Rustic property on the river. It’s a great jumping off point for Mount Saint Helens. Mark was helpful and showed us how to use the generator and water. Do not go here if you plan to have elaborate meals and food storage. It is on a generator and battery which drains quickly if used a lot. We grilled and used the propane stove and kept our food in a cooler. The king bed could use a topper as it was quite hard. Do not stay if you aren’t physically able to climb to a loft. We had no issues. The kids slept in the bunkhouse which is a ways away-so maybe not for young kids. We had a good stay and the property was nice.
My kids and I were impressed that the owner built this whole place himself! There is lots to do (nearby river you can walk to, fire pit, croquet set, BBQ, basketball, a set of DVDs, and more) and room for many people. The owner is very kind and friendly and supplied firewood and everything that is needed to start a fire, including chopping firewood for us.The setup is very rustic - for example, there is a generator that needs to be started up a couple of times a day depending on how much power you use, there were some bugs in the house, and some the furnishings are definitely worn, but it was a fun and charming experience - at dusk a mom cat and kittens came to play in the yard, which was a fun surprise!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this unique destination and will definitely be back! The primary cabin is a true labor of love—Mark has done an awesome, inspired build using locally sourced materials, including beautiful live-edge siding. It’s quiet, rustic, and peaceful. The off-grid power system is easy to engage, though it requires a bit of awareness. Mark does a great job helping you understand the idiosyncrasies of the cabin: running the generator for about an hour charges the battery to 100%, which then gives you up to 8 hours of power. If you aren't comfortable rationing your power consumption, this might not be the place for you, but we absolutely loved the experience! The sleeping setup includes a loft bed accessed by a small stairwell. As a 5'10" 50-year-old woman, I had no problem getting in and out of the loft comfortably.Very pet friendly.Outside, we enjoyed easy access to the river, and the charcoal grill was simple to light and keep going for dinner. While it feels blissfully remote, a great local grocery store and gas station are right nearby, plus there are plenty of local activities to check out.Thank you, Mark, for sharing this special place with us!

thanks and those are great current pics of the cabin and the wild horse herd. they have been good about being where I direct visitor's to go to see, and only 5 minutes from the cabin.
Small cabin in a private setting. Horseshoe pit, campfire ring, and plenty of fenced in room for dogs and kids. Host is friendly and helpful with ready advice to fit your interests.
Cozy little cabin! Mark met us when we arrived and showed us everything we needed to know for the off-the-grid property. Went and saw the beaver dams nearby, and also saw some wild horses per a tip & directions from Mark. Would stay again!
The cabin was perfect for our visit to Mount St. Helens. The host was so very friendly and put forth every effort to make sure we had a positive experience. We loved that the property was ideal to bring our family dog.
Great cabin on a really nice property tucked away in Toutle. It's on the more rustic side of the rentals, but exactly what we were looking for. Great times by the campfire, walking along the river, and had some drives in the area to see wild horses and incredible views.
We booked an overnight stay to celebrate a birthday and spent some time at the Toutle motocross track.
The cabin was cute and had everything we needed. The boys enjoyed the bunk house.
This cabin was exactly as described in the posting. It was beautiful, secluded, and clean. The host was very welcoming, helpful, and kind. He took his time guiding us through how everything in the cabin works and could not have been more friendly and welcoming. I cannot recommend this little get away spot strongly enough!
Loved the area and property location right near the river. Great yard and huge fire pit area with hammock. The cabin and sleeping areas are very small but we had everything we needed. Make sure to bring a map as the location is tricky to find and none of our cell phones worked up there.

Great guest, and hope my future guest are as you were, hope to see you again, thanks
Such a lovely and peaceful place to stay! The real gem was Mark! He gave us so many ideas of what to do and go to find unique experiences in the area. He even had advice for the rest of our trip. We walked down to the river from the path out his backyard. There is a grocery store with all the necessities quite close and a coffee shop.
Mark was very communicative and supported us in all of oyr requests. This is a cozy place with a huge yard and loots of outdoor things to do near by, including walking out back to the river and swimming. This is a quiet area with lots of space to enjoy.
I stayed the entire weekend and everything was great. The bed in the loft was very comfortable, even with my bad back. It was quiet and peaceful. Just what I needed. I'll be back for sure.
So peaceful. A lot of room to play and all the necessary amenities and then some, DIY offgrid but easy to make it work. Wifi spotty, a plus if you want to, or want your kids to, unplug, unwind and enjoy. Great scenery. Cute kids bunkhouse plus the main house. Loved it.
Marc has put a lot of effort and passion into this property. It's private, has wifi, water, electricity, smart TV's, kitchen, indoor bathroom, etc. The proximity to Mt St Helens is fantastic, and the biggest draw for me. Some things for others who are looking to rent, to keep in mind... it's off grid, so electricity is managed from generators. I had a hard time with electricity going out every 30 minutes. Had to fuss with the generators too much, which is not what I paid almost 200/night to do. I could run one light and a kitchen burner, and then it would trip off. Forget running my air fryer - that just shut everything down. Marc is super nice and helpful and is proud of the cabin, and he should be. It's sweet and interesting. It is very much "roughing" it though, so just understand what you're getting.
