Great place for a family or group gathering. Roomy. Very well equipped. Excellent beach, with lots of “toys” for children and adults. Excellent response time from owner. Highly recommend.
We stayed here with 4 adults and 4 kids (6 and under). The beach was awesome for the kids to play. We appreciated the sand toys, youth canoes and space for the kids to run around. There was plenty of firewood to use for fires to keep warm in the evenings and roast marshmallows. Overall we had a great time and it was a great place for kids to be able to play all day. A few notes
A wonderful stay with plenty to do when the weather was rainy, windy or hot and sunny! Loved the sandy beach just steps out the door and all of the provided beach toys! Our 4 year old and teens were equally entertained.
This property provided something for us all….lake recreation, swimming on the beach, playing in the sand, bonfire under the stars, reading in a lounger, board games, beautiful location for biking, walking, and jogging, and TV entertainment as needed. We enjoyed the close proximity to restaurants and stores in Nissea and Crosslake as wel.
My husband, daughter & my sister with her family very much enjoyed our stay at the John cabin. The beach was great for the kids & we all loved the water. Erin was very responsive & we couldn’t have been happier. Hoping to come back next summer for longer!
We always have a great time at "our" cabin! The beach is wonderful and private, and the kids (and the adults!) can play and lounge happily for hours. The cabin is clean and quaint, and we just love staying there! Always fresh and welcoming, and it feels like home. We'll do this for as many years as we can. Thank you!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation on Pelican Lake. It was our second time to this cabin. The first was with friends and it was perfect for a getaway and the second was with our family and our parents and it was perfect again. The swimmable lake and all beach lawn make the cabin perfect. Spraying for mosquitos this time around was a huge plus too. Can't wait to go back again.
I do not recommend that holiday home, the attitude is terrible, there are rodents running around on the roof and along the walls, and there are a lot of them, we did not sleep well there, we left the building early for 4 nights, we needed to return earlier, they refused us. Let them be on their conscience,
Although the weather was something to work around, it didn't stop us from finding ways to have fun on the beach, fishing, and playing games. We had a fire on the beach and cooked hotdogs. It was a lovely time
This was a gathering of family from Minnesota, Texas and Massachusetts. The home is beautiful, clean and well organized. Plenty of room for all 10 of us! The lake is clear and the beach is soft sand. The host was gracious and quick to respond to questions or address problems. We loved this location!

Wonderful vacation!
This cabin was perfect for our family of 6. It was very clean and had everything we needed. We couldn't have asked for a better back yard or view. My five year old loved all of the sand and played for hours with his trucks! We used the kids' kayaks, paddleboat, and volleyball net constantly and even my teens didn't want to leave at the end of the trip. Thanks so much for this memorable trip!!

Thank you so much for wonderful review! We really appreciate it:-) We really hope to have your family back again! Have a great summer! Erin
A GROUP OF SIX GIRLS STAYED HERE FOR OUR ANNUAL GIRLS WEEKEND. WE USUALLY STAY AT BREEZY POINT, BUT THIS WAS SO MUCH BETTER. WE NEVER HAD TO LEAVE, BUT IF WE WANTED TO THERE WAS SHOPING AT NISWA WITHING 15 MINUTES. WE GOT SUCH GREAT QUALITY TIME WITH EACH OTHER AND THERE WAS PLENTY OF SPACE AND THINGS TO DO. ALREADY LOOKED TO SEE IF WE COULD BOOK SAME WEEKEND NEXT YEAR, BUT UNFORTUNATELY ITS BOOKED....NOT SURPRIZED!
Everything was just as described. Loved the sandy beach and clear shallow water! The boat house with the extra fridge was nice to store our extra food, drinks, and beach stuff. We had a wonderful time and would love to come back!
Side note: to no fault of the owners or anything that hurts my review but the public beach next door gets very loud and many pontoons/boats anchor in front of this cabin with blaring music and lots of loud people. If you want peace and quiet you may want to choose someplace else. In the five days we were there it was only really bad one day.
Our family enjoyed two nights at the John’s cabin. It’s well equipped for kids and has a great outdoor set up. The water is clear, the sand is soft, and chairs are perfect for lounging by the lake. Beautiful sunset one night too.
Minor things that may be helpful to others, pack bug spray, there were some biting flies one evening. Bring body wash/soap, and drinking water. We assume it’s well water with high iron, it does have a smell & off putting taste though. We had to run to the nearby store for water.
The kid kayaks were super fun, an adult sized 1 or 2 person kayak would be a great future addition.
Mahalo for a memorable trip!

