We stayed at this Wild Dunes location to celebrate the 80th Birthday for one of our party. The location was perfect for us. Great condition of the unit and perfect size for 6 adults.

Family winter getaway

Unit is lovely, short walk to beach, playground/pool. Our only complaint was water heater. We had 6 adults in unit but only first quick shower was warm, needs to be checked.

One bath tub was dirty…. VERY dirty and the sheets in that bedroom were stained and looked soiled. It wasn’t until the following day housekeeping finally appeared. We were gone and Unfortunately they cleaned the wrong bath and changed the wrong bed sheets! Obviously didn’t look around, as one could not have missed the filthy tub. It was another 3 hours before management could get housekeeping to return. To top it off, Our coffee maker was broken.(which they did eventually replace). Mistakes happen, and things are overlooked, but we were so disappointed in the apathetic attitude of management and the lack of follow up. The location and pool, access to the beach and parking were all above par. But would we stay here again? No. If cleanliness is important to you, pass on Shipwatch Dunes.

Delightful vacation

Beautiful views. Kitchen was very well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils and pans. Comfortable furniture. Felt very safe in area. Pool area clean with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Quite a walk to beach but area was uncrowded. Bed in master too soft in opinion of this party. Had mattress pad that was uncomfortable, difficult to get in and out of for seniors and rolling to center. Others may prefer this.Only real complaint was internet and cell service. Would have been helpful to know of sketchy service before arrival. Difficult to make calls.Had issue with electronic door lock that was immediately corrected.

Overall Shipwatch Complex

The first day of our arrival the elevator was not working. It was fixed next day. The entrance to the pool closest to our property was closed due to needed repair our entire stay. The pool was closed for an entire day on the 4th day of our stay. Stated did not know when it would be fixed but was fixed the next day.

The unit's heater did not work. The property manager sent someone to repair the heater on the first of four days. The repairman said it was fixed. It was not. Our nine month old grandson came with his parents to join us on the second day. The temperatures outside were very low. We had to buy two space heaters to provide enough heat for the baby. If he had not had a doctor's appointment, we would have left. The property manager stated he could not get in touch with the repair service during the weekend. We were on the second floor. Mr. Harte is recovering from back surgery. The elevator was not working much of the time which made carrying things to and from the unit difficult since he could not help. We will not stay in Shipyard again.

201A Shipwatch

We really enjoyed our stay. The only complaints are very nitpicking. The TV options in each room are hit and miss. The master Bed Room had door handles on the closet and bathroom doors that were very loose. We bought a phillips screw driver to tighten them. There are NO BLINDS on the windows in the dining room area or in the living room area. This isn't a deal breaker, but is very close to being so. Awkward best describes how it feels in the common areas after sundown. A little more hot water temperature would be nice! The pool was closed for a day and a half with no reason given. We assumed it was for cleaning, but the timing couldn't have been worse given the weather. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives, however. There was plenty of room for all of our guests who visited throughout the week, all appliances worked flawlessly, the views are the best that can be expected for not being directly beach front, and parking is abundant.
