morning, and whopping my nephew and son in pool :). The owner of this property was very responsive and terrific to work with. THANK YOU SHEILA for everything!

Surprise Birthday Party

I rented this house to surprise my wife on her 70th birthday. Family members coming in for the event included 3 adults from Texas, 3 adults from the Seattle area, our Reno family (2 adults, 2 children and 2 mature dogs) and my wife and I. This is an incredible property designed to accommodate up to 16 people easily. The upstairs living room, dining room, kitchen and deck are spacious so no one ever felt crowded. There are 5 bedrooms, den with pool table, hot tub, laundry facilities and 3 bathrooms on the lower level, giving every family member their own bed and their private space. The house backs up to the forest, with easy access to a great hiking trail. It is nestled in towering pine trees, and the stars at night are beautiful. It is an easy drive to Tahoe City, California (north shore area) from local airports, with lots of great restaurants, bicycle, kayak and paddle board rentals, and the drive around Lake Tahoe provides breathtaking scenery. Everyone wants to come back for a family reunion! Check this out! You won't be disappointed.

favorite family vacation

Our family gathered at this lovely home for Christmas vacation. We wanted to be near Sacramento to accommodate our working children. We all agreed that this home was perfect. As a group of ten adults, we had room to gather for meals and family games but never seemed to be on top of one another. The amenities like the hot tub and pool room were big hits. We also enjoyed this hiking trails just out the door and ski slopes within 30 minutes. Great fun to sit in front of the huge fireplace and watch the snow falling on Christmas Eve!!!

Tahoe Cabin

We came up with a group of 16 adults for my birthday celebration this year and had such an amazing weekend. The house is perfect with the upstairs mainly consisting of the living room, dining room, kitchen and balcony, and the downstairs floor having all the bedrooms, game room and hot tub. There was more than enough room for everyone to sleep and enjoy themselves. Half of our group left for the day and went out to Northstar for snowboarding, and the rest stayed back or went down to Tahoe City, which is about 5 minutes away. Overall, everything was in perfect condition. We would definitely rent out this home again and are already planning our next trip up! Sheila was very responsive and was a pleasure to interact with. We had one girl leave a drawer full of clothing and she had it shipped out to her that Monday!

Nice spacious house for a big group!

The size of this house is amazing! The 3.5 bathrooms for our group of girls was perfect. All the bedrooms are downstairs which is a great set-up. Very nice and clean with so much space. All of us could eat dinner together around the large dining room table. Loved that it backed up to the forest! Owner is very quick to respond and accommodating. Great location for a great time with a big group in beautiful Lake Tahoe!

Great escape in Tahoe City

Beautiful home for a large group or multiple families to take advantage of Lake Tahoe. The multiple bedrooms and configurations allow for adults and children to have comfortable sleeping arrangements while away from the main living spaces. Wonderful access to the outdoors with hiking, biking, and a nice beach nearby. The owners are very generous with the staples available for use by their guests and helpful with questions once we arrived. We definitely look forward to returning for a longer visit!

Large House with Accomodating Owner

Shelia (the owner) was very accommodating and quick to respond to inquiries. She was out of town the weekend we were there but gave us the name of a man who responded quickly when we had trouble with the lights in the living room. She gave us ideas of things to do and restaurants. We had 2 families and a dog and the house had more than enough room. The house/decor is a bit outdated and dark but roomy and comfortable. The location is very good - close to Tahoe City, beaches and hiking.

Family Get Together at Lake Tahoe

We had a great Tahoe week with several adults plus kids in Tahoe. This is a perfect house for family groups as there is plenty of room ...we had 8 adults and 4 kids and never felt crowded or in each other's way. The deck off the kitchen is wonderful! We sat out there in the mornings for breakfast and enjoyed the forest behind the house. The birdwatchers in our group enjoyed the daily appearance of the Steller's Jays who are in residence in the area. We took hikes on the trails that lead out from the yard, including one that leads to a reservoir. The house is in a great location in a quiet neighborhood, just minutes from Tahoe City shopping and close to Squaw Valley, Truckee, Kings Beach, etc. The dining room is very spacious with ample room for lots of people. It has a very cozy living room with comfortable leather couches and a stone fireplace. The kitchen is well-appointed with plenty of dishes, silverware, pots and pans, etc. The location of the bedrooms downstairs was great since it was quiet for the kids when they went to bed earlier than the adults. It has a great hot-tub, which we enjoyed in the evenings. The house was very clean and the owners very responsive to our questions both before and during our stay. We are hoping it will be available to rent again on our next trip to Lake Tahoe.

