About this property
Bowen Island Boutique Beach House with Private Beach & Mooring
Custom built in 2010, the Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is a luxurious 3 bedroom, contemporary designer house set on 1.5 acres of waterfront property with panoramic views of the Salish Sea and Vancouver Island's snow-capped mountains.
The Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is modernism at its best. Designed by renowned Canadian architecture firm, superkül inc, and an internationally recognized landscape architect, it is contemporary and minimalist, a house of glass where outdoor splendor and indoor simplicity combine. It is ideal for those looking to connect with nature without forfeiting everyday comforts. In winter, while overlooking the blue waters, snuggle up in the bedroom or relax in the living room by an ultra-modern, two-sided wood burning fireplace. In summer, soak up the rays at our private beach, secluded from neighboring views. The house has heated stone floors, central air, 14-foot ceilings, and is fully equipped with surround sound audio, 3D television, cable, DVD, Internet and Wi-Fi as well as top of the line appliances. The home sleeps six people comfortably in three queen-size beds. European rain shower heads in the 2 bathrooms and an outdoor hot tub complete the experience.
Nine-foot high lift-and-slide wood doors open the interior to a deck perched high in the Douglas Fir canopy. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow guests to engage with the magnificent physical setting. You'll love falling asleep to the sound of ocean waves. A star-filled horizon is revealed through spectacular glass walls in every room.
Accessibility:
Bowen Island is a 20-minute, stress-free ferry ride from West Vancouver, via the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal. Ferries run every hour. Bowen Island is also serviced by water taxis from Horseshoe Bay or Granville Island in downtown Vancouver.
Bowen Island is a small community with everything you'll need during your stay including groceries, spas, gym, hairdressers, doctors, pharmacies, and building supply stores.
The Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is also fully wheelchair accessible.
Activities:
Bowen Island abounds with nature trails, rolling hills, and spectacular scenery. If you seek adventure, a chance to experience nature's beauty, you've come to the right place.
Kayaking, board paddling, swimming, snorkelling, hiking, trail rides or mountain biking are just some of the things to keep you occupied. For those who prefer a slower pace, there is whale watching, bald eagle viewing, sailing, fishing, crabbing, oyster harvesting, golfing at the island's 9-hole course, or the simple pleasure of lounging and reading a good book. Oceanfront walking trails at Cape Roger Curtis are only minutes away. World class alpine skiing is 60 minutes away in Whistler via the Sea to Ski highway.
Bowen Island is also a hub for culture and art. Join in the year-round celebrations or various festivals hosted by the Island's residents. Markets, craft fairs, galleries, and several unique shops and restaurants that you won't find anywhere else are not to be missed.

About the host
Hosted by Abe Chaiton, Owner
The realization of Bowen Island Boutique Beach House has been a labour of love. Its owner Dr. Abe Chaiton's dream of living on Bowen Island a long time aspiration. In 1992, Abe fell in love with British Columbia having spent extended time in the province serving as a locum for resident doctors. Sailing up and down the coast to Desolation Sound, Abe was mesmerized by the west coast landscape and enlightened by the people they met on his adventures. Yet Bowen Island stood apart in his fond memories as an unspoiled Canadian gem where life’s simple treasures could be appreciated. And so, each year for ten years, he moored his sailboat, Luba, in Snug Cove, claiming temporary residence on the island, but constantly scouting for just the right spot where he could one day build his dream home.
In 2009, Abe finally found such a place, a rare property on the waterfront with its own private beach and secluded setting, perfectly embodying the spirit of Bowen Island that they fell in love with. This home, now completed and sitting proudly perched above the Salish Sea, is a simple architectural glass box that celebrates modern sensibility, and respect for art. From local furniture manufacturers, east coast folk artists, and Inuit print makers to contemporary sculptors and photographers, there’s a touch of Canadian diversity in every room.

Why they chose this property
A love of the west coast, the people, and their quality of life. The constant change of sound, scenery, and light on this property are captivating.
What makes this property unique
You can do so much and so little and be completely satisfied. The Island offers many activities but it's the still moments that are most memorable, when we are just looking out at the water and the green around us. We enjoy going to visit the quaint restaurants, craft shops, and markets in the town where everything tastes and smells better. We also enjoy kayaking and sailing, while having easy access to go to the city for the day.
