Rent entire house with 3 bedrooms, one bedroom is completely separate from the other two, max 4 people including children. House isn’t set up for young children due to separate bedroom, glass tables, steps without gate.
Avoid the noise and crowds of condos with this two-story house; a wonderful lake retreat in the woods. Enjoy beautiful clean lake water, great views of the main body of the lake (Marker C-1) and Smith Mountain. Let the older kids go roast marshmallows at the firepit, swimming, sailing, skiing, kayaking, canoeing or fishing, all while mom and dad enjoy a break on the 2 screened-in porches or the covered dock with boat slip and floating dock.

There is a natural beach combined with a floating dock that will keep the older kids entertained while mom and dad enjoy the fantastic views and wildlife from the covered dock and screened porches. For the fisherman, the citation Stripers await your arrival. Mitchell’s Marina is within walking distance for launching boats, food, and tackle. A deep water boat slip adjoins the floating dock. The house is 1500 total 750 sq ft on each level. The renovated upstairs contains two bedrooms, a full kitchen, family room, and screened deck. The downstairs has a full bath, extra bedroom, game room/den, along with a washer and dryer and a second screened porch. House has security cameras on the outside of house.

ITEMS NEEDED:
All you need for a complete vacation is your lake towels, paper products, toiletries, food and firewood. Rental periods are 3 night minimum from Saturday 3:00 pm until Saturday morning at 10:00 am. No checking in/out on Sundays, if less than a week is preferred. Check in/out within a Sat to Sat.

PLACES TO VISIT:
Nearby: The National D-Day memorial is 30 minutes down the road in Bedford VA. If you want some variety you can drive, motorcycle or hike the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains or the Peaks of Otter which are just 45 minutes away. 'Explore Park' near Roanoke and Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest residence near Lynchburg are less than an hour away. NASCAR's Martinsville race, held twice a year, is also a one and half hour drive. Booker T. Washington's and Jubal Early's childhood homes are a short drive from the lake. Charlottesville (Monticello and University of VA) and Blacksburg, VA (Home of Virginia Tech) are just two hours away. Ferrum College is one hour away.

Fully fitted out dwelling, very private, interesting neighborhood to walk, great dock and utilities (electric) outlet on dock to charge boat batteries overnight. Huddleston vacation

It’s a lovely home situated in a peaceful, picturesque setting and ideal for adults seeking fishing from the dock and relaxation. The owner, Alice, is extremely responsive, and we totally enjoyed our week visiting Smith Mountain Lake.

Great stay with old college friends!

Two of my college friends and I stayed here for a weekend to catch up and relax! We had a wonderful time hanging out on the dock and swimming in the lake. Our host Alice was very communicative and was a wonderful host.

Wonderful getaway at the Lake.

My family of 4 and another father and his daughter had a wonderful retreat at the Lake. We especially enjoyed sunsets on the dock. Very relaxing! And after pulling the kids on a raft all day one day---boy did they sleep well! The cottage had everything we needed and we especially enjoyed the screened in porch.

Fantastic place

My wife and I enjoyed several great days at this property. The owner went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and accommodated. The location is fantastic - on a quiet cove right off of the main lake. The house was recently redone and has a great new kitchen. The enclosed porch is great for viewing the lake or enjoying a thunderstorm. The new fire pit area is also great. Overall, a fantastic experience.

A great stay for families with kids who love lake life!

Perfectly listed rental. We had no issues at all. Only wished there was a firepit to make s’mores w kids. Lovely dock with canoe in private cove. Great separate downstairs space for older children. Excellent communication with owner when I had questions. Very pleased!

A nice home on the lake

My family came down for the first time to SML. This home had everything we needed. We enjoyed our coffee in the morning on the screened in deck overseeing the lake and then enjoyed our days on the lake on our boat which we docked there. The views of the lake and mountains are incredible from this area. The communication with the owners was very positive and they were always responsive.

Perfect weekend at Smith Mountain Lake. Beautiful home and cove/views!

This weekend was just what we were hoping for. The house, lake, views and hosts exceeded all expectations. Everything we needed and more was provided. House was incredibly clean and comfortable. Dock was perfect for hanging out all day. Loved our family time around the fire pit. Thank you so much to Alice & Barney for being wonderful, attentive and accommodating hosts. You guys are the best!

