About the host
Hosted by Doug Garasic
We love blending rustic, minimalist, and modern design elements to create clean, cozy spaces where you can feel inspired and revived. We designed a space that we love to be in, and hope that others will love it, too!
Why they chose this property
Cook Forest is an incredibly beautiful getaway spot. The community is small and friendly. We love the river, trails, and enjoying the simplicity of nature.
What makes this property unique
The original log cabin was built in 1920 by the Cook family. We’ve heard all kinds of stories about what this has been over the years. It was home to the first Parker’s Indian Trading Post (you can visit the current store right down the road), an ice cream parlor, a t-shirt shop, and who knows what else! The suite and bathroom were added in the 1990s to transition the property into a more livable space.
Our family purchased and renovated this cabin in 2022. We christened it “Red Fox Cabin” because all our boys have hair the color of a red fox. Our hope is that this would be a place of rest, refuge, and restoration for everyone who spends time here.
