About this property
TINY HOME No.1 Railway Carriage with Stunning Views
About this space
At the end of a wooded lane through a farm gate are two converted 1930s cargo rail carriages. Recovered from the NE Railway they retain many original features while transforming these relics into cosy tiny houses. Carriage No. 1 is a light open-plan space with white washed tongue and groove walls and reclaimed school gym flooring. The double-glazed doors open onto a little private garden and the meadow with stunning views across woodland and the National Trust Gibside Estate.
The space
Situated next to the family farmhouse the Carriage is one of five dwellings on a small 18th century farmstead overlooking the Column to Liberty and breathtaking views of the Derwent Valley and the National Trust Gibside Estate. The south-facing Carriage has a private garden with seating for dining, relaxing, bird watching and star gazing. From here you can wander through the garden gate into the meadow down to the River for some wild swimming, fishing or to explore the endless miles of walk and cycleways.
It's furnished with a bespoke handcrafted daybed which converts to a full-double with comfy mattress & luxury topper, a dining table with stools, equipped kitchen and separate wet room and radiator heating. Wifi in
Guest access
The guests have access to their own private garden with outdoor seating. The garden gate gives access via foot directly into the meadow and beyond. Guest cars can be parked in the public area immediately outside of the main farm gate and guests can walk along the driveway to access the Carriage.
Other things to note
On fine days the chickens and ducks will be roaming and we have a friendly cat and cockerpoo. There are 3 bee hives located on the farm.
A small well-behaved pet is welcome but please let us know if they intend to join you.