What a great weekend!

Just got back from a fabulous weekend in Tahoe. We really enjoyed staying in this house. In all there were 3 families with 6 parents and 7 kids. The house was plenty big enough for all of us and could probably have held another family or maybe even 2 more if a lot of the kids sleep in the game room. As it was, we had lots of space and I could easily find a spot to get away and read or do some work (I know, I was supposed to be on vacation). The bed that I slept in (one of the 2 queen rooms) was comfortable and the bedding and towels looked to be new. The kitchen was huge with a lot of room for the several of us who were cooking at the same time. It was nice that we could fit 10 adults around the dining room table with the kids eating in the kitchen or outside table. We didn't use the fireplace, but I did take a nice nap in the big leather chair and would recommend the house for that alone. Right out the back door was access to the national forest. We spent the good part of a couple of days exploring the mountain biking around there and found some really good rides (there are tons of trails around the X-country ski area near by). It was also just a 15 minute hike to the little pond/reservoir in the back where the kids did a little fishing. It was too cold to swim this weekend. And the kids kept themselves busy riding bikes and skateboards up and down the street and playing pool and watching movies at night. The owners were great and very responsive to all of our questions about what to bring, etc. They went out of their way to make sure we didn't have to worry about anything during our stay. I would definitely stay here again.

Great House For Family Thanksgiving

Great house for family groups. The arrangement of the bedrooms downstairs and living area upstairs makes it really convenient for both fun and sleeping. It's a very good value for the price. Also, the owner, Nigel, was very helpful and available. The kitchen is large enough for multiple cooks so it was great for preparing the Thanksgiving meal. And the living room is very cozy and inviting with comfortable leather sofas and chairs in front of the fireplace.Loved the "conference table"with power strip, in the back of the living room for everyone's PC's, tablets, etc. The internet worked in all areas of the house. We will rent it again!

Amazing Tahoe House - Coming From Renters Who Stayed 4 Months

The Tahoe Highlands house, where to begin... My friends and I were looking for a ski lease rental to last the entire 2012 ski season with proximity to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. After touring several places in the area we landed here and signed a 4 month contract with Nigel. As far as dealing with Nigel, he is very personable and responsive. He has set up the house so that it's very easy to get up an running for a stay and very easy to close it down. Almost nothing was wrong with the house so there wasn't even much to contact him about. Yet on the few occasions there were like when we realized after a week that the stove didn't work, he went right out and just bought a new one. The house itself is extremely accommodating. The many beds and rooms will fit even a large group, and there's plenty of pillows and blankets to go around. Four bathrooms more than get the job done for a group too. The pool table room with a nice entertainment setup was great for watching endless ski movies while playing 9-ball. The kitchen is certainly the biggest I've used with a full walk-in pantry. The dining room can bring together an entire group for a communal meal. We were big fans of the gas grill on the large back porch that pipes gas straight from the house line (i.e. no messing with propane tanks). The living room is extremely spacious with great window views to the back yard and another great entertainment system. We definitely took advantage of the wood-burning fireplace throughout the winter. The garage is spacious also with room for two cars and plenty of gear storage, and four cars can fit easily in the driveway. I think the real gem of the property is the backyard access. You are at the end of a cul-de-sac and there is nothing but woods behind the house for hiking/biking etc. It also makes the views from the top deck or from the hot tub on the bottom deck that much more serene. And the ~3 mile proximity from Tahoe City is perfect for whatever amenity you might need. With this warm winter we had a mix of spring/summer-like days in January and April, and some big snow weeks in February and March. I think they can be equally enjoyed at this house and I can't wait to get our group back up in the summertime. We're certainly going to miss it now that winter is over.

When we are not using our mountain home we rent out to other families. This is a perfect home for families or large groups of friends.

Close to all Tahoe City local amenities, centrally located yet private, fantastic forest settings situated at the end of road with no traffic. Access to hundreds of hiking/biking paths from our house, no driving required.

Ski in/ski out at Nordic Ski Center. Good sized home with several vacation features Good forest sledging runs at back of cabin. Good wood burning fireplace with gas starter for ease.
