About this property
Foothill Sunrises & Desert Sunsets from this beautiful 2B/2Ba house.
Don't miss this comfortable, clean and spacious 2-bedroom / 2Ba house, corner property with attractive native landscaping featuring 2 covered patios, 1 each facing east and west with a view of the foothills and an enclosed sunroom. The fully equipped kitchen is conveniently organized for couples who like to cook together and the open floor plan with eat-at counter is large enough for a 6-person dining table to host your friends or family. The host is an experienced traveler and member of VRBO. There is a grill, outdoor seating on both east and west sides, a bicycle, a carpeted garage, an empty man-shed, and the main shower is fully accessible for anyone with mobility impairments. We've tried to make the whole house as accessible and comfortable as possible. It's enticing to sit on the west patio in the morning with a cup of coffee, and the east patio in the afternoon waving hello to neighbors, then watch the sunset again from the west in the evening. The landscape is delightful as the cactus progress through the season, sharing their happy blossoms.
Why Yuma? It's away from the hubbub of the metropolitan areas of Phoenix and San Diego, and is big enough to have medical care, education, restaurants and festivals and its own airport, so you can connect with family as needed. Within 30 minutes of the property, you can explore the Yuma Conservation Gardens, Betty's Kitchen Watchable Wildlife Area, Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park, Martha's Gardens Medjool Date Farm, the Arizona Historical Society Sanguinetti House Museum and Gardens, and that fills only the first couple of weeks! Staying for the winter? Yuma is home to campuses for 3 higher education institutions: Northern Arizona University, University of Arizona, and Arizona State University and is home to Arizona Western College.
Guinness World Records calls Yuma the "Sunniest City on Earth and has many outdoor activities, including:
Hiking, biking, and golfing
Tubing, canoeing, and boating on the Colorado River
Off-roading in the Imperial Sand Dunes and Sonoran Desert
You'll want at least 3 months to enjoy all there is to offer.
In between all the fun, you'll appreciate the walkable streets and friendly neighborhood!

Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
There is a complete checklist posted on the refrigerator and in the rental binder at the property. Essentially, the list expects the property to be secured, and in the condition, you found it.
We ask that you take photos as you walk through a final time, and share/send them. This is the best way to ensure the condition of the house is documented and any concerns can be addressed.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

About the host
Hosted by Leslie Gentner
With a Montana heart, a Minnesota home, and a Michigan husband, plus three young adult children we've traveled the roadways and skies and stayed in many different accommodations. Apartments and homes were often a better fit for a family of 5 and we became familiar with the "home away" from home experience. We want to put the bags down and not run out for basics or wish for a spatula. We want you to say we've thought of nearly everything but the food and your clothes.
Why they chose this property
Fortuna Foothills was my parent's winter home for over a decade. Small town life was their way and Fortuna Foothills is "just right". It's big-enough to have all the amenities of the big city and small-enough to have less traffic, and lots of good, working people. They've stopped going back and forth, so now we're letting others enjoy the house.
What makes this property unique
It's as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. Any time of day you can enjoy the view from inside or out. The doorways and walkways are wide making the property very accessible with a wheelchair or walker.
The carpeted and air-conditioned garage has lots of storage. An RV hook-up allows for another couple of visitors with advance arrangement. The neighbors are friendly and helpful.
