About this property

Depot Nestled in the Woods

The Depot, as it is known locally, is a truly one of a kind property located just a mile outside of Salina's eastern city limits. It includes 44 acres of combined bottom cropland, meadows, and woods on a dry creek. Buried deep in the woods are the living quarters, consisting of a decommissioned 1906 Rock Island Caboose (rented separately) and Santa Fe rail depot, circa 1880. Both were restored to a modern level of quality with Hickory floors, custom Birch cabinetry, Pine ceiling and Alder woodwork. Sitting in the center of a county section at the end of a half mile long private drive, it's very easy to forget the city is only a mile away.

Don’t miss this stop!

We were greeted by two deer as we drove down the winding drive to this amazing spot. The kitchen is awesome; the decor is adorable; and bed and bedding so comfortable! I cannot recommend this spot highly enough!!

Loved this place

If I’m ever back in Salina I will stay here. It’s not far out of the city but feels like it’s isolated in the country. The house itself is so nice and clean. Communicating with the owner was super easy.

Perfect Valentine’s Day trip. The Depot is picture perfect just like the photos. The customer service was outstanding. We took a walk and saw woodpeckers and a cardinal. The location is nice & quiet. We enjoyed the Garage Museum exhibits and had a nice fire every evening. The Depot is on our list of places to stay again.
We enjoyed walks on the lane into the property.
The large deck was a good place to drink coffee & listen to the birds. My husband grilled a delicious steak on Valentine’s Day.
This is a big squirrels nest up in the tree along the drive in to the Depot.
There’s nothing better than a relaxing in front of a nice fire in the evening.

Unique Railroad Depot - Gorgeous and Secluded

This historic depot was an awesome place. Location was peaceful and beautiful - but close to town. Beautiful workmanship inside and decor was so inviting. Great to sit out in the deck and relax to nature’s sounds. Manager was quick and helpful responding to our questions.
