Property rustic and eclectic with lots of art and interesting items. Gardens were stunning. Very quiet area. Master bedroom with lovely amenities. John was a great host.
We were a group of 3 ladies having a long weekend and enjoying a concert at Brewery Ommegang. We were coming from a few days in Toronto so we knew we wanted to just relax and enjoy the outdoors. This property is just beautiful and very different from anything else in the area. The house was quaint, very well decorated and comfortable. Now this is an old house. So you get everything that comes with an old house (no air conditioning, slanted floors, step stairs, etc) but we knew that going in and this property just exceeded our expectations. But the grounds . . . wow! We had quite a bit of rain during our stay so we spent tons of time on the covered porch. When it wasn't raining or super hot, we hung out on the primary deck. We walked the paths, sat by the lower pond and marveled at this nestled little gully. I loved hearing the brook through the open windows every evening as I fell asleep. This place was like a paradise for us! John was very welcoming and it is apparent that he loves this property and has invested a lot of time and money into it. I hope to go back next year for another concert and a chance to enjoy this home and property.
We (1 couple 3 singles) booked this home for a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. It was a bit of a drive but the scenery is awesome! The owner was quick to communicate and gave us an amazing amount of information. The home itself is incredible! It's a gorgeous farmhouse with tons of character and very comfortable. The primary suite is phenomenal with a very European flair. The bedrooms were all lovely and the beds were better than any I've slept in in a hotel. The kitchen was well stocked (loved the s'mores fixins!) with all the basics and then some, except a microwave! We made do with the toaster oven though. And the grounds. Wow. I can't even do justice to the beauty that surrounded us. Stunning landscaping (portions of which were brought inside with cut wildflowers throughout the house), a babbling brook, outdoor seating everywhere, trails through the surrounding forest, a lovely pond, a cute shed, with fairy lights everywhere. It was magical. None of us wanted to leave. Two minor things people may want to consider that we dealt with just fine: the en suite bathroom has no curtains but when we checked it was hard to see in those windows unless someone was almost right up to them, and there is no bathroom upstairs, so if you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night it's a short trek down the stairs. Neither of these were able to diminish our enjoyment of this stunning little slice of heaven.