Saunders point is pretty nice

House was very cozy with plenty of space on both levels. Hearty set of 42 steps to the dock. Water was nice and warm and clean. Was surprised on the water level changes during the week, but had no effect on our stay. Screened porch was nice break from the AC in the morning and evening. Property gets an “A” grade! Give it a try.

Family Lake Getaway

We loved everything about this house on Smith Mountain Lake. Our family really enjoyed our stay. The house is the perfect location on a quiet cove. Easy access to Mitchell’s Point Marina to rent a boat. We loved sitting out on the dock, fire pit by the lake, the screened porches for coffee and relaxing. The house has plenty of room for our family of four. It was really clean and had a great kitchen and family room. Bedrooms were comfortable too. Alice, the owner was wonderful to work with...very helpful and accommodating. We will defiugo back to this gem on the lake.

Running group reunion!

We are a 4-some who ran together for years and now live apart. We reconnected this weekend at beautiful Smith Mountain Lake. The home we rented was lovely - two levels and both had a screened in porch; spacious; very well stocked and on the waterfront for ease of our kayak and SUP launching! Tho it rain showered twice we sat under cover of the dock canopy and enjoyed the sound and sight! The home decor is tasteful and screened porch adds lovely area to visit and to eat. Communication with Alice was outstanding! High marks on this one; hope to return!!

Definitely a place to remember

My wife, grown son and his wife and I enjoyed the most relaxing vacation we've all had in a long time. Our accomodations were excellent. Plenty of cookware and decorated tastefully. My son and I had a few exciting matches on the foosball table. The dock was a great place to hang out and fish. Swimming was great, the water felt fantastic. We brought new paddle boards to try out for the first time. The cove was a perfect spot for us beginners. We had a blast. I highly recommend this rental for small families. We hope to return again in the future! Love SML!

5 Days & 2 Couples That Didn't Want To Leave

Let me start by saying the owner, Alice, was an absolute gem to work with. The house was VERY clean, comfortable, and had every amenity you could possibly think of. She thought of the 'little things' that would make your stay that much more enjoyable. We brought our boat with us and launched from Mitchell's Marina without any problem (there is a $5 fee to unload & reload the boat, fyi), and kept the trailer at the house. It was a short boat drive to the house and the dock was clearly marked with the address. We LOVED the back deck as well as the boat dock and spent our afternoons floating in the cove. Oh, and the mountain views! The house is by the dam and in my opinion is the most beautiful part of the lake. It was the best 5 days we've had in a long time.

Comfortable, well-maintained cottage

Very nicely maintained cottage, with books, puzzles and games appropriate for both children and adults to enjoy. The cottage is on a nice, quiet cove near the Dam, and the swimming (and attempted fishing--we caught nothing other than sunfish!) was great. The owners also refunded our security deposit very quickly (it arrived in the mail on the first business day after we checked out!), which was much appreciated. A few things to be aware of: 1. The downstairs bedroom is only accessible via an external door (we had our 7-year-old daughter sleeping down there by herself, so that made me a little uncomfortable) 2. There is no outdoor grill; the "electric grill" is an indoor, George Foreman grill 3. The cottage is closest to channel marker C-2, not R-2

Great first trip to SML

This was a very last minute trip to SML. We’ve had the lake on our list of places to visit for a while. We were just waiting for the right time. Our planned vacations have been canceled or postponed due to all of the changes made because of C19. This lake house is great. It was four of us including 2 small children and the accommodations were perfect. The home is clean and nicely decorated. We spent a lot of time on the covered boat dock. We made a fire, took the canoe out, and played foosball in the basement. The location to Mitchell’s marina is great. We rented a boat for half a day and explored the lake. This was a great first experience to SML. Alice, the homeowner is very friendly and communicated excellently! She answered questions before I knew to ask them. I would highly recommend this quiet lakefront home.

Perfect SML House

The house was clean, quiet, and stocked with everything we needed. Owner was responsive to communications and she met all our needs during our stay. House is located in a peaceful, protected cove with plenty of room for docking a boat. Would highly recommend!
