We absolutely felt at home in the mountains when staying at our VRBO host’s location! His southern hospitality and attention to our family’s needs were beyond exceptional!
We enjoyed our time at High Windy. Beautiful mountain views. House was ready and waiting for us when we got there. Host was quick with responses to any and all questions! Would definitely return to this roomy cabin!
The house was larger than it appears in the photos. The kitchen is well stocked and the king bed is super comfortable. No complaints!

Yes, the house feels larger too wIth the large wrap around deck. The beds are great, they are top of the line Colton mattresses, which is a locally made brand. We even sprung for a top of the line fold oit couch mattress, and it is surprisingly comfortable.
The house was very spacious and well built and very functional. The host was very responsive and quick to answer questions and gave a great list of things to do and places to eat! 15 minutes from Biltmore and really central to the sightseeing and hiking. There are tons on trails for all levels of health! Drive up to house was pretty steep but it is paved all the way to the house. If we go back we would stay here again!

Thanks so much for your kind review. And yes the driveway os a true mountain driveway, steep from bottom to top, ot climbs about 400 vertical feet over a half mile.
Lovely property, clean, well stocked and accessible to many things. 13 minutes to Bilmore. Yard was excellent for pets and completely enclosed and secure. Owners are very nice and close if you do have problems arise. Would definitely recommend and will be back if we need a place to stay in the area again.
We had a wonderful stay at the High Windy! House was clean, close to everything we wanted to do, and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Rodney the host was very friendly and responsive to all my inquiries. My dogs had a wonderful time on the back patio and yard. The only thing I was nervous about was the road to get up to the house is very steep and small, however that is probably because we are from FL and not used to driving up in a mountain. We would definitely stay at the High Windy again! Thanks so much for the wonderful stay!
The place was amazing. Beautiful views that made you feel like you were staying in a tree house. Kitchen with everything you needed and incredibly comfortable bed. Well maintained steep road leading to house could not imagine driving this in snow. Will definitely return
We loved our stay at High Windy! Very nice house in a secluded area, but still close to everything. The kitchen had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The porches were the BEST for relaxing and visiting with family. We would definitely stay here again!
Everything exceeded our expectations. Comfortable, clean, bright, well lit, beautiful, and the dog yard was perfect. I live along the SC coast and hope to return to High Windy next year. My Colorado cousin loved it too.
Clean stay, great communication from owner. Easy to get to property, yet still had a feeling of "away from it all". Wish the fire pit was more useable, but overall an excellent experience!

Thanks so much for your wonderful review. We put a lot of love, time and affirm into the rental home and are thankful when guests appreciate the house. I have plans to improve the fire pit area and hope to implement them soon.
We had an amazing stay! The home was perfect. Loved having 2 levels with great accommodations. Beyond comfortable. The area was great. The home is on a small mountain with gorgeous views. Plenty to do in the area and just down the road from the Blue Ridge Parkway and great hikes. We will definitely be booking again soon! Hosts were so lovely and communicated with us when we needed them.

We explored Asheville, the food and art scene. The house was within an easy 15 minute drive to downtown, so very convenient. Our host was very accommodating.

About the host
Hosted by Rodney Clark
My wife and I lived nearby in Asheville. We are both geologists. This our second VRBO home that we manage. We find managing vacation rentals is more rewarding financially and personally than our day jobs and hope to someday only manage vacation rentals. We love to hear the reviews and stories of our guests and occasionally get to meet them when something is needed beyond the ordinary.
Why they chose this property
This home has all the convenience of town (less than 10 minutes to downtown), but is tucked away in a forest/ mountain setting just outside the city limits near the Blue Ridge Parkway/MST trail and Warren Wilson Property. The back yard is completely enclosed/fenced in, so you can let the dogs run free, if they are not climbers/jumpers.
What makes this property unique
I think the main features are the home is newer, has convenience of town (less than 10 minutes to downtown), but is secluded in a forest/ mountain setting. We are close to Warren Wilson trails and I hope to someday connect the rental with the trails of Warren Wilson.
