We loved our stay here, the view was like medicine for our weary souls. The beds and linens were very clean. Loved using the fireplace and full kitchen. Shower sauna was so nice as well.
What a wonderful place to stay in the mountains and the view was spectacular. We really enjoyed our time at this property. I will say that GPS takes you the wrong way and clearer driving directions would have been nice but that didn’t take away from how nice the stay was!
We had an incredible stay at this property! The views are truly beautiful, with great sunsets and even more stunning sunrises. This place is also very secluded and private, it was exactly what we were looking for to escape from our busy schedules for a couple of days and unwind. The steam room/shower combo was an added bonus. We'll definitely be back as soon as possible!
Sadly, I would like to give this stay a 4 but there was a stink bug infestation and they were everywhere. They were even on the bed and crawling on people while they slept and all over the bathroom. It would have been nice to be alerted about this bf the stay bc we would have likely chosen somewhere else. The view was absolutely amazing as was the style of the house. Great little trail and outdoor area. The owner was very responsive when we asked to make the temperature warmer and he changed it for us right away. It was a great experience minus the bugs.

I’m am very sorry to hear that there was stink bugs. With temperatures into single digits and the house in the 70 it tends to attract Insects from outside especially if your bringing wood in from outside. Stink bugs tend to hibernate on wood piles A call would have be appreciated in this matter and could have been resolved very quickly. Unfortunately, the agriculturist release the stink bugs into our community here in Boone to protect our Christmas tree farms from evasive insects.
We loved staying here. The house is beautiful and very clean! We enjoyed the fireplace and the fire pit outside and the hot tub was great. Kitchen was well stocked. The view is amazing! Peter was a great host. Be sure to follow his directions to the house, not Google maps. My family had a great time and would rent this house again.
Everything about this house was exceptional, from the spectacular views to the comfort of the beds to the responsiveness of the host. Exactly as advertised on site. A bit off the beaten path, but that only adds to the absolute privacy that you enjoy. Absolutely a 5 star rental.
Great home and view. Would certainly rent again. Only desirable would be better roads to Blowing Rock which takes about 25 minutes to Main Street. Easily passable roads for 3 seasons but many curves and rough pavement.
Had a wonderful relaxing time with the wife and kids at this private mountain getaway. Views were great

Im a Glassblower of 25 years , originally from Florida. I moved to Boone in 2000 Where a owned and operated a glass shop on King Street for 10 years. In 2006, I bought the property here and started my vision. Timber Ridge , was built in 2008 when my glass career was really taking off. I want to share what I have built here. I’m a person that loves downhill mountain biking, snowboarding, cool mountain air, being outside, hiking in the woods, photographing mushrooms and I love the earth and everything it has to offer.
Why they chose this property
Timber Ridge is located in a small mountain community called Grapevine Gap. Located just 9.3 miles from Boone and 7.5 miles from Blowing Rock, close to the local ski resorts, Rocky knob mountain bike park, the parkway, ziplining, Tweesty Railroad and Price lake. If traveling from Boone/Blowing Rock/Parkway you will travel down Sampson, a windy paved mountain Road, approx. 5 miles crossing ( a dirt section of road) to only join another section of paved road until you see Dugger Firetower Road on the left. Once you enter Grapevine Gap community, you will travel up a semi-steap dirt road to the very top. (please note 4 wheel drive needed in the winter months Dec-April). The neighborhood is very quiet with only 10 homes and 7 full time residents here. Once you reach the end of the road you will travel trough some very tall and beautiful cypress trees to find Timber Ridge. The property is mostly flat w good parking and easy accessibility to the wrap around deck and the home.
What makes this property unique
I built Timber Ridge in 2008, adding all kinds of unique details from the most amazing views of the Blue Ridge mountains, unbelievable sunrises, and a wonderful grassy yard for the kids and dogs to enjoy. This place is a work of art, from the live rock wall forged from a local river, to all the great sitting spots located around the property. Take a walk on the nature trail, or read a book on the cozy sky chairs located under the deck . The house is outfitted for families to enjoy their time together, either smores around the fire pit or a home cooked meal inside a very spacious living room. I am artist, there are many works of art throughout the house from paintings that i did in art school, to the wood chosen to decorate the inside. Enjoy knowing that the wood near the stairs are repurposed wood from a 1800 church, the pedestal sink in the half bath was cut from a tree that we cut down when we first built the home, the fireplace mantle was cut and milled to add some elements of nature though out the home.