Beach was great, but that’s about all that was great
Upper level was 20 degrees hotter than lower level, owner told us to close the downstairs vents and aim a fan up the stairs which helped but took a day and a half to cool down the upper level to 70’s. Garbage by the beach was not emptied prior to arrival, hand soaps dispensers were not refilled prior to arrival, questioned if the place was properly cleaned. Bath towel with holes in it. We’re given 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom for 9 people for 5 days. Was told no more would be supplied. Downstairs bedroom bed sunk in the middle, very uncomfortable. No propane for the grill, make sure to bring your own. They don’t supply it. The only good thing about this place was the beach.

Hi - I appreciate your review. The top floor of the cabin was an older cabin constructed on top of a new basement so that is the reason the upstairs was warmer but we also had a long stretch of upper 80's lower 90's. I do supply table fans and box fans in the cabin to help push cooler air upstairs. The garbage that was not emptied was a mistake on my cleaning team. They forgot to dispose of the beach garbage and I did speak with your party and apologized for that. Hand soap dispensers were under the sinks as well as soap refill jugs. I am unaware of any "holes" in my bath towels so that is news to me and I appreciate you letting me know. Had I known during your stay I would have been happy to replace them. Yes each bathroom comes with 2 extra rolls of toilet paper and no I do not supply propane for the grill. Our family has stayed at numerous VRBO's and at each one we have to bring our own propane and extra toiletries so we expect the same from guests that stay at our family cabin. Lastly - the basement bedroom mattress has since been replaced by a brand new top of the line pillow top mattress. Thanks! Erin John
The outdoor space was absolutely perfect!!! Having the outdoor bar-shed was such a plus! Having everything we needed for the beach and all our drinks down in the shed saved many trips into the house! On the hotter days it is definitely a lot warmer upstairs than it is down stairs! I read in one of the other reviews about the bad queen bed in the master bedroom. They were absolutely right definitely needs to be replaced! My husband and I could not sleep together. It has such a bad hole in the middle that you can hardly get back out again! Thankfully we had an extra twin bed for me to sleep in! The downstairs in the house was newer and absolutely perfect. We did have a leak through the ceiling in the basement in the bathroom and let the owner know and she responded immediately. The inside upstairs could definitely use some TLC! Carpet and couch looked dirty and the stove top could use updating. Having our own dock was great! On one side of the dock at the end is super shallow only up between your ankle and your knee. The other side a little deeper. That part did not bother us but we were not able to catch any fish off the dock which my daughter was looking forward to. All in all the cabin was really nice and we loved the outdoor space!

Hi - thanks for your review. I wanted to let you know that the basement bedroom mattress has since been replaced with a brand new, top of the line pillow top mattress. The "leak" in the basement ceiling is due to the extreme heat wave causing a condensation build-up on the A/C unit. I do have a professional cleaning team that comes and cleans my cabin in between stays and each time I have been there to restock supplies during the cleanings it has been perfectly clean. Once again, the upstairs or main floor of the cabin is an older cabin that we had constructed on top of a new basement which is why the basement appears so "new." Thanks for staying. Erin John
Cozy little cabin that sleeps many many people. Very nice!

We are happy to answer any questions that you may have regarding our property. We both grew up in this beautiful area and know that you will be amazed by this clear lake, the sunsets, and the awesome sandy beach!
Why they chose this property
We purchased this cabin because we love this area. There is NO better lake in this area for families and for fun than Pelican Lake. The lake has so many sand bars for families to enjoy and the shallow warmer water makes parents rest a little easier knowing that the kids are safer. You can walk far out into the water off the shoreline before it becomes deep and it is ALL SAND!
What makes this property unique
