Will definitely stay again!” — Beverly
Nestled along the serene banks of the Toccoa River — the largest river in Georgia's Trout Fishing Capital — The Big Chair River House is your perfect getaway in the heart of the Aska Adventure Area. Ideal for families or small groups, the house accommodates up to 8 guests (4 adults and 4 children max).
Only 9 miles (15 minutes) from downtown Blue Ridge, this 3-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home offers a tranquil escape with easy access to all the outdoor adventures and local attractions that make Blue Ridge famous.
What Makes Our Home Special The Big Chair River House has been completely renovated with love, making it the perfect blend of comfort and modern charm. Our home is designed for relaxation, with cozy spaces to gather, unwind, and enjoy stunning views of the river and nature.
No Pets: To maintain the best experience for all our guests, we have a no-pet policy. Security Cameras: For your safety, security cameras monitor the parking area, side entrance, and firepit area. These cameras detect motion but do not record continuously. There are no cameras inside the house. Bedrooms & Bathrooms All bedrooms are located on the upper level, creating a peaceful retreat away from the main living areas.
Master Suite: King bed, private bath with shower, and access to the side deck. Second Bedroom: Queen bed with access to a half bath in the hallway. Kids’ Room: Queen-over-Queen bunk and a single-over-trundle bed, with access to the front porch. The main level includes a full bath with a tub/shower combo.
Main Living Area At 1300 square feet, our home has a cozy layout designed for gathering together. The main level features a spacious living room with a large couch, chairs, a Smart TV for streaming, and a wood-burning fireplace with a blower for those chilly evenings. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare family meals, including place settings for 8. There’s also a breakfast nook/table, and a propane gas grill for cooking outdoors.
The large front porch is perfect for family meals, while the front porch swing provides a peaceful spot to enjoy the surrounding nature.
Outdoor Space & River Access One of the highlights of our home is the expansive double deck (over 1300 sq. feet) offering ample seating, dining areas, and a bed swing — perfect for stargazing or simply enjoying the sounds of the river. The deck on the riverbank is the ideal spot for watching wildlife (kingfishers and deer are regular visitors) or just relaxing in nature.
When you’re ready for river fun, step right down to the water! Fish off the private river deck, tube the river, or simply dip your toes in. The river’s flow varies with the seasons, so always swim at your own risk.
In the evenings, gather around the large fire pit for s’mores, stargazing, or enjoying the spectacular firefly show in late spring and early summer. If the weather isn’t ideal for outdoor adventures, enjoy cozy family time indoors with games, movies, and the warmth of the fireplace.
A Year-Round Retreat The Big Chair River House is a place to escape, no matter the season. In spring and summer, the home is surrounded by vibrant flowering trees and shrubs, while fall offers breathtaking views of the changing leaves along the river.

Loved the house and location right on the river. My boys loved being able to just walk out the front door and fish plus there was plenty of space for them to run around and play outside and the house was fully stocked with everything we could need for our stay!
This is a fabulous place, right on the river. My son and two son in laws had a great time and stay here. The owner provided us with information about shopping, dining and activities for our stay and was always very prompt to respond to any and all questions. Would recommend this place to anyone.Lee
We had a wonderful time. Host was very accommodating & responded to emails quickly and efficiently. Perfect getaway for our family, We will definitely be back!
Easy access right on the Toccoa! Not much better than hearing the rushing river 24/7. Nice house with comfy beds. Loved every minute!

Hi Keysha,
We are so glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay! We agree that the location is wonderful and we are so glad you enjoyed our comfortable home. Come back anytime! Thank you for your review, Michelle
Everything about the home and the location was just perfect! The home had more than enough room for our family of 4 - and had everything that we needed! It had a very well stocked kitchen and lots of comfortable furniture inside and outside. It really is a perfect location on the Tocoa River - and not too far from Blue Ridge. Lots of great hiking nearby too! Definitely recommend.
I have been traveling to Blue Ridge for over 30 years and have rented many properties there. I go 4-6 times a year to Fly Fish for Trout and relax. This property and location is rated in my top 3 in the area. Super clean, comfortable, amenities galore and the headwaters of the Tocca River 30 yards out the front door. We fished at the location and the river is very wadeable and fishable. Great place for families with children also. The host's were more than accommodating and made us feel at home. You can't go wrong with this rental.
My family ! I had a lovely stay at the river house for thanksgiving this year. We found the accommodations to be as described & were pleased at how well-stocked the kitchen was with cookware! In case it matters, the river is actually across the street from the house but the shown river deck is just a few steps away. We would definitely stay here again!

