Nowhere to sit, eat or wash a dish
BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE
A more accurate desciption of this rental unit would be to say it rents like a couple of cheap hotel rooms rather than the typical full VRBO living space most of us regular VRBO travelers have come to expect. The unit had no chair whatsoever. Also no table at all to either eat a meal off of or to work on your computer. Only nightstands and dressers. There was nowhere but the small bathroom lavatory sinks and the shower available to wash dishes. (I felt like I would have to be like Seinfeld's Kramer, washing pots and pans with me in the shower...) Even Motel 6 has a table and chair in it! I was supposed to stay there for over a month (which the owner knew), so I did need a place to sit and eat and work on my computer and wash an occasional dish or two. In retrospect, the pictures of the unit are actually pretty accurate. I should have picked up on those missing things, eh? Who thinks to look for things as basic as a table and chair?? They didn't need to be fancy, they just needed to exist. If you do really look at the posted pictures (as of 6/16/12) you will notice that there is nowhere in the photos to sit and eat or a sink deep enough to wash a pan. I guess I should have picked up on that better. There is literally no other place in the unit other than inside the bedrooms to even put a table and chair. Only the hallway, which isn't wide enough. The shallow bathroom sinks are the only place to try to wash a popcorn bowl or coffee cup. For someone who will eat all their meals out and only use the place to sleep, this place would probably be fine. When I told the owner about these deficiencies as soon as I started to bring my things into the unit at the start of my stay, he said too bad. Didn't feel like he had misrepresented anything. He is keeping both the full amount of my weekly rental fee as well as my deposit. I even offered to pay a reasonable last minute cancellation fee even though he had no stated cancellation policy in his listing, but no, he is keeping it all. I stupidly gave him my money in cashiers checks, so I have no other recourse at this point. He owns me. I've stayed in VRBO's all over the country many times over the years, but this is the first time I've had any trouble like this. Most VRBO owners are fair, reasonable people. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE!! Get a contract for your stay AHEAD OF TIME and REALLY check the place out first much better than I did.
