We loved our time at Blue View! Johnny was an exceptional host with great communication and was very accommodating to our special requests. We loved the unique art in the home, the beautiful attention to detail - down to signs and labels in the house, which helped us find everything we needed. The beds were so comfortable! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook and serve a meal. Our family enjoyed a picnic in the backyard around the fire pit. It was a great place to relax and spend time together. The view of the mountains is lovely and the convenience of being so close to town was great too.We highly recommend the Blue View!

I had the pleasure of staying at the Blue View during a work trip to Monterey. The house was amazing - comfortable and charming - the house combined the charm and character of an older home with all the modern conveniences one could possibly need. Beautiful views from the back porch and walking distance to town. I hope to return again soon to enjoy this beautiful home on a leisure trip!

Blue View review

This is one of the best VRBO experiences we have had. The owners went above and beyond in providing amenities and explaining the features of the house. Would absolutely stay there again if we are in that area. Town of Monterey is very cute and Highland County is beautiful.

Everything absolutely five stars. Thank you for a wonderful stay for our family. Highly recommend the pizza from Hunt Brothers in town… a minimum of 3 night stay is what it takes to truly enjoy the town and the surrounding beautiful mountains!

From the out side the house appears as a charming older home with a big yard to play in or just sit in the many chairs and enjoy the view. Johnny was great sending us tips about the town and the house. Inside, the house has been renovated so there are modern bathrooms and a very nice kitchen, but the old home charm remains. My wife called the house and our stay as "just delightful." We have never stayed in a house with such a stocked kitchen even has a tea kettle that you set the type of tea and it sets the water temp needed.

Home Away From Home

My husband and I came to Monterey for a friend’s wedding and we booked the Blue View. This home is beautiful and sits on a gorgeous spot with an incredible view!! Everything you could need is here. It’s cozy and definitely felt like “home” for the weekend! The owner, Johnny, was absolutely wonderful and made the check-in and check-out process seamless! He was so helpful in offering suggestions for places to eat and things to see. If you are ever in Highland County and need a place to stay I 100% recommend the Blue View. Thank you for everything, Johnny!! Five enthusiastic stars!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wonderful stay

We visited Monterey for the Maple Festival. The location of Blue View allowed us to take a short walk into town (most of it on a sidewalk) and avoid parking and traffic issues on the busiest day (Saturday). There were several contact numbers in case we needed assistance. We didn’t. Everything worked well. Internet service was very good. The house was clean and had everything we needed. There was plenty of parking space. The host was accessible before arrival to give us the address and access code. A book was provide that gave clear and concise directions for operating everything. I highly recommend Blue View.

Charming and Cozy Retreat in Monterey, VA

My colleagues and I recently stayed at this delightful house in Monterey, VA, for a work trip, and it was the perfect balance of comfort and tranquility. Nestled in the mountains, the cabin offered a peaceful retreat from our busy days, with plenty of character and charm. The space was immaculately clean and thoughtfully furnished, with a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. We especially loved the spacious kitchen, which was well-equipped for preparing meals, and the outdoor deck provided a lovely spot to enjoy the surrounding views during breaks. The location was ideal – just a short drive to the heart of Monterey, where we could easily grab meals or run errands. We also appreciated the Wi-FIIf you’re looking for a peaceful getaway, whether for work or leisure, this house is an excellent choice. Spectacular views in a warm and comfortable home away from home

I had the best time at the Blue View, thoroughly appreciating all its amenities both inside and out. Waking up each morning to coffee on the back deck to soak up the exquisite view was an extra special treat. A very short and easy stroll to the nearby Roots Grocery, which was stocked with beautiful produce and treats which made me feel right at home (as the owners hail from San Diego!) Just a couple minutes’ walk will take you to the main street of Monterey with its charming storefronts and restored buildings. Claire’s coffee and cakes and The Third Space stood out for being extra special. After taking in all the history and architecture of downtown, it was always a joy to return to the Blue View, where I could cook to my heart’s content in the wonderfully upgraded kitchen, fully provisioned, spacious and bright. I also appreciated the cush furnishings, thoughtful touches, and the lovely color palette throughout to set off the art prints on the wall. Everything was so clean and I appreciated having the space to spread out and spend time with friends. I can’t wait to come back!