Hi, Suzy, thank you for your review. We are glad your family enjoyed your stay at our house! Michelle
Hi Doug, thanks for your good review. Glad you had a good trip. I just wanted to let you know that you left the back door open, not sure if the latch caught but I just wanted to let you know. Also, just an FYI, make sure to review the checkout rules the next time you leave a Vrbo, most houses have a policy of emptying the trash before you leave, we do, and you had left the trash inside the house. Thanks, Michelle.
My family and I looked for the perfect place to have the first family vacation we have had in a couple years. We finalized the adoption of our youngest so we thought it was perfect timing. This cabin was beautiful and perfect! I would highly suggest this place! Thank you for letting us use your cabin for family bonding time :)

This is the perfect place to stay as a family, as a romantic getaway, guys fishing weekend, or moms' weekend away! Close to the charm of downtown Blue Ridge, steps to the refreshing Toccoa, and convenient to Helen and other quaint spots, you need look no further. The well stocked kitchen, cozy beds, amazing porches (yes, plural!) and available games make it feel like you are home. Come experience the river life at Big Chair, and let the sound of the water wash away all your cares while you are there!

Thank you so much for your review, we are so glad you had a great stay with us!
The Big Chair River House was a wonderful place to stay. It’s was clean, well maintained, and the owners thought through so many little details that made the stay enjoyable. With two young kiddos, the large yard, bunk beds, and games were so much fun. The porches and river dock were very relaxing. We enjoyed the fire pit every night and the drive into town was easy. There were a few things to do/ places to eat just down the road as well. The river was high from rain, so we didn’t play much in the water, but it was still a beautiful setting. We highly recommend and hope to return soon.

Kristen, Thank you for your great review, we are so glad that you had a great trip with your family at our house! Michelle
Wonderful property on a beautiful river. Spent 12 days escaping south FLA summer. We had a wonderful time standing in the shade with our feet in the Toccoa. River was low and clear with exception of the last day. Played most of the local golf courses, hiked the local trails, waded the river and sat around the fire pit in the evenings. Two sets of grand kids visited on two separate weekends and loved it.
Our stay at Big Chair River House was amazing. From the flowing river to the family game nights to the relaxing porch swing, this has been one of my favorite family vacations. Our family reunion was this past weekend in Blue Ridge and we were able to float from my parents cabin a mile away straight to the dock here at the river house. We only experienced one issue which the host took care of right away. The kitchen was fully stocked for our cooking needs (we only needed to buy food). The beds were comfortable and the neighborhood is quiet and secure. We will be back!
I love this house and property. Great window view to River when preparing meals and hanging out with family. Rooms and bedding super comfy. Great bunks for kiddos. Loved the fire pit area for smores. Tubing and downtown Blue Ridge nearby. Nightly plunges in river definitely rejuvenated us. Loved that there’s one TV in living area and not in every room. Focus on nature. Great hike up into Lilypad Village for exercise each day. Great gym in town. (Premiere Fitness). Had everything in house that we needed. Super clean and amenities way above average. I’d return here for sure! Spent time with my son in Army. Great release for him!

Thanks for the great review! We are so glad you and your family had a great time at our home in Blue Ridge. Best wishes for your son! Michelle
This house and location was perfect! I didn’t see any reviews on this property, but searched the property online for a little bit and then decided to just take a chance! I couldn’t have been more happy with my decision. The house was perfect for our family. The kids loved the bunk room! The house was newly remodeled and had no musty smells and was very clean when we arrived. The kitchen had everything g you need to cook a meal (we cooked dinner there twice with no frustrations). The house is right on the river, not steep climbs or trees obscuring the view. The kids loved walking and even tubing in the river (despite the cold weather)! We will definitely be back in the summer so we can take full advantage of the water!
The road to the property is a one-lane dirt road that has many spots where you can pull aside to let another car pass…that being said, we only passed another car twice in our entire stay. It is a very quiet neighborhood. Just something to know if you are arriving to the house at night!
We had no problems with our stay, so there were no urgent calls or texts to the owners. But Michelle was very communicative when booking the property and even gave us a list of must-do’s and great hikes (it was our first time in the area). Rarely have I had a VRBO that I want to go back to as I feel that there was always things that could have been different or just more places and areas to explore…..but we will definitely be going back to this house!!

My husband, Tim, and I purchased our Riverhouse 7 years ago and it has been a labor of love! Tim did not of the work gutting and updating the entire house. We recently decided to rent out our beautiful, peaceful home. We hope you enjoy our little piece of heaven on the Toccoa!
Why they chose this property
We wanted a vacation home ON the river, we didn't want to have to travel to get to the water. Riverside Drive is the perfect location! Right on the beautiful Toccoa River and close to Blue Ridge GA. So much to do. Outdoor adventures all over the area. You will not run out of things to do or just hang out and enjoy nature at the home.
What makes this property unique
We have a fully updated home Right on the river. We have a huge lot for kids to play and we think we have the prettiest view with the best natural sound machine, you can hear the river when you step outside.
