About Jan

The villa in Minorca was build in 1974 by our aunt and uncle in the context of the golf course development 'Shangri-La'. The golf course was banned by the environmentally focused minorcan island government shortly afterwards. In 1992 the 'Parc Natural S'Albufera des Grau' was declared a UNESCO world natural reserve. In 1993 our parents took over the property which was managed my us since 2003. We are a family from Düsseldorf: Jan, Nicole, Nick (6), Laura (4), and Charlotte (0). In 2013 we took over the property from the grandparents and spend 2-3x per year time in Menorca. We love the villa, the park and the island of Minorca.

Why Jan chose Mahón

Es Grau in Minorca is an enclave in which time seems to stand still. A real fishing village where small fishing boats moor at the pier and where the the water is so crystal clear that we often swim there. Only a few yard away the 400m long sandy beach of the bay of Es Grau starts. Perfect with young children because of the shallow, calm waters. The UNESCO Biosphere Albufera borders the bay of Es Grau and offers beautiful trails to the freshwater lagoon or in the adjacent secluded coves.

What makes this Villa unique

100% privacy in a tasteful environment with high quality facilities representing a standard like at home. Hardly a house in Menorca will have brands like Miele and Liebherr in their kitchen. The style of the furnishing is sylish but authentic menorquin. You can tell that we set it up for us and not save on the facilities as most holiday homes do. We try to serve our guests perfectly with many tips for Minorca. The vacation villa is completely quiet in the nature reserve, yet just minutes from the authentic fishing village and beach of Es Grau. Also, Minorca's capital Mahon is less than 10 Minunten away. Thus, the location of the house is almost perfect, if you do not want to live right on the beach (which hardly exists in Menorca!)
