Four of us, friends who love France, bought and renovated this lovely home in 2003. We spend several weeks each year at Maison Beaufort with our own families but it's a great pleasure to share the house with others who want to experience life in a French village.
The house was in rough shape when we bought it but two of us are interior designers and we managed to oversee the renovations from Canada when we couldn't be there ourselves. We wanted the house to be all we imagined a French village house should be, so we decorated in soft Mediterranean colours and styles, keeping it simple but pretty, and as comfortable as possible. Establishing a garden was important, too, and we didn't know how fortunate we are to have such a spacious, sunny and private one. We don't have the room or the climate at home for the fruit trees, the giant fig tree, the almond trees, palms and bamboo we've planted in our French garden, so exciting! Most of all, we're very lucky to have found a housekeeper who takes care of the property as if it were her own, greeting each new visitor for us and making sure their stay is all they anticipated.
