Wonderful property right on the water! We had our own beach with water toys and the guest cabin was a wonderful addition for my elderly mother and father to relax and have their own space separate from the main cabin.

This place is amazing, and very close to everything the Brainerd Lakes area has to offer. Whether you’re a book worm and prefer staying in or you want to be active and explore the outdoors, Sunset Loons w/ Bear cabin does not disappoint. There were 6 in our group and the property was plenty spacious. We spent our mornings snowmobiling (Pillsbury State Forest was a short ride away) and then we took in activities in the afternoons. Snow shoeing at the Arboretum was a definite highlight for our group. Thanks, Adam for everything- your awesome communication made our stay extremely easy and enjoyable!

You can tell there was a lot of thought and care put into what you’d like to do around the property! Our kids loved that there was a toy bin for them and my husband loved being able to kayak in the morning. We’re looking forward to our next time here!

Great for a family vacay!

This house was the perfect place for our family to vacation! It was fully stocked with kitchen supplies, plenty of beds, and plenty to do to beat the rain (unfortunate unpredictable Minnesota Summer weather!) we spent most evening playing darts in the garage. We made the most of our sunny day on the sandy beach! I personally had great communication with the host through out our stay.

The house and grounds are stocked with everything we needed for a lovely two week stay. We didn’t have a rainy day so we didn’t utilize the garage much but that space would be perfect for a rainy day. I would highly recommend this lake house. The host was also great at communication and very understanding when a family death changed our plans slightly. Highly recommend!

Amazing place to stay with kids. Adam should honestly talk more about the toys, games, books, yard games, etc. We brought stuff for our kids to do and it was TOTALLY unnecessary. They also spent a lot of their time (when it wasn't raining) on the beach playing in the sand and taking a dip in the water despite the cool temps. The water was still warm bc of how shallow it is. My in-laws loved tagging along while still having their own private space to unwind.

Nice house for family and 2nd cabin for Grandparents

Relaxing place for family and grandparents to stay at. Also brought our Brittany dog with this time (kept on leash and nice area for long walks). Only 1.5 miles from main part of Brainerd. Outdoor blackstone grill has a large cooktop that was perfect for all our cooking.

Wonderful Family Gathering

This property was perfect for our family - our grown children, grandchildren, daughter-in-law, my husband (who has limited mobility), and myself. Each of us had private space plus lots of space for game-time and puzzle-time. Our oldest grandson even caught a northern when he took the paddle boat out. The host was very responsive and pleasant to work with.

Has Everything

This was a great property to stay at, we really enjoyed ourselves and were able to keep the kids off screens the whole time. This place has a ton of really nice indoor and outdoor games as well as all the various boats! The kids were not bored at all. There were plenty of linens, towels, blankets to make ourselves comfortable, and plenty of kitchen items to make full meals. Beds were very comfortable. The host was very easy to get ahold of as well.

Perfect set up to have grandparents along!

Our week long stay was great! We enjoyed all the great amenities Sunset Loons had to offer. Communications with the owners were very informative and helpful. We had one set of grandparents with us for this visit, so the Bear cabin was a perfect set-up for privacy, and some down time for them. The weather was not so perfect so we didn’t spend much time outside, but the view and seating was lovely! Being picky sleepers, we found the King mattress comfortable, but on the soft side. Upon sunrise, my young adult kids were not thrilled there were no window coverings or wall separating loft from living area. Oops! Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Glad you had a great stay! We might look into maybe some window coverings in those areas at some point. We will for sure get one by the window upstairs... the main area is tough because of the giant windows lol Thanks for the great review and we do hope you come back soon!

Family Vacation

Overall a beautiful house. Loved that there was a side cabin for the family with small children to have some privacy and quiet. The beach and sand was nice, however the water is extremely shallow throughout the entire lake (more shallow than we had anticipated) making the water and swimming area VERY weedy and messy. The kids were able to play in the sand but swimming was impossible given the weeds and sharp snail shells covering the bottom. We loved the paddle boat and kayaks, but we were anticipating utilizing our own fishing boat, but given the lake was so shallow, we were unable to get the boat into the water and never would have been able to park a boat at the dock at the house. (It’s about 2 feet deep around the dock.) we ended up having to pack up a cooler and take our beach day to a lake about 5 miles away for the kids to be able to swim and to go out fishing. The flat top grill was great to use for all of our meals. (If you need a crockpot, though, bring your own.) Had a few issues while we were there but the owner was quick to respond. Also, if you have a bigger group, be prepared to bring your own extra TP. Overall had a very nice time on our family vacation, but maybe just not the type of lake we were hoping for.

Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you had a good stay overall. Regarding the lake levels, last year's drought did lower them a bit, but the recent rain has brought them back up to near-normal levels. Even at normal levels, the lake is relatively shallow, with two deep spots reaching 25-30 feet. I'm working on finding a map to provide to all guests, showing these areas for better boating experiences. For our lakeshore, we added 28 yards (two full dump loads) of fresh sand last fall and this spring. We're also planning to get an auto lake groomer to eliminate the weeds and shells around the dock area and to extend the dock significantly to better accommodate boats. I've noted your suggestion about the toilet paper and will ensure our cleaning crew leaves extra rolls, especially for larger groups. We aim to complete these improvements in the coming months. Thank you again for staying with us, and we hope to host you again soon. With these changes, we aim to make your next stay a 5-star experience!
