About the host
Your host

My husband and I have had this property for 22 years. It has been a wonderful place to live. We have been able to do so many things like remodel our farmhouse and the cottage and various other places. We have raised all kinds of animals. For a few years, we had a small dairy herd of Nubian goats. We learned to make cheese, yogurt, soaps and lotions out of goat's milk. Now we buy goat's milk from a friend and still make soap and lotion, which we share with our guests.
So many people have crossed our paths on this property. For the first 15 years, we had many members of family that lived with us at one time or another. Some lived with us several times. Through losses, we thought of selling and/or downsizing, but decided it would be too hard to leave. We like our chickens and our home. We have lots of tranquility and joy at our place.
So we decided to host. We have been hosting since 2018 and we love hosting people. Many people we never meet. But we work really hard to provide a comfortable, restful, and stress free place to sleep. My husband bakes banana bread for all of our guests and that is the most mentioned remark from our guests.

Why they chose this property
The best thing about our neighborhood is that it is a country road neighborhood. We are about 2 football lengths off of the country road just north of Abilene, barely out of the city limits. We have easy and quick access to the Interstate, to the Air Force base, and to 83/277. But once you turn off of the country road onto our private road, a quiet peace settles over a person. The setting sun is more often than not, beautiful, and as my brother-in-law once said, “there will never be another like it”. The birds are content in their pasture and silly in their routines. The evening is calm and a good time to grill burgers or steaks on the grill at each of our places. The night settles gently and in our comfortable beds and pillows, rest easily follows.
What makes this property unique
Our property is unique to guests because we love hosting. There are those people with whom we form a friendship and they return year after year. Then there are those we never meet. Whatever end of the spectrum our guests fall, our treatment is the same. We give good value. And then we give more.
JB makes banana bread for all of our guests. Our friend Shelley, cleans all of our places. We have other friends and family that help clean also. We make sure the beds are lovely and comfortable. We want the space to be both attractive and easy to occupy. We want the pets of our guests to feel welcome and comfortable. We provide a washer and dryer at each of our 3 places. Shelley and I make goat milk soap and lotions and we share those with our guests.
Each of our 3 places have an outdoor grill, out door furniture and a fire pit. Outdoor living in Texas is key to comfortable living, to watching the stars, to having a truly unique experience.
