Great Stay for a quick trip

The inside of the house was very nice and update. The Back porch could use a little something, just to be able to sit and chill, but overall very nice house.

Despite extensive military travel in harsh conditions, this home was one of the worst accommodations experienced due to severe cleanliness, safety, and comfort issues.Safety & Maintenance: The driveway was slick with acorns and leaves, the fireplace lacked a protective guard, the stairs were lined with spiderwebs, and upstairs air vents were filled with dust.Severe Dirt & Pest Concerns: Dust, dirt, and active spiderwebs were prevalent across the home, including on walls, the pool table, above the fridge, inside the oven hood, and in bathroom corners.Unsanitary Amenities: The living room couch was heavily stained, the pre-existing carpet stains contradicted the host's shoe policy, and the upstairs shower curtain was brown at the bottom. The bathroom sink failed to drain properly.Poor Comfort: All beds had cheap, uncomfortable mattresses that sank severely, leaving the box springs exposed.Delayed Feedback: Issues were not reported during the stay due to a lack of time/resources to find alternative lodging and concern over host hostility based on past review responses.While the property has potential, it needs significant changes and should be delisted until proper standards are met.

Dear Cedric, We were very disappointed and surprised to read your review. When we reached out to check on you after your arrival, you did not mention any of these concerns. Because the home was vacant for a week and a half prior to your stay due to the slow season, some of the issues you experienced likely stemmed from the property sitting unused. We truly wish you had informed us during your stay so we could have addressed these matters immediately. As hosts, we are unable to resolve issues if they are not brought to our attention, and it is disheartening to learn about them only after checkout. Nevertheless, we wish you the best on your future travels.

There's a wood burning stove and the home smells quite strongly of smoke. Our clothes smelled of smoke and we developed a lot of congestion to the point we couldn't breathe well. It's an old home, and while a good portion of the home has been nicely remodeled, the living and dining room is cheaply furnished and the mattress we used upstairs was quite uncomfortable. While the host told us it was a water bug we saw in the home, cockroaches and water bugs are part of the same family, and water bugs are strictly aquatic insects. We found a dead cockroach in our clothing when we returned home. There's no shampoo/conditioner provided, and the washing machine left our clothes damp. Even after drying our clothes twice in the dryer, there was an odor, and our whites had changed to a slightly grayish color. The bed downstairs was comfortable, the pool table was fun, and we appreciated having Netflix and AC. The skylights woke us quite early in the master downstairs, but otherwise, it was nice.

Hello Kristin. We are very disappointed in the review that you left us. You never mentioned any issues during your stay. We even checked on you after your check in to ensure your stay was fine and nothing was mentioned. You did mention the water bug issue, and we did inform you that with the amount of rain and storms that we had for the past few weeks, that bugs are more prevalent especially being that the home is highly wooded. You informed us that you only saw one bug in the home. We also do have this stated in the listing as well. Along with that, we do also have stated that ever since Covid, we no longer supply shampoo, hand soap, or conditioner for sanitary purpose, so we are not sure where the disconnect is. We would have been more than happy to address any concerns you may have had during your stay. For future reference and for any other homes that you may book, please notify the hosts of your concerns instead of being silent and then leaving a bad review. Nevertheless, we do wish you good luck on all of your future travels.
