Property was clean and number of bedrooms (5) as described. It was perfect for us because we were in Lampassas for a wedding so we could stay with extended family members.
A wonderful property, exactly what we hoped for in Lampasas. Loved the historic elements of the property. And Kaili was very responsive and an excellent host. Highly recommend the house if you are traveling through the Texas Hill Country.
If you are in this area for a family reunion , attending a wedding or just a stop to your next destination -you will have a wonderful education studying all the antiques and reading about the history of this place and the town
Yes it is an old house so expect wonderful wood floors and stain glass windows and a creaky floor every now and then. But that is what gives this place its charm ! Our host was very responsive and helpful, even accommodating the place with some white noise machines to help with the traffic noise -and it does help ..take your time with this wonderful home and enjoy all the conversation pieces …be still and let your mind wander back to a simolier time ..
So when my wife and fam arrive to check in there was a strang person that was also arriving. He introduced himself and said he was there to work on the AC. That person used the same code we had ben given to gain access to the property. This bothered us greatly. The first night we didnt get almost any sleep due to not knowing who else might have the code to get in.
We decided to leave after the first night.
The house is cute and has lots of character.

Nice Antique house
The house was awesome - it has a lot of character. But...
it was hot & humid & the AC could not keep up (got up to 79-80 degrees during the day) - took some time to cool down enough to sleep at night. Host could consider cooling the house down prior to customers' arrival. The welcome gifts were a nice touch.
It is on a busy street, but we didn't really notice the noise.
I'm hoping they got the cleaning service straightened out because the house needs a good cleaning.
The king bed downstairs could use a mattress pad to soften it up some - was very hard.
Overall....if it were cleaned better, I would book again.
I would not recommend kids with all of the antiques in the home.

Home was cooled prior to guest arrival at the usual 76 degrees and house was spotless, as always. The claims of "dirt" were unwarranted and we had an extra cleaner come through during their stay, who confirmed that the only issue was a minor stain on a sheets (which was promptly replaced). After refunding this guests' stay, we were still faced with a pile of unwarranted complaints - though it seems they were still happy with an "awesome" house. This is an older house (as described fully in our description) and so this won't be your run-of-the-mill "modern" appointments, because we are an historic property. If you are looking for shiny plastic, glass and metal - modern style accommodation - this isn't going to be a fit for you. If you're looking for an incredible home bursting at the seams with priceless antiquities and incredible history (and a host who is passionate about sharing this experience with our guests), we welcome you to stay with us. We do everything we can to create an extremely unique, historical and cherished guest experience, and in doing so we strive to set expectations.... but of course sometimes Karen doesn't read the description.
We stayed at the Historic Gillen House with several couples, and everyone absolutely loved it! The home is beautifully maintained, spacious, and filled with fascinating historical artifacts that make it truly unique. Every room was comfortable and welcoming—the beds were cozy, the provisions were thoughtful, and the entire place had such charm and character. We appreciated all the little touches that made our stay special. An excellent experience all around—we can’t wait to come back!
